BET puts 'The Mo'Nique Show' 'on production hiatus'

BET has announced that The Mo’Nique Show is going on hiatus, and a return appears unlikely, according to the Los Angeles Times. In a statement sent to EW, the cable network says, “The Mo’Nique Show will be on production hiatus beginning in the fall. However, new episodes of the show will continue to air throughout the summer. Mo’nique Hicks and The Mo’Nique Show are important to the BET Networks family and we look forward to continuing our relationship with her.”

The Mo’Nique Show, which drew 1.5 million viewers for its October 2009 debut, now draws about 600,000 viewers per episode, according to BET. There are only seven new episodes remaining. Representatives for Mo’Nique did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

I know BET isn’t high on your list of networks to report on but…This is old news. Welcome to last week EW!

ew is checking their emails from bet today. as a blk guy, this is the best decision BET has made in years.

      • hmm

As a blk lady, I agree with that. I fell asleep one time with bet on and she came on…her screaming woke me up.

FIrst impression says alot when you go places and meet people. The only thing I didnot like about Mo’s Show is the fact that you had to stand outside in line in a parking garage walk up to a folding table before going into the studio. WITHOUT THE AUDIENCE MONIQUE HAS NO SHOW. WITHOUT THE AUDIENCE MONIQUE HAS NO CAREER. WHY WOULD YOU HAVE YOUR AUDIENCE STANDING OUTSIDE IN LINE IN A PARKING GARAGE WAITING TO COME INTO YOUR SHOW. WHEN IT WAS COLD NO PROVISIONS WERE MADE.ALSO, THE AUDIENCE DEPARTMENT STAFF WOULD SEAT LATE PEOPLE DOWN FRONT ON THE FRONT ROW AND IT WAS NOT FAIR TO THE PEOPLE THAT WAS ALREADY IN LINE WAITING. ALSO, THE SECURITY AT TIMES WAS NOT VERY FRIENDLY TO PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY THE OLD BLACK MAN THAT WORKS SECURITY INSIDE THE SHOW. I AM SURE THE MONIWUE SHOW CANCELLED FOR MANY REASONS. I ENJOYED ALL TAPINGS THAT I ATTENDED, HOWEVER, I KNEW THAT THIS DAY WILL COME FOR NO MORE OF MO’S SHOW. BY THE WAY, THE STUDIO WAS INSAINLY COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you not know that all caps mean that you’re yelling? Why are you yelling? That’s just rude! If getting into the studio was that bad, why didn’t you just stay home?

  • Shonn

I was really hoping that it would get better, but it didn’t. She had great guest on the show, however she is not a good interviewer and her guest often times ran the show. I really want BET to step their game up and have more integrity with these shows.

  • Valerie

Please keep the Monique Show on it is a positive show and we need to see more positive images on BET besides these reality shows!! If this is a monetary problem please correct it; the show is worth it!!! Please bring it back and work out any disagreements ASAP!!

    • randy jones

  • jennifer

The Monique show was great, it was funny, classey, and there were so many people that worked late and enjoyed some laughs before going to bed. the guess were off the chain. for some it was their first time on a talk show because they felt relaxed there. not to mention she was inspiring to a lot of heavy people to lose the pounds. Thank you Monique we love you

    • joop

are you guys serious. the show sucked. Im sorry

  • Billie

The Monique show is one of the most high light moments of my family’s night this show needs to continue its a show that has given us back a moment in which we could be really appreciative of the many different talent and versatility that our Black Culture and Community’s can be proud of and even Identify with in a very Positive and influential way please consider it’s positive.

  • Ms Taylor

Monique is such a real, genuine, down to earth sister. Most people can relate to her. She is funny, compassionate, silly and very stylish. Her weight loss has been such an inspiration to so many of us black sisters. Everyone has free will to choose what they do and don’t like. If you do not like Monique or her show..simply.. DO NOT WATCH IT! I hope and pray that her show returns, I DVR every show..I Love her and I love the show.

  • jay

I just found out that Monique show was cancell, please work out something to bring her show back.

  • Tee

Bad decision on BET’s part. They should be the bigger man. Work out the issues and bring Mo back to the airwaves. At least for one more season. The abrupt cancellation made BET look paltry and mean-spirited. Street-word said Mo was a difficult one. Believable, but Debra Lee and the Crew are consummate pros… they should’ve taken the HIGH ROAD, did one more season and then name a replacement host. We still need a black talk show. letterman, Conan and the rest? Give it a rest. We need ARSENIO back, if you wanna be real about it.

  • Kay

    ARSENIO ? YES! That’s a great idea!

I always enjoyed his show. He is intelligent, funny, engaging……..and he’s a thinker!

Please bring back Arsenio Hall. Thank – you!

  • Vanita evans

Why is it everytime that a good positive show is on BET it gets cancelled? I thought thats what BET stood for! Black Entertainment Television! I just wonder why it is always the good shows get cancelled, while the other shows are still on BET? I will not mention any names! YOU JUST LOST A FAN! Please put her show back on! Thank you,

  • Tee

She was loud and i always thought she put on too much. Great outfits tho.

  • ITSME916

I’m late but I just learn Mo’Nique Show was cancelled. I loved her show. I can’t stand the other late night show, they do not have anyone on guests that I can relate to. I enjoyed Mo”Nique’s humor, attitude, her realness. What is wrong with BET? I hope she replaces George Lopez, another sad loss. Have you noticed the TV line-up, LILY

    • lyronda

I was really shocked to hear that the Monique
show might not be returning. I really enjoyed
the positive images that the show portrayed.
She brought guest on that I had’nt seen in years.
The show was very uplifting. I hope they find a
way to keep the show on the air.

  • Neccie
