90210 is about to bring on its own Mr. Big: EW has learned exclusively that Chris McKenna has signed on for multiple episodes to play Patrick, a rich, powerful and very charming businessman who falls for Annie (Shenae Grimes).
But she may not want to pursue this relationship: Patrick continues to date other women in other cities. He doesn’t do it to be mean; he’s just too darn busy to be a one-woman man. The producers describes him as a young Mr. Big — a smooth mover who gets what he wants.
McKenna has made numerous TV appearances on dramas like Harry’s Law, Rizzoli & Isles and NCIS: Los Angeles. He also played Joey Buchanan on One Life to Live.
90210 returns to the CW on Sept. 13.

I remember him from OLTL!!! He was young teen Joey (before Nathan Fillion) when Ryan Phillippe was on as gay teen Billy Douglas. He has grown up to be very handsome.
OMG! I was like “Chris McKenna … Chris McKenna … Joey Buchanan!” He was a goofy (not in a bad way) Joey, only because he was so young. I remember him when Megan died. And you’re right, DAHYEM, he’s very cute!!!
They took away afternoon soaps for this? Spelling Goldberg reruns do not interest me.
Ah, I do remember him. He was my second favorite Joey (after Nathan Fillon of course). Any word on whether he will return before OLTL ends? I may have to tune in.
Does this mean that Liam is totally gone? And seriously–I’m sure a lot of worldly Mr. Big types fall for college freshmen. But I’d buy this storyline more if he was a love interest for Naomi.
Okay so this guy is pretty cute and so is Liam. There is no way that someone as shallow and unattractive as Annie would ever end up with any of these guys.
Annie is the most annoying character on this whole show, and that’s saying something.
so true, she is the most annoying character on the show!
Ok, out of all the people to be calling shallow on this show, Annie is not one of them. Naomi and Adrianna are shallow as hell and everyone loves them for it. Furthermore, you need your eyes checked because Shenae Grimes is a beautiful girl. She may not be as pretty as Jessica Stroup, but she’s pretty and actually capable of closing her mouth on occaision (which is more than I can say for a certain blonde actress).
It doesn’t matter. She still has too many annoying traits and isn’t as attractive as the other girls.
@Zach – In YOUR opinion.
Welcome Back Chris! I was one of the many OLTL viewers who was upset when the show fired you and recast Joey with a ‘model type’. You were sorely missed in the role but I’m so happy your still in the game and enjoying success with 90210.
BTW, OLTL viewers should know that the powers that be wanted to make Joey gay but got some pushback from ABC. That’s when Ryan Phillippe came on as a new character who was friends with Joey and later revealed he was gay. That was one of the shows BEST storylines ever.
WOW!!!! I thought I recognized his face but I just couldn’t place him. He grew up hot!!! Too bad he never returned to reprise his role as Joey. He would have been great!
Can someone please tell me how Annie’s hit and run thing played out? Did she get in trouble? What happened???
Apparently she spent the summer between season 2 and season 3 on “house arrest”. Seems like the perfect punishment for a minor killing a man in a DUI accident…in 90210 world, that is.
Yeah, a rich girl who accidently kills a homeless person… It’s kind of unfair, but would justice actually really punish her with more than a house arrest (in Beverly Hills ?)… No can say…
He reminds me of a young Thorsten Kaye. Very cute indeed!
Chris McKenna did indeed grow up into such a beautiful man. Delish!
am in the only one thinking he looks too old for her?
All I can think of when I read this casting news is, that’s disgusting. He’s 37 and Shenae is 21. And she plays a 18-19 year old, while giving his looks he couldn’t play someone younger than low-to-mid 30s.
I liked 90210 in season 3 and what the show has morphed into after the horrible 1st season, but this is just awful and disgusting.
37??? Chris McKenna is in his early 30′s, looks fabulous, and is one of my favorite actors. Great casting!
