The producers of The Simpsons invaded Bartroom, excuse me, Ballroom 20 this afternoon to chat about the animated Fox comedy’s upcoming 23rd season and answer all sorts of fan questions. (They also showed an amusing parody of the Dexter opening credits starring Ned Flanders, which will appear in the show’s annual “Treehouse of Horror” Halloween episode.) Here are 10 things we learned during the panel — and afterward, when we followed up with executive producer Al Jean.

• Surprise, surprise: There will be at least two more Banksy-eseque gags sprinkled throughout the season. “If you liked Banksy, then you’ll like these two,” Jean told EW after the panel. “But it’s not the same thing,” READ FULL STORY »

'Charlie's Angels' Comic-Con panel: Rachael Taylor steals the show

ABC’s Charlie’s Angels Comic-Con panel is at the Hilton next door to the convention center. So perhaps we shouldn’t read too much into the fact the ballroom is only about a third full when the panel takes the stage — fans line up like crazy at the convention center, but drawing them off-site can be tricky.

We see an action-packed new trailer (which is not going to be online for awhile), then the lovely cast take the stage and co-showrunner Alfred Gough explains what’s new in ABC’s reboot compared to the 1970s series and two movies. READ FULL STORY »

'The Vampire Diaries' panel: Soapy, shirtless Damon gets crowd hooting! Plus, Julie Plec on Damon's 'burden'

Wondering what the biggest moment was from The Vampire Diaries panel? Easy: The headline says it all.

Moments before the cast and showrunners (Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Candice Accola, Joseph Morgan and executive producers Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson) hit the stage, fans were shown a seconds-long peek at season 3. The highlight of the footage? Soapy, wet Damon surprising Elena. Dialogue = inconclusive, sadly. The screams that erupted from the crowd prevented proper listening, but the clip should appear online shortly.

Meanwhile, in the press room before the panel, Plec teased the season, saying, READ FULL STORY »

'Fringe' at Comic-Con: Is Jeff Probst or Zach Quinto replacing Josh Jackson? -- VIDEO

Categories: Comic-Con, Fringe

Gee whiz, is John Noble Fringe’s version of Alexander Skarsgard from True Blood? Noble got a huge reception from the crowd in Ballroom 20 at Comic-Con Saturday, but wouldn’t start the panel without  immediately returning the favor. “You guys are the best fans that any company can ever have,” Noble told the crowd. “Seriously, without your efforts, your rabid support, we wouldn’t be here right now. You are the best fans that ever existed.”

The entire cast showed up for the panel, including Blair Brown (Nina) and Lance Reddick (Broyles). But where was Josh Jackson? Since Peter appeared to eradicate himself from existence last season (for more about the mind-bending finale, click here), the producers made the joke that it was time to find a new one. They screened an all-star reel of  “auditions” for the crowd, which included readings from Zachary Quinto, Rebecca Mader, Damon Lindelof, Michael Emerson, Greg Grunberg, Danny Pudi, Jorge Garcia and Jeff Probst. Here’s the clip after the jump: READ FULL STORY »

Being that it’s a new J.J. Abrams show, Alcatraz is kinda hard to summarize in a few short words. Click below to see what they had to say, then check out our report from Wednesday, when we talked to people who were lucky enough to catch a special screening of the pilot during Comic-Con preview night. Comic-Con 2011: Forget the 'Glee' cast. Guess who's graduating on 'Community'?

Community creator Dan Harmon made it clear during today’s panel at Comic-Con: Jeff Winger will be graduating. “There is a four-year story happening that we promised in the pilot,” Winger said. “Joel McHale’s character is there to get his degree. He either has to get that or not. We want the show to last forever, but we need to respect it. He’s got to get his degree and complete his journey.”

So how would Community survive after graduation? Harmon mentioned the key will be learning who the characters are outside of school. “We need to meet their families before the end of season 4 because what if we need the show to go on forever? We need to know these people are.”

Want to see Sarah Michelle Gellar's Comic-Con panel? -- VIDEO

the_ringer

“Oh sure, I’ll host the Ringer panel at Comic-Con — that sounds fun!” Cut to three weeks later, and I’m standing backstage at Ballroom 20, watching 4,000-plus people take their seats to see Sarah Michelle Gellar and the cast of Ringer talk about their new fall drama on The CW. Up until this point I’d felt totally fine — I didn’t even flinch when Guillermo del Toro sat down at the table with me in the green room as I crammed an Italian panini sandwich into my face hole. But then it was time to head to the stage, and as an SDCC employee led us through the cavernous underbelly of the San Diego Convention Center, I began to feel like my entire intestinal track was collapsing in on itself. I’m sure this will come as a major shock to you, but I’m not really much of a public speaker, so the idea of shoving past Nestor Carbonell, Ioan Gruffudd, Kristoffer Polaha, and SMG — who were all lined up behind me, waiting to take the stage — and bolting for the exit did, in fact, cross my mind. Instead, I dug deep, went to my happy place, and strode timorously confidently to the podium. Then everything kind of went blank, and when I came to I was in a Kristoffer-Ioan sandwich posing for a photo with the cast backstage. What I can tell you is that Sarah Michelle and her castmates put on a great show for their adoring fans, as you can see from the highlight reel after the jump. READ FULL STORY »

But few advertisements inspire more unexpected laughs from Comic-Con fans than this relatively low-budget one spotted driving around. Gotta get rid of all those zombies somehow, right? Categories: Comic-Con

If you’re sick from the blues, we’ve got your cure: EW’s Annie Barrett sat down for a spirited and ribald chat with the cast of Childrens Hospital, who visited EW’s VIP lounge during their Comic-Con stay. If you’re looking for an informative, serious conversation with stars Rob Corddry, Erinn Hayes, Megan Mullally, Ken Marino, Lake Bell, and Malin Akerman, look elsewhere. This one only offers 11-and-a-half minutes of pure fun. Those offended by talk of “assginas,” group sing-alongs, and make-out sessions between Akerman and Mullally, look elsewhere. READ FULL STORY »

'Family Guy' producer makes Amy Winehouse joke at Comic-Con

Too soon? Just hours after the news broke that Amy Winehouse had died at the age of 27, executive producer Mark Hentemann mentioned her passing during Fox’s Family Guy panel at Comic-Con. Introducing members of the cast and writers onto the stage, Hentemann asked them if anyone knew whether or not Winehouse was still alive. The audience, in turn, appeared confused — some laughed, some “Oooh”-ed.  Mike Henry, sang a bit of “Rehab” in character, and a seemingly shocked Seth MacFarlane took the stage and quickly asked Hentemann if he had asked anyone about that joke before going on. Writer and producer Steve Callaghan appeared to learn the news of Amy Winehouse while up on stage.

The mood in Ballroom 20 quickly recovered and turned to the undeniably funny: Family Guy showed clips from the upcoming season — which will include Quagmire hitting on Meg, a drug trip that goes horribly wrong for Brian, and even a little bit of clown porn — and announced Ricky Gervais would voice a dolphin in an upcoming episode, with Cate Blanchett and Ryan Reynolds also due to appear in future episodes. They also had a bit of good-natured fun with the sign-language translator who was working towards the front of the stage, asking the woman to re-sign the words for ‘s**t’, ‘bulls***t’ and ‘filthy floppy hobo penis’. Funny in any language?
