Another performer has joined The Biggest TV Show Cast in the Universe. A British actor (you probably guessed that) named Patrick Malahide had joined Game of Thrones season two as Balon Greyjoy, with the news first reported on WinterIsComing.net. Malahide has appeared in movies like The World is Not Enough and Billy Elliot.

Balon Greyjoy is Theon’s stern father, the ruler of the Iron Islands.

For those who missed the other news, the Thrones production will expand to two more countries in season 2 (get those details here). And here are the other season 2 cast updates: Here’s who will play Craster, Bolton, and Gilly. Here’s the assassin Jaqen, Theon’s fierce sister, Stannis and Melisandre and Davos; here’s who’s cast for Brienne and here’s Margaery Tyrell. Check out my Game of Thrones season 1 recaps here.

Fox reviving Christian Slater's 'Breaking In'

Fox looking to bring back Breaking In after basically canceling the show earlier this year.

The network is working on a 13-episode order of Christian Slater’s sitcom, which started strong in the ratings then dropped off during midseason and didn’t receive a second-season order. The decision is part of a larger deal with the show’s co-creator Adam F. Goldberg, who’s also working on a sitcom about growing up in the 1980s that sources say the network wants, but studio Sony Pictures TV is bundling the new project together with a revival of Breaking In (sort of like how you can’t get The Godfather box set without being stuck with Part III). The news marks the latest development in Slater’s TV comeback, which finally gets the actor a second season on a show. He started with NBC’s My Own Worst Enemy, then went to ABC’s The Forgotten, and then to Fox’s Breaking In.

'Late Late Show' anthrax scare: Mysterious powder was corn starch, says CBS

Categories: Late Night, Television

As Craig Ferguson outlined on The Late Late Show Tuesday night, the series had received a threatening letter Tuesday that included an unknown white substance. (Said Ferguson in his monologue: “It’s a very scary situation … My first concern, of course, was for my staff. And by staff, I mean penis.”) Now, the powder, which resembled anthrax, has been identified. A rep for The Late Late Show has confirmed with EW that the substance in the letter — which was sent from a European address — was actually corn starch. “The LAPD and FBI are currently investigating the situation,” CBS says in a statement.

Food Network host's profane, boob-grabbing flub -- VIDEO

Categories: Television

Here’s an outtake reel that’s worth seeing: Comely and prim Food Network Semi-Homemade host and author Sandra Lee trying to nail a rather simple intro while appearing on, well, some type of program, perhaps a commercial. (This doesn’t look like her usual Food Network set.) Lee’s task basically involves simply introducing herself and the results are hilarious. A copy of this somewhat NSFW video was apparently pulled from YouTube, but now it’s up again (for awhile). Watch while you can (“Air that one!”): READ FULL STORY »

George W. Bush recalls how New Yorkers greeted him on his first post-9/11 visit -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

In an exclusive first look from National Geographic Channel’s George W. Bush: The 9/11 Interview, the former president recalls his first visit to New York City after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. “I remember the West Side Highway was lined with our fellow citizens,” Bush says with a warm smile. “It was a real sign of solidarity. As [then New York mayor] Rudy [Giuliani] pointed out, it’s a unique moment. ‘Most of them didn’t vote for you,’ is what he told me.” Check out the full clip below:  READ FULL STORY »

'Fringe': New promo makes our hearts ache for Olivia -- VIDEO

Categories: Fall TV, Fringe, Television

If you don’t normally like to start your morning off with a dose of emotional pain to go with your caffeine, I suggest you skip this brand-new Fringe promo below that features new footage from season 4.

After a quick recap of how we got to this (totally mind-boggling) point, the promo shows Olivia talking to an unidentified person (probably Lincoln Lee?) about something Peter-sized missing in her life. “We all get really good at pretending that the loneliness isn’t there and then something comes along to remind us. I know what it’s like to have a hole in my life. It’s been there as long as I can remember,” she says.

Check it out below. READ FULL STORY »

Darren Criss may join 'Downers Grove' months after Bret Easton Ellis' anti-'Glee' tweets

Water under the bridge? Back in April, American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis released a barrage of harsh tweets mocking Fox’s Glee that invited the ire of both fans and members of the gay community alike. One of Ellis’ tweets: “I like the idea of ‘Glee’ but why is it that every time I watch an episode I feel like I’ve stepped into a puddle of HIV?”

But now it looks like Ellis may be working with one of the show’s most beloved stars. Back-tracking a bit from his previous statements, Ellis wrote a tweet praising Glee‘s talent (“Whatever my problems with Glee have nothing to do with the incredibly talented cast itself. Have tastelessly bashed the show not the actors.”) before stating his intention to work with Criss, who plays Blaine on the Fox series, on 2012′s Downers Grove movie, which Ellis is writing. “And no,” he added, “the producers of the script I wrote (Downers Grove) which Darren Criss might (or might not) star in didn’t make me write that tweet.”

Reps for Criss have not yet confirmed whether or not the actor will star in Downers Grove, an adaptation of Michael Hornburg’s 2001 novel about a high school coping with a curse: One member of the senior class dies in a bizarre fashion every year. The film already stars Hayden Panettiere, Nikki Reed, and Lucy Hale.

'Survivor: South Pacific': Ozzy and Coach to return for new season. They talk about it here! -- EXCLUSIVE

CBS withheld the names of the two returning players to join the 16 new contestants announced on Monday for Survivor: South Pacific, but EW.com can now exclusively reveal that the internet rumors are indeed true, and those two returning players are Benjamin “Coach” Wade and Ozzy Lusth. This will mark the third appearance for each contestant. Coach made the jury in both Tocantins and Heroes vs. Villains, while Ozzy was the runner-up for Cook Islands and was a member of the jury in Fans vs. Favorites.

Like last season’s returning pair of Boston Rob Mariano and Russell Hantz, Coach and Ozzy will each end up on different teams, this time after breaking an egg filled with the paint color of one of the tribes. Unlike Rob and Russell, however, there is no built-in rivalry between the pair. But host Jeff Probst says the two do have a natural connection. “What they share together is their social games suck,” says Probst. “Coach? He blew it in Heroes vs. Villains. He blew it seven different ways. And Ozzy got voted out with an idol in his hand! If that doesn’t speak to how bad you are in the social part of this game. So we looked at it and said here are two guys that do have a redemption story. Yes, you’ve played. Yes, you’re popular, but you don’t know what you’re doing in this game.” READ FULL STORY »

ABC’s family comedy The Middle is getting a piece of Glee.

Chord Overstreet is set to guest star on the series during its upcoming third season, trading McKinley High for Orson Elementary. He’ll play Ralph Wilkerson, a new and idealistic fourth grade teacher for young Brick (Atticus Shaffer), whose innovative and involved teaching methods run counter to the more relaxed parenting style used by the boy’s parents.

The actor will appear in the Sept. 28 episode of The Middle. The comedy returns Sept. 21 with a one-hour premiere at 8 p.m. More to come…

There were varied degrees of interruption across the TV business today following the east coast earthquake that jostled states from North Carolina to New York just before 2 p.m. ET.

“The earthquake today was crazy!” DC Cupcake stars Katherine Kallinis and Sophie LaMontagne told EW in a statement. “We were filming at the lab and all of a sudden the floor started shaking and things were rattling on the shelves. Everyone including the film crew evacuated just to be safe (Mommy wanted to hide under the mixing table!) and there were sirens going off in Georgetown.” The sisters added, “Thankfully everyone is okay and everything seems to be back to normal!”

Meanwhile, the Discovery Channel headquarters, located in Silver Spring, Md., over 100 miles from the earthquake’s epicenter in Virginia, were evacuated following the 5.9-magnitude quake. Employees were sent home for the remainder of the day, a Discovery spokesperson confirmed to EW.

No major damage or injuries are being reported as a result of the rare quake. But there is tweeting. Oh, lots and lots of tweeting.
