'The Good Wife' casts new judge -- EXCLUSIVE

The Good Wife‘s streak of having prominent actors play guest judges on the show continues. This time, the CBS drama has tapped Harvey Fierstein for an appearance.

The gravel-voiced actor best known for Torch Song Trilogy, Fierstein is playing a liberal, ex-hippie type who marches to a different drummer. He’ll preside over a case Alicia (Julianna Margulies) is working on with a sharp eye, but rather laid-back speech.

Expect to see Fierstein, who was also in films like Independence Day, in The Good Wife‘s fourth episode this season, with the show returning on its new night and time — Sunday, Sept. 25 at 9 p.m. The show previously booked Lisa Edelstein in a recurring role. Beyond fabulous!!! I am a huge fan and I know he will make an outstanding show even better. Get this man a starring role in something regular & great STAT!!!!!!!

Love the show, the actors, the writing….BUT…. the ‘quirky judges’ thing is not in the show’s best interest. Getting a little too much into David Kelley territory and doesn’t fit the feel of the show. In my opinion…

I’ve seen him on talk shows a couple times. He does not belong on that show!

    Two words only: Randolph Mantooth.

They just cast Alicia’s brother’s boyfriend…..Why couldn’t it have been Harvey?!? Just to see him sparring with Alan Cumming, Chris Noth & the divine Chritine Baranski would’ve been unbelieveable!

    He’s still alive?

I hoped some actor from The wire *LOL*

I enjoy the “quirky judges’ thing–we have televised traffic court with a judge who would fit right in. The show always had a light side, so this streak certainly works. I think Fierstein will be great.

I think Harvey Fierstein is amazing, and anything that gives him work and gets him on television screens is good with me. I *loved* his guest spot on Nurse Jackie last year.
