The Playboy Club has cast its first guest singer: Colbie Caillat will brighten up the upcoming NBC drama playing famed vocalist Lesley Gore.
The Playboy Club is enlisting a series of stars to portray famous performers from the 1960s in the period drama, and Caillat is the first person cast. She will perform Gore’s classic song “It’s My Party” on the show.
But you can catch Caillat sooner than that on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, where she’s going to perform her single “Brighter Than the Sun” tomorrow night. In the meantime, check out The Playboy Club‘s bunny-stuffed psychedelic poster. The drama premieres Monday, Sept. 19 at 10 p.m.

Yep, I remember when they had Usher play Sam Cooke, among other stars. This is just more of the same. I think the days of ‘original’ ideas for tv are LONG GONE.

Yeah this sounds exactly like the reasoning that American Dreams had for including lots of singers as 60′s performers…

This show is a s—-y rip-off of the Mad Men retro-genre It’ll get lower ratings than The Jay Leno Show. Oooh….boobies…as if I can’t see real full boobies on Game of Thrones. Oh, this is network. Boring…
And who is Colbie Caillat? What do they mean first guest “star”? What a piece of shim shoe.
You may not have heard of her, but she’s a great singer.
I wouldn’t go as far to say she’s ‘great’, but she has a pleasant voice.

As much as this is a major copy-cat of American Dreams, which btw, had the largest group of the worst actors in their cast (Gail O’Grady, for example- ugh), but Colbie LOOKS like Gore, they’ll put a little black wig and she can pass for her sister!
I guess there’s a resurge of interest in 60′s shows now, with this and Pan Am… ugh…..how about another funny 70′s show?
The funny thing is that the first performer to be signed to American Dream’s Version was Michelle Branch playing…. Lesley Gore!!! Interesting.
I don’t think this show is going to last more than one season but I would have liked one more season of American Dreams to see which other rising stars they would get to play 60s artists.
I looked up the actor from this show on youtube because I LOVE Mad men and was hoping this show could keep me going until season 5 of MM comes back but Eddie Cibrian is NO Don Draper. geez. this guy cannot act other than squint and dimple smile so I def cannot see him in a role where he is meant to be shady/mafioso. This show will be lame.
