First full-length 'Spartacus: Vengeance' trailer is here

Remember during our Comic-Con coverage when I wrote the new Sparty trailer managed to even give the terrific The Walking Dead S2 trailer a run for its money? Then I posted a 30-second teaser that was, you know, just OK? Well, here’s the full version that screened in the room. See what you think. Is Spartacus: Vengeance potentially bigger and better than season one, or are you feeling Whitfield withdrawal?

F your best friend and F you.

    • Chris

As long as there is plenty of naked men walking around the ratings will be gold. That’s really the only reason everyone watches. Homoeroticism at it’s best.

    • Marko

This show is a gay man’s dream come true. Thank you Starz for making this show for us. The success of this series will usher in a wave of more gay friendly shows.

      • Trenton

You get that this show isn’t about homosexuality. Success of shows like the L Word would usher in that…Spartacus is more like 300 meets Rome.

      • Matt

Oh yeah! does the screen grabs and we drool over the hotties! ;9

      • Tom

Captain Oveur: “Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?”

      • Carlos

You are absolutely right. I am a gay man and I love watching those tight bodies and buns. There were many men in those days that practice homoseuxality with other men. I love True Blood too.

      • Pisces228

Marko, this show is made for ANYONE who loves gorgeous men in very little clothing. :-)

    • Let’s Figh About It

ANDY WHITFIELD WHERE ARE YOU? The new guy has big shoes to fill. The trailer looks good and Lucy is deliciously deranged. Can’t wait.

    • Joon

Um…does every show that even remotely deals with gladiators, greek/roman myth or ancient civilizations HAVE to be shot in the same earth/redish tones? Do they all really have to have tons of slow-motion-then-suddenly-fast-forward shots, with fake CGI blood spurting (in slow motion) out of everything, while a pseudo-Rock-meets-Nine Inch Nails soundtrack plays?

AMAZING!!!!! Love Lucy Lawless, this show keeps getting bigger and better

    • MCS

I only watch this show for Lucy Lawless now, her portrayal of Lucretia makes the character so interesting.

I do wish Whitfield was still in it but it looks better then gods of the arena that was just horrible

    • Tuskegee_Brown

Completely disagree. Although it wasn’t as good as Blood and Sand, Gods of the Arena was much better than expected. I thought it was great story and added to a greater understanding of the characters.

    • Pisces228

OMG, how can you say that? I didn’t think anyone could steal my heart from Spartacus, but then Gannicus hit the screen and I flipped! So glad to seen Gannicus in the new trailer!!!

  • Mother Nature

Can’t wait. Loved the deranged Lucy Lawless!

    • Deborah

How on earth did she survive??? But yay, always loved the tension between Lucretia and Ilithyia!

      • donknottz

Did you see her nude scenes?

      • Liz Lemon

She was just stabbed in the stomach, so it wasn’t a fatal wound.

      • Chris

A knife wound should be fatal when your just left there for dead. Especially in those filthy times.

      • Beeps

Oh come on. With this show it’s fairly easy to suspend belief because it’s so ridiculous to begin with. And I mean that with the best intentions!

      • Squee

        She looks rather ghostly…

    • Susie

Can’t wait for it. Lucy Lawless is rocking the crazy look!

    • Brady

Despite the fact that it’s completely unbelievable, I’m so glad that they’re bringing back Lucy Lawless. She was amazing in both Blood and Sand and Gods of the Arena, and it looks like she’s gonna be absolutely insane in Vengeance. Can’t wait for January!

  • Sparky

Loved Batiatus but they had to move the story along. Nice to see Lucritia back!!!

  • gato

    Not enough nekkid menses!! :)

  • Shmoonkey

I’m conflicted! I will miss Andy Whitfield so much, but this looks amazing!

    • Scott

I have to agree. I will continue to watch and I hope the show remains great but i hate when the actors change especially when it is the lead and whitfield was so good.

      • Diesel

You know they changed the actor because he had cancer. Andy also helped choose the actor who took over. Yes he will be missed but they had to choose between recasting Spartacus or leaving us all hanging. They with Andy Whitfield’s blessing gave us what we wanted and that is more Spartacus.

  • Brian

Bringing back Lucretia from the dead giving me bigger concern than the recasting of Whitfield. Don’t get me wrong, I like the character, but it kind of undermines how ballsy the 1st season finale was.

    • Nicole

Except that Lucretia didn’t die. At the end of the finale, it was plainly obvious that she was still alive, she was still moving. Though blood loss was a concern, it’s likely that Crixus stabbed her in a non fatal location, totally easy to explain away.

      • Brian

Yes, I know you can explain it away, but it’s clear she was not brought back to serve the story, but because she was popular. The showrunner has even gone on record about this, the intent was to kill her.

Maybe they can make it work. I hope, at least.

      • Liz Lemon

Lucretia never died though. She’s clearly still moving in the finale.
This was also pointed out by the show’s creators after the finale aired.

      • Chris

The first season finale seems very mediocre now that we know Lucretia lived.

  • yepyep

I cannot wait, im calling the producers and telling them, I want to see it now!!!
How dare they makes us wait so long!!!

  • Richard

it looks good. still, andy whitfield will be missed. i wonder how he is doing…hope he’s on the upswing!

  • Saiko

Conflicted..Yes,Wonder if Lucritia is a Ghost Or Real..Crixus better watch is back (Should of took her head)..hell im not conflicted anymore im Excited

  • Saiko

well maybe not a ghost in someone head.

  • blahdyblah

I will miss Andy Whitfield very much (hope he gets well soon) but, man, does this look great!

  • James

I agree with yepyep. The Bitch is Back (Lucretia played by Lucy Lawless). Get that dirty Bitch the wife of the Legitus.
