Armie Hammer to play the Winklevoss twins again... on 'The Simpsons'! -- EXCLUSIVE

Armie-Hammer-twins-Social

Armie Hammer will double your pleasure once more: In a nod to his role(s) in last year’s big-screen hit The Social Network, the 24-year-old actor has recorded a cameo for The Simpsons as rowing twins Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, EW has learned. In the episode, which is titled “The D’oh-cial Network” and slated to air on Fox early next year, “Lisa creates a social network site in Springfield and gives too much credit to everybody, so we thought of doing a joke involving the Winklevoss twins,” explains exec producer Al Jean. But instead of asking the Winklevi — who famously filed a lawsuit against Facebook creator (and 2010 Simpsons guest voice) Mark Zuckerberg  – to poke fun at themselves, the producers decided to friend Hammer. “We were like, ‘Wait, he played them, that’s who people think they are, we should just get him,’ says Jean, deadpanning: “It’s not like they’re going to sue us.”

Jean also noted that the Simpsons folks enjoyed their time with Hammer: “He was great. And we met him the day after he found out he was the Lone Ranger, so that was even cooler.” While the episode’s Winklevoss wink is rather brief, we can tell you that it does involve the twins rowing in the Olympics against… Patty and Selma. In other Simpsons news, Jean and creator Matt Groening are among the producers who will appear at the show’s panel at Comic-Con on Saturday.

Too fun to have A-Hammer play the Winklevi on “The Do’h-cial Network”. But why no love for Josh Spence who acted as a Winklevoss twin but had his face GCI’d out for Armie’s? Give Josh something to do in this Simpsons ep and work the joke in there somehow. C’mon Simpsons writers, take up the challenge and show me the funny!

    • abadstroller

      Whoops–”Josh Pence”. I stand corrected.

      • Gupta

No one cares about Josh Pence

      • abadstroller

Gupta: And who cares about you? Your mom and your inflatable “friends”?

      • Lisa S

Nobody cares about that dimwit Josh Spence.

    • reel_deal

Pence is busy filming The Dark Knight Rises

  • Daniel F

    Woo-hoo!

    • Adwina Lambert

i want two please and a double dip! tee-hee!

  • Gregoire

The only thing that really sucks about this is that there aren’t really two Armie Hammers.

  • Bigmouth

The cameos are getting tiresome. I’d almost prefer they not use the actual people they parody. That would allow the parody to be much sharper.

  • Carlos H.

Is it me, or have a LOT of “Simpsons” episodes been revolving around Lisa lately?

    • Lisa Simpson

      And the problem is…

      • aln

        That is the problem

  • Joe

The Simpsons were at their bests ten years ago anyway… I don’t like the parody of politics, celebrities or social affairs too much on the show :-/

    • Lisa Simpson

The show has always been satire, and they’ve been doing parodies for decades. It may not be as sharp as it one was, but parodies and satire are certainly nothing new.

Last time the Simpsons made me laugh: 15 years ago.

    • Mark

Last time anyone cared about your opinion: never.

  • Volitare

My friend Mark i disagree. I may not agree with what you have to say but I will defend to the death your RIGHT to say it. So unpatriotic. Voltaire heled champion such ideas of opinions and free speech. its the american way

  • Please cancel the Simpsons now

They need to end this show now… it’s a rotting corpse of an once funny show

    • dee

Gee, is The Simpsons being still on causing you pain? It’s never going to end as long as it still makes truckloads of $$$$$ for Fox (and it still does).

    • Lisa Simpson

You can always watch something else. Or read a book.

  • aln

    Not Another Lisa Episode
