'True Blood' near season 5 renewal with Alan Ball on board

True Blood just took another step toward a fifth season renewal.

Alan Ball just told critics at TCA press tour that he’s staying with the show since his deal has been renewed. The showrunner shot down concerns he might leave HBO vampire hit at the end of the season. “No,” he said when asked if he’s leaving, explaining that he’s having a great time on the series.

Not that Blood returning (or a showrunner wanting to stay on a hit series, for that matter), is much of a surprise, but it’s certainly good to hear, especially in the wake of Frank Darabont’s surprise exit from The Walking Dead.

Not unless you want to suffer through Jacob’s writing. His “recaps” don’t recap as much as they just state what he thinks about the characters and the social commentary, et. al. His “Gossip Girl” ones are even worse. If you actually want to catch up on the show, go to Wikipedia or google “True Blood Episode Guide”…way better.

you can on imdb, but beware they have summaries of eps that haven’t aired yet! I suppose spoilers are no big deal:)

Left this show last season, this season seems *much* better, for one thing they seem to have gotten their sense of humor back. Glad to hear that Alan Ball is staying, the recent ep. he wrote was probably the best one since season 1.

  • Liz

Well, Alan is the heart of the show, so that’s good! :)

Too bad he’s staying. I think the show would improve without Ball’s influence and fixation on Bill.

I just hope Sookie doesn’t end up with Alcide. I like him and he’s handsome, but the show is called True Blood . It is based off vampires and ultimately, I would prefer Eric or Bill as her lead lover. Sorry, I am quite the romantic. Plus, Sookie is with Eric for the books right. Yes, Alan Ball has a different story going on compared to the books, but what fun and purpose would Sookie be to vampires if she was involved with Alcide?? Also, please bring back Jesus and don’t kill off Tara. Season 5 cannot come soon enough!!
