'Suits': Inside the mind and office of Harvey Specter

Categories: Suits, Television
Harvey

Gabriel Macht, who stars as Suits‘ Harvey Specter, one of New York’s best (and best-dressed) legal closers, had an idea that USA would renew the show for a second season even before creator Aaron Korsh announced it on set last week as they were shooting the Sept. 8 season 1 finale. In addition to making USA the most-watched network on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET this summer, “Everybody at USA was constantly telling us how great the show is,” Macht says. “Jeff Wachtel, who co-runs the network, was like, ‘Gabriel, I’m telling you. We pull out our pens to take our notes for each episode, then all the sudden, we put the caps back on the pens and we just watch, and we’re entertained, and we don’t have any real notes.’ That was pretty exciting to hear along the way.”

With four episodes left this season — and 16 episodes ordered for 2012 — it’s officially safe to let ourselves get invested in trying to figure out who the mysterious man who only wears Tom Ford suits is. We asked Macht for some clues. Here’s what he had to say: READ FULL STORY »

Former Gigantic star Ryan Rottman (left, yum) will appear in next season of 90210, EW has learned.

Rottman, whose other credits include a guest spot on Greek and Nickelodeon’s Victorious, will play Shane, a smart, handsome gay 20-something who is confident in his identity and is committed to fighting for marriage equality.

Hmmm, sounds like he’d be a perfect new friend for Teddy. Am I right?

The new season of 90210 kicks off Tuesday, Sept. 13.

'Ultimate Fighter' moves to FX with live fights on Fox

It’s official: UFC is moving to Fox and FX, with Spike TV canceling its long-running reality hit The Ultimate Fighter.

As part of a multi-year deal, Fox will air four live UFC fights per year. Ultimate Fighter will now air on FX. Instead of taping Fighter months in advance like on Spike, each Fighter episode will be shot the same week as when the episode airs and will followed by a live fight. FX will carry six regular fights per year in addition to 24 Ultimate Fighter

“This is the pinnacle,” says UFC president Dana White on a conference call with reporters, talking about landing on Fox. “This is what I always wanted. I couldn’t be more proud. All those people who thought i was a lunatic 10 years ago when I said this was going to be the biggest sport.”

White assured that the broadcast fights will be significant match-ups, rather than saving all of the important bouts for Pay Per View. “We want to pull ratings, we want to pull the big numbers,” White said.

Russell Armstrong to mother before suicide: 'They're just going to crucify me this season'

Russell-Armstrong

UPDATED BELOW: Russell Armstrong was more than $1.5 million in debt at the time of his suicide Monday, according to his attorney, and his mother told Headline News that he was dreading the way he would be portrayed in the upcoming season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. “Before the new season even started, before he took his life, he said, ‘Mom, they’re just going to crucify me this season,’” John Ann Hotchkiss told HLN’s Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell. “He said, ‘I don’t know what to do. I’ll never survive it.’”

Armstrong’s attorney Ronald Richards told ABC News that the show’s celebration of outrageous excess plunged Armstrong into debt “as a result of trying to keep up with expectations for the lavish lifestyle portrayed on the show.

“These couples join these shows, and then they keep trying to outdo each other and they end up spending all their money trying to sustain a lifestyle that’s unrealistic and wasn’t there prior to the show,” continued Richards. “The weekly social events, the dinners and all the BS, trying to pretend you have unlimited resources in Beverly Hills is tough. When every night is a potential sound bite or posting on a website, you end up getting addicted to it, you go out all the time.”

Bravo declined to comment on these remarks. The network currently has Housewives scheduled for a Sept. 5 premiere, but recent events have brought into question whether the network will still air the show as planned.

MTV has fired back at Abercrombie & Fitch after the clothing company offered Jersey Shore‘s The Situation money to not wear its clothes.

“It’s a clever PR stunt,” writes MTV’s Lisa Chudnofsky in a rebuttal posted on the network’s blog, “and we’d love to work with them on other ways they can leverage Jersey Shore to reach the largest youth audience on television.”

She continues:  “Oh, Abercrombie, what kind of snowball hath y’all set in motion? We hate to add to the avalanche of publicity that A&F is currently eating up at the expense of our innocent reality TV icons (who declined to comment because they were too busy getting more famous) — mostly because that was the whole point of this shenanigan, wasn’t it? — but we’re all family here at MTV, and no one messes with our “Situation.” There are plenty of neon sweatpants in the sea of franchised fashion, so we encourage him to take the money. And donate it all to Ed Hardy.”
