Comedy Central has announced its first round of celebrity roasters for Charlie Sheen’s big event next month.

Not exactly huge celebrities, but as roastmaster Jeff Ross pointed out, it’s all about who can bring the funny: Comedy Central has enlisted TMZ founder Harvey Levin, Jackass star Steve-O, and heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson. Comedians Anthony Jeselnik and Ross will also take the stage for the show, which airs the same night as CBS’ Two and a Half Men premiere, Sept. 19.

Fred Willard to star in 100th episode of 'The Closer' -- EXCLUSIVE

Fred-WillardImage Credit: Michael Buckner/Getty ImagesFred Willard will help Kyra Sedgwick and Co. celebrate a very special milestone of The Closer. EW has learned exclusively that the funny man from the Christopher Guest flicks will play “Santa Jack” in the 100th episode.

Yep, the veteran actor from Best in Show (as well as numerous sitcoms like Back to You and Everybody Loves Raymond) will play St. Nick. In the episode, Willard will depict the owner of a Christmas Village where a serious casualty occurs on a zip line. TNT’s official take: “Fighting elves and competing St. Nicks argue over the true meaning of Christmas while Brenda (Sedgwick) reminds people they have the right to remain jolly.” Nice!

Meanwhile, Willard’s character has delusions that he’s the real Father Christmas. Sounds like perfect casting for Willard, last seen making a cameo on TNT’s Franklin and Bash.

His episode will air Dec. 5.

'Sons of Anarchy': Season 4 will be badass, and not just because of guest star Danny Trejo

FX’s Sons of Anarchy returns with its 90-minute season 4 premiere on Sept. 6, and if the new promo featuring Machete‘s Danny Trejo doesn’t get you revved up, we don’t know what will. Watch it below.

After 14 months in the slammer, our favorite gun-running motorcycle club is reunited on the outside. Jax (Charlie Hunnam) emerges with a deeper commitment to his family with Tara (Maggie Siff), while Clay (Ron Perlman) — struggling even more with the chronic arthritis in his hands — feels like his time as leader is running out. (If you can’t ride, you’re out of the MC.) Both want to bank big money. “What it does to Clay’s outlook on the club’s ability to become independent so that they’re not beholden to anybody or anything is rather ruthless,” Perlman tells EW. “There’s an insanity to it almost in terms of its urgency.” He’ll make a business decision that divides the club and paves the way for Trejo and The Shield’s Benito Martinez to recur as new allies starting in episode 2 — SAMCRO will supply guns to a Mexican drug cartel and mule cocaine.

The Perlman-Trejo pairing is definitely one to look forward to. After watching one of their scenes together, SOA creator Kurt Sutter told EW, “It’s like these two battle-weary generals talking about the fates of their soldiers, and both of them played it with this great gravitas. As well as being badass, Danny just brings weight to everything he does.”  READ FULL STORY »

The Mythbusters — one of the few unscripted basic cable shows that can pack a ballroom at Comic-Con — has announced its fall premiere date, plus a list of the myths they’re going to take on.

The team will return on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 9 p.m. You would think at this point they’d be running out of myths to take on (and a couple these, let’s face it, do seem a little thin). Here’s the rundown: READ FULL STORY »

Jon Cryer reveals 'Men' details: Alan is Ashton's love mentor, Charlie's death addressed all season -- EXCLUSIVE

Things are pretty different on Two and a Half Men this fall — both on the hit series and behind the scenes — and EW has some fresh intel about the newly top-secret comedy: Jon Cryer’s character Alan Harper will now be the experienced ladies man on the show. Charlie Sheen’s character not only dies in the much-discussed premiere, but his absence will be dealt with throughout the entire season. New hire Ashton Kutcher (who plays Walden Schmidt, a brokenhearted billionaire) is helping keep stress levels low off-camera by providing the Men crew with access to his decked-out party trailer and massage therapist. And all the while, the comedy’s storylines are suddenly under guard like on a Christopher Nolan thriller, with studio-audience members signing nondisclosure agreements and actors getting watermarked scripts.

Below, the Emmy nominee gives his first (and quite funny) in-depth must-read interview about all the changes on the new Two and a Half Men:

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: So how are things going on that certain CBS sitcom that’s been getting so many headlines this past year?
JON CRYER: You’re talking, of course, about The Big Bang Theory. No, things are going great. Working with Ashton is a blast. Audiences have been going nuts for him. He’s clearly a guy who missed doing sitcoms quite a bit. He just lights up on show night. It’s a lot of fun for he and I because we have to discover what works between us, and he’s game for anything. There’s already — lines have been crossed already that probably never should have been crossed, as you’ll see in the first episode.

So the Men nude teaser poster that was released, that moment might manifest in the first episode? READ FULL STORY »

USA's 'Suits' changing its showrunner

Categories: Suits, TV Biz

USA’s Suits is having a change of showrunner. The network’s veteran writer-producer Sean Jablonski is stepping down from running the freshman drama. Sources says there’s no Walking Dead-style controversy here, though. The show was created by Aaron Korsh and networks often bring in a more experienced showrunner like Jablonski to handle a series out of the gate. With Korsh having learned the ropes quickly, he’ll now run the show as an executive producer in season 2.

The voice of Ryan Reynolds may soon be returning to your TV set on a weekly basis: Fox has ordered a presentation and script for the 34-year-old film star’s And Then There Was Gordon, EW has confirmed. (Deadline first reported the news.) The project — which chronicles the adventures of an average kid whose siblings and mother are super smart — would be produced by Reynolds, who starred in the 1998-2001 ABC comedy Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place, and feature his vocal stylings. He will also pen the script with Allan Loeb (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, The Dilemma). Reynolds may not be the only big celebrity attached to this potential series: Oscar-winner Sandra Bullock, his co-star from The Proposal, is currently in talks to produce and voice as well.

Just last week, Reynolds’ and Loeb’s production company, Dark Fire (which is producing Gordon with 20th Century Fox TV), sold another project to Fox — a Guidance, a live-action buddy comedy series starring Reaper‘s Tyler Labine.

You can check out the full pilot after the VMAs (the series doesn’t officially premiere until next year) and here’s the first online sneak peak of the show (and, yes, the trailer explains the title): READ FULL STORY »

InsideTV Podcast: Jeff from 'Big Brother' defends his homosexual Dumbledore rant; Daniele calls Rachel a 'disgusting person'

There were fireworks on last night’s double eviction episode of Big Brother. And there were fireworks today when Jessica Shaw and I spoke with Daniele Donato and Jeff Schroeder on the latest edition of the TVInsiders Podcast. First up, Daniele called in to talk about playing in a house full of people too afraid to make a move. Of course, her strongest words were reserved for Rachel, whom she describes as a “disgusting person” (among other choice things). Then it was Jeff’s turn, and the big fella — who admits to still being in a state of shock —  laid right into Shelly, Kalia, and Porsche. And then the interview got really awkward. Asked about the controversial comments he made while in the house about having a problem with Dumbledore from Harry Potter being gay (“He’s in a school with little kids! You don’t want to make that guy gay!”), a clearly annoyed Jeff defended himself (while not really explaining what his issue with it was) before eventually apologizing and saying “I have no problem with gay people whatsoever.” Like I said, awkward. And confusing. Listen in to hear for yourself. READ FULL STORY »

Longmire is set to become A&E’s fourth drama following The Beast, The Glades and Breakout Kings and will premiere next year.

ABC denies asking Ricky Gervais to host Oscars

golden-globes-gervaisImage Credit: Paul Drinkwater/NBCRicky Gervais is once again claiming NBC wants him to return as Golden Globes host despite his seeming bridge-burning performance last January, but this time he threw the Oscars into the mix too.

“NBC have offered it — they think they can persuade the Hollywood Foreign Press Association,” he said at the MediaGuardian Edinburgh International TV Festival on Friday, according to UK paper The Guardian. ”But I don’t think they will go for it.”

While the lights of Broadway prepare to dim on Sunday for Hurricane Irene, the lights on the set of The CW’s One Tree Hill have already gone dark. The show, which shoots in Wilmington, N.C., has shut down production for Friday and Saturday. Star Sophia Bush tweeted late Thursday, “OTH production has been canceled for tomorrow. All our fans in town, please stay inside! We will not be filming. Stay safe #HurricaneIrene.” Costar Austin Nichols also announced the news to fans: “Shutting down production tomorrow. Can’t wait to dance with this large woman called Irene.” In a statement, a rep for the show says, “As a precautionary measure and in consideration of our cast and crew, One Tree Hill production has shut down for today and tomorrow due to Hurricane Irene. We will continue to monitor the situation over the next few days.”
