It’s official: MSNBC is giving a nightly talk forum to the Rev. Al Sharpton.

Sharpton has been guest hosting the cable news network’s Live at 6 p.m. show, but today MSNBC made a formal announcement that Sharpton will take over the slot permanently.

Sharpton’s program will be called PoliticsNation and it will make its official premiere on Monday. MSNBC has been criticized for considering the longtime community leader for the gig instead of a black journalist.

Explained MSNBC president Phil Griffin in a statement: “I’ve known Rev. Sharpton for over a decade and have tremendous respect for him. He has always been one of our most thoughtful and entertaining guests. I’m thrilled that he’s now reached a point in his career where he’s able to devote himself to hosting a nightly show. PoliticsNation is going to be an incredibly strong kick-off to our evening schedule.”

Added Sharpton in a statement: “I am very happy and honored to join the MSNBC team as we collectively try to get America to ’Lean Forward.’ It is a natural extension of my life work and growth. We all learn from our pain and stand up from our stumbling and one must either learn to lean forward or fall backwards. I’m glad they have given me the opportunity to continue my forward lean.”

Wonder how long it’ll take before he gets fired!!! No, I’m not being racist, I just don’t like the man! He lives for the publicity he gets from other peoples tragedies!!!

    • mallah

      Like over at faux news?

  • Robert Schinelli

The Rev.Shapton’s placement as a host on Msmbc has sadly pushed me to look for another news program. Bob.

    • Tha Trigga

Wait, you are going to a new news program but he’s been on this program for motnths. Were you wacthing with baited breath for him to be replaced? Read the article. He’s gone. He’s getting a new show. So you don’t have to leave. You can continue watching the program that you must have stopped watching months ago. He’s getting his own show!!!

  • Arbuckle Doc

A big “THUMBS UP!!!”, fer Rev. Al, from ol’ Doc!!! ~ MSNBC, Ya done good!!!

    • danrydell

This man is a joke as a host and has zero credibility.

  • Barack Palin

Haven’t we suffered enough? Why give this racemonger a platform? On the other hand, if Maxine Waters can co-host it would be like a casting call for the next “Planet of the Apes”.

    • AC

Don’t me like that…’re such a sad sad person..try moving on with the world or we’ll leave you behind. HEHEHEHEHEHE

    • mallah

EW – Get off your butts and get this troll off the boards immediately please. Geesh, how much more of these idiotic comments do your followers need to read?

  • AC

OH YEA BABY!!!! I his show…he’s tell it like it is no fancy talking…. Msnbc…I love ya more!

    • Sean

You’re joking, right? He hasn’t once mentioned the hate crimes being perpetrated against white Americans by black teens in the form of flash mobs all over the country. How about the beatings outside of the Wisconsin state fair a few weeks ago? “Reverend” Al is nothing but a fraud and a racist.

      • mallah

like you would know what a racist is…lol.

      • Sean

You’re right. Hate crimes are only perpetrated against minorities. I forgot.

      • AC

Maybe they were making up for all the cruel things that’s happen to blacks for what 400 years… hey what about the man in Jackson the kids just killed for nothing…oh yea who cares he was only a black man…COME ON!!!

      • Sean

And that was probably treated as a hate crime? No?

      • Tha Trigga

Well, see how you ignore the hundred of thousands of hate crimes perpetrated against blacks over the last…um, forever? Well, he’s doing the same. Let us get another million under our belts, then we’ll go ahead and call it even and start reporting everything equally? How’s that?

      • Sean

Who is ignoring anything? The article called it a hate crime, and so did I. And, no, the answer isn’t to treat people differently. You will only foster hate from the other group. Racially motivated crimes against black people are terrible, and should be treated as such. I am simply saying that, becuase black people have been treated poorly in the past, should not give them free reign to commit the same hate-driven crimes with impunity.

  • Michael Fruhling

Sharpton has a devoted following which MSNBC must be seeking to cultivate in deciding to hire him for a prime viewimg slot. I am not an MSNBC viewer, and this decision won’t make me one. They have likely done the math and believe that they will attract incrementally higher viewership from Sharpton versus a different choice.

  • AC

come on little children…stop it. You are adults aren’t you?? so sad so sad…..GO REV AL! LOVE YOUR SHOW LET THE HATERS HATE! HEHEHEHEHE

    • Love all people

The REVEREND Al Sharpton should stand up for ALL people, not just blacks! And that’s not racist!!!!! He LOVES the attention he receives when he looks like he’s protecting other black peoples rights. The only thing I’ve ever heard him say that I agreed with was the speech he made at Michael Jackson’s memorial service!

      • Tha Trigga

Why? Did you speak out about the white guys killing a black guy cause they felt like it from a couple weeks ago? No. You know why? Cause they aren’t your people, right? There are people who will speak up, like Rev Al, so why should you right? Well, he feels the same way but reverse. He’s expecting you to stand up for all races. So go get..pardon the term, cracking!

    • Tha Trigga

No. Only blacks that fit what they feel a black should be can have a show. They hate when the race card is played. Except when the color of the card is theres. What they don’t want to recognize is that the race card has been in play since we got here. But little babys hate that everything isn’t always tilted in their favor so a black guy with a show means only 30 million more for them. they don’t like those statistics. That’s why one black president is one too many. We might mess around and gat another one,a dn they’ll only have a 40+ lead. They need that lead to make themselves feel better and superior. if all things were equal they’d lose a lot and it would crack their reality in two.

      • sydsboy

Think your a bit mixed up over your president comment mate. Surely it was the white vote that got him in.

  • Hanover

I’ve listened to his show a few times on msnbc. I thought his voice would be a little too preachy, him being a reverend and all, But it’s not like that. He keeps his guests under control, he asks good questions and he’s thoughtful in a way I thought he wouldn’t be. But then, I’d only seen him as a guest where he is asked to present a particular point of view not ask the questions.

  • sam

Great, it’ll be an hour of racial this and racial that. I’m off to CNN or Fox News. Bye MSNBC.

    • Fran Prothro

    • Fran Prothro

Good!!!! With any luck you will stay over are better yet FOX that is really more to your liken.

  • G Dixon

Remember freedom of speech? It’s always good to have different views. It makes for healthy dialog.

  • Pslightly Psycho

It is a sad day for journalism when a so-called “Reverend” who specializes in white bigotry and does NOTHING constructive to aid the black community in healing their destructive ways (what does he have to say about the flash mobs from this past summer???) has his own show. It should be called “RACE CARD WITH AL.” He has a deep-seated hate against the white man. Martin Luther King Jr. must be shaking his head in disgust.

  • Dicazi

And my opinion of MSNBC gets lower.

  • Danny

    He’s the black Denny Crane.

    • David

      He’s the retarded Nancy Grace.

  • x

thanks, MSNBC!!! i needed a good comedy to watch at 6 pm. has anyone seen him on this show?? yikes!!! it’s like the greatest skit SNL could come up with. i think our esteemed leader needs to give him a lesson in ‘HOW TO USE A TELEPROMPTER’.

    • amy

Can we have an Amen? lol You speak the truth!!!
