Miss Piggy visits 'Take Two with Phineas and Ferb' -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

In a melding of two great children’s franchises, Miss Piggy of The Muppet Show meets Phineas of Disney’s Phineas and Ferb series this Saturday, when the animated character grills the puppet in one of the show’s Take Two with Phineas and Ferb shorts.

The two-minute(ish) segment — which EW has an exclusive first look at below — finds Miss Piggy being her usual diva self. “What was it like growing up on a farm?” Phineas earnestly asks her, on the Leno-esque show. “Very humbling,” she replies, before going into diva mode: “I don’t like being humble, so I got out fast.” The interview continues and Miss Piggy pulls off two wardrobe changes before finishing the clip with an outlandish song.

The second season of Take Two with Phineas and Ferb debuted July 23 on the Disney Channel and featured an interview with soccer superstar David Beckham. Although the series usually airs on Disney, this latest episode will be featured in a commercial break during the re-airing of the franchise’s recent Disney Channel Original Movie on ABC this Saturday, Aug. 20, at 8 p.m.

Other celebrities who will appear on Take Two later this season include Jason Segel, Shaun White, Ty Pennington, Tom Bergeron, Guy Fieri, Ben Stiller, and Larry King.

'The Office': Stephen Collins, Dee Wallace to guest as...

Categories:

7th Heaven patriarch Stephen Collins is stopping by The Office.

Collins (No Ordinary Family) tweeted earlier today that he’s doing a spot on the show, adding the cast is a “ridiculously fun & talented group, including @Rainnwilson who I worked w/in his 1st job in ’89 in the Park.” The actor will play Andy Bernard’s (Ed Helms) father on the show.

And who will play Andy’s mom? EW can exclusively report that role goes to Dee Wallace (E.T, Sons & Daughters).

The news comes on the heels of EW learning that The Office is looking to keep the much-discussed manager post in the family. See that interview with Office showrunner Paul Lieberstein and new boss James Spader here.

Not bad for an 11-minute dose of ridiculata that airs on Cartoon Network at midnight: Childrens Hospital has been renewed for a fourth season, the network confirmed to EW. Adult Swim has ordered 14 episodes of the comedy, which was created by and stars Rob Corddry. The fourth season will premiere in 2012. “I’m very pleased and honored by this announcement,” said Corddry in a statement. “I’m also very surprised, given that I write this show when I’m very, very drunk. Season four promises to be a cry for help.”

Party Down fans won’t want to miss the August 25th episode (Adult Swim, 12 a.m. ET), in which Lizzy Caplan, Ryan Hansen, and Martin Starr drop by Childrens Hospital for the ultimate catering gig: Dr. Glenn Richie (Ken Marino)’s bar mitzvah. Marino and Megan Mullally will be living caterer/doctor double lives! The only missing link: Adam Scott.

The Good Wife‘s streak of having prominent actors play guest judges on the show continues. This time, the CBS drama has tapped Harvey Fierstein for an appearance.

The gravel-voiced actor best known for Torch Song Trilogy, Fierstein is playing a liberal, ex-hippie type who marches to a different drummer. He’ll preside over a case Alicia (Julianna Margulies) is working on with a sharp eye, but rather laid-back speech.

Expect to see Fierstein, who was also in films like Independence Day, in The Good Wife‘s fourth episode this season, with the show returning on its new night and time — Sunday, Sept. 25 at 9 p.m. The show previously booked Lisa Edelstein in a recurring role. And if you haven’t seen the drama’s provocative season three poster, you must click over to this.

'Bachelor Pad' couple Jackie and Ames talk break-up: 'I feel like the rug was kinda pulled out from underneath me,' she says

Ames-jackie-Bachelor-Pad

The happy ending for Bachelor Pad contestants Jackie Gordon and Ames Brown was short-lived. In separate phone interviews with EW today, they confirmed their relationship has already ended. On the episode that aired last night, Ames romantically chased after Jackie’s limo after she was evicted, taking himself out of the competition, worth $250,000, to be with her.

Following the show, the two spent a week in Napa together for a “remedial wine country tour,” Ames says, and Jackie, who’d watched him on The Bachelorette and frequently posted her appreciation for him on Twitter and Facebook, says she fell for him even more. “I woke up every day happy,” she says.

They returned to New York City, where they dated for a week or two more in secret because he was still on The Bachelorette and they couldn’t be seen together. “As for what happened later, it ended a little suddenly,” she says. “I was pretty taken aback, kinda knocked down a little bit. I thought that he was the one. I certainly fell in love with him. I feel like the rug was kinda pulled out from underneath me. I feel like we went from perfection and the potential to be the perfect couple to kind of having my heart broken.” READ FULL STORY »

PTC 'shocked' (shocked!) there's naughty animated TV shows

Categories: Television

In what seems like a dispatch from the early days of South Park and Family Guy, the Parents Television Council’s latest target is animated TV shows. The watchdog group says they’ve discovered “shocking” levels of adult content during a study that looked at animated programs on Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, Nick at Nite, and Disney Channel.

“We’re not talking about cartoon characters slipping on banana peels and ramming into doors,” wrote PTC President Tim Winter, stunned animation has evolved beyond Tom & Jerry. “Our data demonstrates that today’s norm is profanity-laden storylines involving everything from rape and cocaine to STDs and crystal meth.”

That’s right: The average cartoon on Disney Channel contains rape, cocaine, STDs, and crystal meth. Wait, what? We circled back to the PTC on this. (Whether you agree with their politics or not, they’re always really polite.) See their explanation on that point further down in this piece. READ FULL STORY »

Casey Anthony’s parents will break their silence to Dr. Phil during his season 10 premiere episode.

Airing Sept. 12, the interview will mark the first time Cindy and George Anthony have spoken publicly since their daughter was acquitted of murder charges in July. “Cindy and George have suffered a horrific loss with the untimely death of their granddaughter Caylee, and they have since endured an unprecedented public attack on their family,” Dr. Phil said in a release. “Have these attacks been warranted, or not? I looked them straight in the eye and asked some very tough questions. Despite living under a ‘media microscope’ for years, THEIR story has never really been told and there’s so much more to it than we’ve heard in the media. Throughout this extensive interview, we explore every detail of their ordeal, and they answer every question I know will be on our viewers’ minds. Nothing is off limits during this interview.”

Taylor Armstrong in 'Real Housewives' season premiere: 'I'm trying to keep my family together'

Russell-Armstrong

The season 2 premiere of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, sent to media outlets well before news of Russell Armstrong’s tragic suicide, documented a couple trying to rebuild a fragile marriage that was put in the spotlight during the show’s first season. (He denied some of the abuse charges.) Read on to learn what happened in the premiere. (SPOILER ALERT for those who wish not to know.) READ FULL STORY »

ABC and Fox’s reality shows continued to battle it out Monday night — and, once again, food beat romance.

Fox had its highest-rated summer Monday in four years, with Hell’s Kitchen (6.8 million viewers, 2.8 preliminary adults 18-49 rating) and MasterChef (6 million, 2.4) dominating the evening. Hell’s was steady with last week, while MasterChef climbed 4 percent as the show presented its final four.

The second week of Bachelor Pad (6.3 million, 2.1) dipped 9 percent in the ratings with a two-hour show compared to last week’s three-hour mega premiere.

Study: Watching TV takes years off your life, but...

Categories:

Watching TV zaps years from your life, according to new study making national headlines that isn’t quite being straightforward with you.

Researchers in Australia are reporting that, on average, every hour spent watching television after the age of 25 decreases the amount you live by 22 minutes.

“As a rule, the more time we spend watching TV, the more time we spend eating mindlessly in front of the TV, and the less time we spend being physically active,” explained Dr. David L. Katz, director of the Prevention Research Center at Yale University School of Medicine to HealthDay.com. “More eating and less physical activity, in turn, mean greater risk for obesity, and the chronic diseases it tends to anticipate, notably diabetes, heart disease and cancer.”

Before you throw your soul-sucking flat screen out the window, here’s a key thing to remember: READ FULL STORY »
