ABC’s family comedy The Middle is getting a piece of Glee.

Chord Overstreet is set to guest star on the series during its upcoming third season, trading McKinley High for Orson Elementary. He’ll play Ralph Wilkerson, a new and idealistic fourth grade teacher for young Brick (Atticus Shaffer), whose innovative and involved teaching methods run counter to the more relaxed parenting style used by the boy’s parents.

The actor will appear in the Sept. 28 episode of The Middle. The comedy returns Sept. 21 with a one-hour premiere at 8 p.m. More to come…

Glad he found himself another job..good for him:)

  • Liz

Although I do wish he would have stayed on Glee. Im glad for him

    “guest star”? please…

  • Shiva

I hope we see a lot of Brick’s teacher. It’s always funny to see how adults who aren’t related to Brick deal with him.

glad he found another job. love the middle. looks like a nice role. we’ll see where it goes. i was never a particular fan of him as an – actor.

  • Nora

Huh…I guess the rumor that he declined being on Glee next season because he wasn’t interested in acting wasn’t so true…Though I suppose a guest staring role on a sitcom is a lot different than being on Glee full-time.

    • Captain

I think acting has always been secondary to Chord. I think he’s always been a musician first, Glee was more a way for him to get exposure but I do wish he’d stayed. He fit in really well with the cast.

      • Lily

Yes, I wished he has stayed in Glee… He would so be the main character in Season 4. (if there is a season 4).

  • Dave

How old is Chord? He doesn’t look like he’s old enough to play a teacher. He seems old enough to play a friend of Axel’s.

    • Captain

That’s exactly what I thought, he’s 22, he was one of the youngest cast members on Glee. It’s weird that he went from playing a high school student to a teacher but it’s nice just to see him on TV again. I really liked him on Glee. I’m gonna miss Sam.

      • Lily

Me too, I miss him already. Would love to see him and Chris Colfer’s character (Kurt) argueing over Amber Riley’s character (Mercedes).

One hour episode of The Middle!
    sounds awesome already!

  • ben

So he is a guest on a superior show. I watch for Brick outshining him because they are very good actors on The Middle and it deserves more attention than the usual suspects, Glee and Modern Family (despite me being a fan of it).

  • Ray

The Middle is truly one of the best and funniest shows on tv.

  • Rachel K

Does anyone else think he looks just like Justin from Queer as Folk in this picture?!? It’s uncanny.

The squinting (in bright sunlight) changes the lines of his face quite a bit.
