With the new cast of Dancing With the Stars announced, the playful trash-talking can officially commence. At least half of this year’s contestants consider David Arquette the favorite to win, including Ricki Lake, who did an interview with Arquette this morning on Good Morning America and said, “I did not come to do second. I’m gonna try to beat this guy.” For his first dance, Arquette is learning the Viennese Waltz. “I’ve always wanted to know how to waltz…. I’ve always wanted to dance at a ball,” he said. Sure. Why not?
In an interview with former DWTS contestant and GMA contributor Cameron Mathison, contender Rob Kardashian said he expects Elisabetta Canalis to be fierce competition. “She was telling me she swims, she runs, she loves to hike. She told me she’s 25, when I know she isn’t,” he laughed. During her chat with Mathison, Canalis joked her way out of answering a question about how her famous ex George Clooney might view her turn on the show. That’s understandable, obviously, but also frustrating. What else do we have/want to talk with her about?
Other contestants, meanwhile, expressed their fears: Nancy Grace doesn’t want to fall (“Because they didn’t teach dancin’ in law school, honey”), and Ron Artest is hoping he won’t have to wear feathers.
The new season of Dancing With the Stars premieres Sept. 19.

So tired of this show…. the entire FORMAT, of the dancing show competition, really. Its totally played out.
Then don’t watch
You don’t have to watch a show to hate its existence.
You do have to watch it to be tired of it.
No you don’t, you can be tired of hearing/reading about it.
“I think that because this is not to my taste, no one else should be able to enjoy it!” –Marge Simpson
Ron Artest is hoping he won’t have to wear feathers.
Which, of course, means they’re going to put him in feathers at the first available opportunity. Especially if Kym is his partner–she seems to love feathers.
is david arquette retarded?
No, but you probably are…
I could use the tired line of”don’t you have to actually be a star to be on this show” but I won’t.
But as a fan of The Soup, I will say that it’s like Christmas has come early.
Exactly – My first thought when I saw the contestants is Joel McHale and the Soup team have just won the lottery – can’t wait!
TRUTH!
I didn’t think about that aspect. Now I’m kicking myself. Go Soup!
I hate this show, and every other show like it. But I’m watching it for Hope Solo. She rules, in every conceivable way. If she loses, though, I’m gone.
Then don’t watch.
Did you even read the whole comment?
She’s not. She’s too busy copying and pasting the same damn thing to read.
When the contestant list reads: Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, Liam Neeson, Viggo Mortensen, Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, Will Smith, Sigourney Weaver, Tom Cruise, Samuel L. Jackson, Kirsten Dunst & Kate Beckinsale…THEN they can call it Dancing with the “Stars”!
Bring on Elijah Wood, Bruce Willis, Ellen Degeneres.. THOSE are stars!
Why do you even bother posting? Stars of that level will never compete.
And, they never have! This show has never had A-listers and it is 13 seasons deep. When will people stop complaining about it?
Ellen Degeneres? really?
True, stars of that level won’t compete on this show. But the stars they do have competing on this show … wow … only one here I would seriously consider watching — Hope Solo. The rest of the cast makes me NOT want to watch.
I agree. I think Hope Solo is the favorite, not Arquette.
I will probably vomit during rehearsal footage of Chaz
I am sorry, I won’t be watching this season. And it’s because of Nancy Grace, a woman I absolutely cannot stand.
Well, at least you said you were sorry.
I have tried to write a few things bad about Nancy Grace, but I will wait until she falls on her ass…. then that will be good enough for me!
Yes – but think how satisfying it would be to see her voted off the first night!
This has to be the worst group ever. The only thing injured about Ryan O’Neal was his pride. He had to be ashamed of being seen with this group. I have watched since the beginning but I will skip this year and hope for a better group next year. IF YOU SURVIVE this year and I hope you do.
If Nancy Grace doesn’t win get ready to be chastised for not picking the right person. I don’t like her either. She is political not a star.
David is a strong favorite! he will have the support of Howard Stern and all of his followers. I will be voting for him every week.
I love this show for showing me a sober Steve-O and making root for him. I actually really like him now.
Or for showing me a softer Lil Kim. This is a show where you really see stars personalities.
I can’t stand David Arquette, but if he’s the overwhelming favorite, I guess I’m just not part of the overwhelmed.
Hey so where is the token senior citizen,or the teenage Disney drone this show usually casts?
DWTS makes me physically sick, the cast and dancers are so arrogant …who really cares about these losers?
I totally agree with Toby…..who cares???
