'SYTYCD': Cat Deeley talks killer heels, busted fingers, and why Ryan Seacrest deserves an Emmy -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

After last night’s dance-packed episode of So You Think You Can Dance, one can understand why host Cat Deeley would want to kick back in her dressing room in a pair of cut-off jeans and her bare feet — especially after getting a look at the pair of four-inch heels she had to wear for the two-hour episode. In an exclusive backstage interview, Deeley also explained how Season 4 SYTYCD winner Joshua Allen caused her a “war wound”; demonstrated her unnerving Mary Murphy impression; and expounded on why she thinks fellow best Reality TV Host nominee Ryan Seacrest deserves to win an Emmy over her: “He has held together the biggest TV show on the planet.” Check out the video below:

I LOVE CAT! She deserves that Emmy!

    • Rummy

Agreed. Could she be any cuter if she tried? Seacrest is great, too, but Cat deserves the Emmy just as much or more. She’s the best and fun to boot.

  • Harlow

No, you make it look the most effortless with your charm and heart, Cat! I don’t think any other reality show hosts have had to deal with as many live change-ups over the years and succeeded in keeping it together as Cat has.

  • Andrew

I don’t thik Ryan deserves the Emmy because I don’t think he is as charsmatic as Cat Deely, Phil Koegan, or Jeff Probst, or Tom Bergeron.

    • Squishmar

And what Cat and Ryan and Tom do is in another league than the others. Live shows are a whole ‘nother ball game and the degree of difficulty goes up exponentially. Thank God they got rid of Heidi Klum in this category. I love Project Runway, but is there another “host” who does less? She’s really more of a judge and otherwise, shows up for 10 minutes to give them their assignment and is off. Sooooo glad Cat took her place.

    • D

      I vote for Bergeron-he’s hysterical.

  • Here & There

Cat, you’re the best. You’re smooth, gracious, warm and loving all while working with unexpected situations. You are genuine. I’ll always remember when you took Twitch’s false teeth and put them in your mouth. No one else would do that. We all love you.

    • Jessica

LOL That was so hilarious. She deserves the win for that alone!

  • debi

Cat Deeley is the best host on TV, hands down! the way she treats those dancers, she really does care!!! your the best!!! Love her..

  • Zach

She is so gracious and wonderful…and so wrong. Ryan might have deserved the Emmy 5 years ago, but not today, not anymore. He is so awkward with the contestants and judges. Cat’s ship isn’t as massive, but she steers it much more effectively. This summer has been SYTYCD’s best season, but even in previous years, she truly elevated it.

“Cat’s ship isn’t as massive, but she steers it much more effectively.” QFE.

      • Squishmar

Yes, that was very well put.

    • D

I am not sure if this has been the BEST season for SYTYCD, but it has certainly seen Cat at her best.

  • SC

Cat has talent and heart! Love her :)

  • tom

I am totally in LOVE with Cat. (it’s okay, Cat…not a stalker…just a gay guy really impressed) She is the coolest host on ANY reality show on tv…and let’s talk about her style and great looks. SHe’s funny, spontaneous, charming and the interaction between her, the panel, the audience, dancers and tv watchers is spot on…100% of the time. Give her the damn emmy please. Ryan Seacrest makes you wanna throw something at the TV.

  • googie

cat + emmy = correct decision!

  • Elizabeth

Cat Deeley & Anne Hathaway play sisters in a movie – go!

I’m late to the SYTYCD party, but I love her to pieces. I think this show, more than any between Cat and the Guest Judges, do a great job of actually reflecting what the audience sees at home, not just turbo-texting tweens.

  • joeycumley

She’s been overlooked far too many times, I hope now that she is on the radar, she will win over the voters hearts and WIN THE WHOLE THING!

  • Eli

All I can think of when watching this is how much I just want to kiss her… it’s awful.

  • Rayze

Love Cat. Do you all hear a lisp or some sort of speech impediment in this interview or am I crazy?

    • D

Not crazy, I was noticing it for the first time too. She doesn’t sound that way on the air. Also, a weird botox thing happening (only in the very middle of her forehead??)…very odd. But I love her no matter what!

      • dazzlechild

It sounds like she has retainers on…

  • ohmy

I heart Cat. Seacrest is a robot.

  • Jan

    Love Cat. Hope she wins.
