It was a season finale a genius like Sheldon Cooper couldn’t even comprehend: The Big Bang Theory‘s Penny and Raj — that’s right, Raj — did the deed. So when the cast gathered in EW’s VIP studio, I couldn’t resist asking them if they could tease the resolution executive producer Bill Prady discussed during the CBS series’ Comic-Con panel. Unfortunately, even the cast is clueless as to what lies ahead: “We’d love to know what that means,” Kaley Cuoco said about Prady’s words. Oh well. I don’t understand why the article is so confounded about Raj and Penny. Leonard is as nerdy and not as good looking as Raj plus Raj is more interesting. I think there is an element of racism – they seem horrified that a white girl will date a brown guy
Really, your mind goes straight to racism? Like it can’t be strange that two people who’ve never shown any interest in each other would suddenly hook up. And Raj might be interesting to the audience as a TV character, but to a potential date at least Leonard can talk to her without having to be drunk first.
Racism…really. How sad for you. Penny and Leonard have been dancing around the inevitable since the very beginning, so her “hooking up” with one of his best friends, if they actually did, is where the shock lies. Couldn’t be Howard, he’s taken, couldn’t be Sheldon because…well, it just couldn’t.
This plays off Raj’s character development since the show began. He can’t even talk to a woman sober. This leads to Penny’s punchline the next day when they wake up together. There’s no racism.
