Comic-Con 2011: 'True Blood' cast on wild fans, wild season, geeky interests

So far, the cast of True Blood has been having a bloody good time at Comic-Con. So when they stopped by EW’s VIP lounge, Kristin Bauer van Straten, Alexander Skarsgard, Alan Ball, Kevin Alejandro, and Nelsan Ellis talked about the weirdest things they’ve done for fans, and what geeky interests they have bitten into at the convention. (One cast member is obsessed with The Vampire Diaries. You may be surprised to learn which one!) And those True Blood fans might want to bite into the second part of EW’s two-part interview, during which the second half of the cast — Ryan Kwanten, Stephen Moyer, Deborah Ann Woll, Anna Paquin, and Rutina Wesley — discuss whether Bill and Sookie will ever happen, cage-fighting, and male nudity. Click the jump!

why is EW always pushing the Bill Sookie couple, even on the ew cover voting Bill had only 14 percent…

    • Matt

Maybe because they are the flagship couple of the show. While in the books, it’s obviously Eric/Sookie, on the show it’s Sookie/Bill.

      • Jjbc

Flagship couple on the show because AB seems to have a fasinated weakness for boring characters. A man who aspires to be a third grade teacher is not much of a man to me.

      • iamtrue2bill

Bill&Sookie captivated a large audience in 2008 and continue to draw the audience, not because AB or anyone “pushes them” but because we want to see them. Eric and Sookie have a storyline this season, so “back up the truck” of complaints. Enjoy the show, or use the remote, and re-read the books. Nothing on TB is boring this season!

      • cregis

        I’ve read all 11 books and didn’t see where it’s obvious Eric/Sookie.

    • Tookie

      Jeezuz! Enough with comic-con already.

    • Paula

I find Bill & Sookie the least interesting chrts and the worst actors out of the cast.

      • iamtrue2bill

You are sadly mistaken. They are two of the BEST actors on the show, and the Sookie/Bill/Eric love triangle is the MOST interesting part of the show.

    • Nina

IA, Bill and Sookie was a flop. Nobody cares about them.

  • Candace

Alexander was there! I thought that he wasn’t going!

  • Elle

They really ought to be doing these nice little interviews together more often. They seem so comfortable and fond of each other. It’s really nice to see it.

    • iamtrue2bill

I agree. A great cast that gets along and has fun. It’s also nice to see them in smaller groups. More relaxed and intimate (especially on that little couch!).

  • Jonathan

The interviewer really “likes” saying like.

    • Laurel

I felt that the guy doing the interview was annoying and too hyper.

    • TS

Tim Stack is a decent writer but a HORRIBLE interviewer! The most noticeable thing is that he is so twitchy and giggly stupid that he takes so much of the focus away from the guests and essentially creates a wall. Many of the EW interviewers have been bad (except for Sandra Gonzales and Adam Varys), but Stack is the worst. I kept getting the feel that this was less a professional EW and more a Perez Hilton crap vibe. He should stick to writing.

      • Rick G

Agreed. Be a professional, not a fanboy. Reminded me of the old intentionally pointless Chris Farley interviews on SNL: “Remember when you were in that movie? Yeah… that was great.”

  • Gabi

WOW!! What a difference from the GoT interview! O.O I LOVED this! I love Kristin and Alexander’s interaction LOLOL! Hilariously sexy!

  • tigereyes

I love these interviews. They all get along so well. What a treat to watch. Too bad the fans didn’t. :)

  • Sara

damn stephen is looking gorg in this video! what a sweet cast :)

  • Gregoire

Kristin Bauer van Straten is so freakin’ hot.

    • HD

I KNOW! Much more attractive here than she is on the show. Guess it’s that vampire makeup. She’s stunning.

  • Rashad

I love the ENTIRE cast of True Blood. They are all AWESOME!!!!

  • VPG

I love Alex and Kristin…they are amazing!

  • Mike

They must be reading our comments and improving their interviews. BIG change from the GoT ones….

  • Ares

    AMEN!
Pam is my favorite because of Kristin. She is immaculately hot!

  • eliott256

The cast is really comfortable together…throw in the most awkward interviewer ever “urrrrm *benign question* urrrrm” and it makes them look highly uncomfortable

    • marz

yes please! get rid of that interviewer – not sure what else he does maybe he’s a good writer – so then keep him in the writing group! spare us, and spare the actors

  • Travelocity Gnome

Oh Lordy…the interviewer really is horrible at this. Like, yeah um like so do you like uh, get asked about The Piano alot? Hold on! Let me pull down my too small T-Shirt that keeps scootin’ up my belly… Oh boy… I feel kinda bad for him. Fremdschämen.

    • Emma

      hahahahahahaha

    • Derrick

      lmao

    • tami

      bahahaha!

  • Emma

wow, the guy that plays Lafayette looks very uncomfortable.

    • HD

I just want to know when their names all became so exotic sounding?
