Goodbye, Charlie! ABC’s reboot of Charlie’s Angels hasn’t bowed yet but the studio is already making a change on the high-profile project: Robert Wagner won’t be voicing the iconic (and unseen) character this fall. Sony TV, which is producing the drama for ABC, told TV Guide in a statement: “Due to his scheduling conflicts, Robert Wagner will need to step away from his duties as Charlie on Charlie’s Angels.” Dang! The 81-year-old vet of film and TV would have been great.
Suggestions for his replacement? Ricky Gervais? James Earl Jones? Newman from Seinfeld?

Bill Clinton! (not joking)
I happily volunteer for this!
“Hello Angels…”
James Brolin?
Richard Simmons?
Another vote for Tony Head. He has a warm & engaging voice that is also charming.
John Cleese or Tony Head!
Scott Baio. Charlie in Charge.
So, let me get this straight. 81 yo Robert Wagner is too busy for a voice-over roll? If I recall, Charlie is only heard in maybe 10 mins. per episode. How is he too busy for that?
He could literally phone it in.
It’s “industry speak” for “fired”
Robert Wagner owns a piece of the show.
industry cover up speak for “he quit and this show sucks”.
You’re probably closer to the truth.
Charlie Sheen.
Winning!
Helen freakin’ Mirren. C’mon, who sez Charlie has to be an old man?
Judi Dench
LOVE this idea!!!
Mirren’s a GILF.
He left because he knew this show is going to fail and fail hard. The clips that I have seen are ridiculous especially the blond one that came from Grey’s Anatomy.
Why cast, the show will be cancelled within 4-6 weeks. It will never survive Thursdays at 8 pm against CBS & NBC comedies.
Name the last ABC hit from that time period?
NBC comedies get cultish ratings. CBS has potential– but your biggest problem is FOX. For every Hawaii Five O that succeeds (in its limited way) there is a Bionic Woman that self-destructs. Then again, three attractive women running around in provocative outfits might interest the male demo at that time.
Mike Rowe. His voice over commercials are good.
another vote for MIKE ROW!
John Larroquette!!
Second That
John O’Hurley!
Leonard Nimoy
Stephen Fry.
