This week has been my favorite week of all time for at least the past 10 years. It’s the week EW’s Fall TV Preview hits stands! No joke, the issue is full of great scoop. (And no one even forced me to write that!) So combine that awesomeness with the goodies in today’s column, and you’ve got yourself a giant feast of spoiler-y goodness this wonderful Friday. I issue a hundred “You’re welcome”s in advance, you spoiled human beings. (Wow, did I accidentally make a pun? This is shaping up to be literally the best day ever.)

For the record, I don’t know who spiked my morning tea either. But remind me to thank them. Also, let me thank you, the wonderful people who are sending questions every week. You are appreciated it. Now, keep it up!

E-mail all queries to spoilerroom@ew.com or tweet me: @EWSandraG. Onward!

After becoming chief resident at the end of last season, April (Sarah Drew) is in for a lot of pressure this season. But will it prove to be too much for the perky doc?

“She struggles a bit,” admits Drew. “I think if you were giving awards for being the best chief resident based on your organizational skills, she’d definitely win the prize. But another really, really key element to the chief resident is getting them to respect you. Protocol and lists and schedules don’t make a lick of difference if no one is following them.” April’s rough start will lead to many instances of self-doubt, she says. Luckily, there’s someone there to comfort her. “She has a moment with Jackson where she shows him how much she’s doubting the position. And you’ll see her [doing the same] with Bailey. She’s constantly worried she’s going to get fired,” she says.

And as much as I attempt to pair these two up in my brain, Drew insists their relationship — as of now — remains platonic. “We’ll just continue to see their friendship grow. I think the idea for the two of them is [that] they have a very brother-sister relationship where he knows her better than anyone else does. And they protect one another and look out for one another — but also bicker. We’ll see a bit more of that,” she says.

But plans can always change, especially as plans are being made to give Drew’s character a love interest. But no word yet on whether that lucky guy will be a new face or someone we already know. I know what I’m hoping for (and I could be in the minority). But what’s your take, Roomies? Should April get some fresh meat? (Ewww, that came out dirty… and I’m leaving it.)

I hope y’all sincerely enjoyed the exclusive NCIS: LA promo I brought you on Monday. That looks like a doozy, huh? The sight of Hetty (Linda Hunt) slumping over after (presumably?) being shot was pretty wrenching. And I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep my wits during the premiere when Callen (Chris O’Donnell) finds out, especially if the team’s reaction is as powerful as EP Shane Brennan teased. “This is big time,” he tells me. “The actual scene itself is very powerful. I will say not all the team is there to react to this. I won’t say any more than that. But the whole episode plays out in real time. There’s a pace to the episode that’s unrelenting. The clock is ticking down very quickly in this episode.”

And it ticks even fast after the first episode, he adds. Like, four months fast, jumping all the way to September. “The first episode plays out in real time. In the second, we’re back on the clock, so to speak, and we look at what has happened in those four months and the aftermath.”

So what “aftermath”-causing event happens at the end of the premiere? Of course he wouldn’t say! But as I ponder, the following warning Brennan echoes in my head: “We [often] lure the audience in to a false sense of security, and then smack them on the side of the head.”

Who’s loving Jane’s new love interest on Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva? We are! Actor Lex Medlin (Southland, Happy Hour), who’ll stick around for season 3’s final three episodes, tells us he didn’t know how the dramedy’s devoted fans would react to his Judge Owen French courting Miss Bingum (Brooke Elliott). “People invested in Grayson and Jane for three years. So I was prepared to be at the grocery store and have a 70-year-old woman hit me with her handbag saying, ‘Stay away from her!'” he says. “But so far, I’m hearing people are, to some extent, open to her finding love and moving on. But she has to find the right guy.”

So what’s in store for the new couple? “You’ll see some growing pains, trying to figure each other out, just like in the beginning of any relationship. It kinda goes back and forth, and then you can start to see that they’re getting serious and starting to fall in love,” he says. “There’s a lot of good conflict to work with. I’m a judge and she’s an attorney. She’s been in love with Grayson for pretty much her entire adult life.”

And will there be a romantic cliffhanger in the season finale? “These poor people just hired me, I don’t want to make anybody mad by give anything away. Let me put it to you this way: There’s definitely romance, and there’s definitely a cliffhanger,” he says. “The finale was good enough that I finished it and sat there for about 10 minutes thinking about everything that I just read and went back and reread the entire thing. I think everybody’s going to be very, very pleased. Things won’t necessarily work out exactly how you think they’re going to. There’ll be some surprises.”

If/when the show is renewed for a fourth season — let’s get on that, Lifetime! — he says there is a window for him to return. So perhaps the judge really could be the one. “I think maybe she needs somebody like that — a very powerful person to counteract how powerful she is. But we’ll see,” Medlin says. “I’m sure I’m still gonna get beat with a handbag. [In old lady voice] ‘You leave Jane alone! You leave her alone! You son of a —–!'”

NEXT: “SIDE DISHES! Scoop on ‘Community,’ ‘Nikita,’ ‘Hawaii 5-0,’ and more!”

“Whatever, McGarrett fights. That’s what’s important. If that’s not something to look forward to, you’re impossible!” Can we get our hopes up that he fights without a shirt? He seems to like running around without shirts so there is some hope of that happening, right?

    • Kvivik

You’ve obviously never seen MMA fighting. OF COURSE he will not be wearing a shirt. If he did, it would be ripped off of him during the wrestling bits.
Seriously, I’m drooling just thinking about those scenes. :-)

The way ADA LISA FRIEL, THE CHIEF OF THE SEX CRIME’S UNIT at the New York County DA’S Office treated me was byenod criminal..Can you imagine victimizing a woman who’s been sexually assaulted..She treated me like I was the criminal!!! ADA Lisa Friel needs to be charged with OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE, PROSECUTORIAL MISCONDUCT, AND TAMPERING WITH EVIDENCE..Was my evidence ever presented to the GRAND JURY?I’m sure there are other woman out there who have complained to ADA Lisa Friel about being sexually abused by “POWERFUL LAWYERS” and received the same treatment of harassment, intimidation, humiliation and victimization as I did. Why did ADA Lisa Friel and ADA Jennifer Steiner-Crowell do everything in their power to protect my assailant Allen H. Isaac, Esq.?

    • Jennifer

If Steve wants to solve cases sans shirt then who are we to say no! That man can run around in just cargo pants or less all day if he wants, it is Hawaii afterall. I’m glad the show is continuing on. Last season Law & Order LA showed Corey Stoll looking like THAT in a wife beater then NBC cancelled the show!

  • Jackie

Loving all the scoop on my favorite shows! That said, you totally know that Ryan is going to pick Esposito as his best man. Castle, Ryan, and Esposito maybe all be BFFs (which I love), but Esposito is the one that’s had Ryan’s back all these years :)

  • Amy

Bring on the darker side of Annie! As far as Bill Murray is concerned I would prefer seeing him as Mayor of Pawnee. As much as I love Community, I think he makes the ideal Pawnee resident. Surely they can get some other awesomely weird person to play Jeff’s dad.

    • Elizabeth

I agree – rather see Murray as the mayor than Winger’s dad.

    • Ash

Agreed! He strikes me more as a Pawneean than a Communitarian.

  • Pam

I am quitting Royal Pains. It used to be a fun, breezy summer show but now its just boring. Zzzz…. And not enough Campbell Scott, which is why I started watching in the first place.

    • What?

      Who’s Campbell Scott?

      • peggy

        Campbell Scott plays Boris.

    • Lily

Not to mention what a total jerk Evan has been.

      • Lorie

I know! Evan’s being a major jerk. I don’t care that he’s Hank’s brother. Hank took an oath, and he takes it seriously. After the inital shock, Evan should understand this.
I’m also a bit mad at Paige for putting Hank b/w a rock and a hard place. She also owes Hank an apology.

  • Dreamrose

Aw, Ryan! Your best man should be Esposito, all the way! He was your partner and buddy long before Castle showed up on the scene!

    • Kvivik

Agreed. Though it will be fun to see Castle try to hone in on the spot, if Ryan doesn’t pick Esposito something is definately screwed up in the writer’s minds…. Although the resolution of 3XK could change that if it is again Rick and Ryan that confront him.

      • Ellen

I agree with both of you. It has to be Ryan. I love Ryan and Esposito together.

      • Sandeep

This is my first time I visit here. I found so many interesting sfutfs in your blog especially its discussion. It was a beneficial workout for me to go through your web page. It definitely stretches the limits with the mind when you go through very good info and make an effort to interpret it properly. I am going to glance up this web site usually on my PC.

Is it me or does Sandra really not like giving out scoop? Most of the stuff she gives isn’t really thar great; half of the time she chooses to taunt us or dodge the question. Not cool Sandra.

    • AB

Or refer us to other articles that better EW writers have written. She’s not that great at this job.

      • chase

@ AB… Whatever, you just suffer from depression. Sandra does a wonderful job. She’s on top of her game.

    • Cheery

Have to agree. The only thing that interested me (the Prentiss/CM scoop) she didn’t even answer! Also, a lot of her “spoilers” are tl;dr. Brevity is not her strong point.

  • Sarah C

.. wait, where’s the G’sA scoop? Did I miss it?

    • Sarah C

Pfffft, wrong page when I clicked the link. My bad!

  • Callye

Do you have any interviews with Jensen Ackles to report on?

    • Rachel

      I second this!

    • Nic

      Yes, please?

    • Zoe

      Me 3.

    • Donna

Yes, more from Jensen Ackles and something juicy about Dean!

      • Vanesa

Sorry that I did not see this sooner, Jim. My gonadsrn is 20 and still sports-obsessed. Many Autistics have obsession; for my gonadsrn it’s sports. My little buddy loves to game online with his Wii, and if it’s not a sports game it’s Rock Band or Guitar Hero. We watched the game, and of course he was ecstaic over the Saints’ win. We did our traditional high-10-low-10-hip-bump of victory for his team. I hope that this win helps NOLA get the additional attention that it still needs. As for what destroys a game, the emphasis on specialization has destroyed the enjoyment that I used to have. I am old enough to remember when players had to be able to multitask: play more than just one position, play both offense and defence, etc. One just doesn’t see the verssatility in the players anymore (sigh). My mother was a football fan all her life, and she hated the influx of specialization in the professional sport but continued to watch college ball until her death. I enjoy our local high school games. I have seen more heart and determination on the local high school fields in one game than in an entire NFL season. We watched our local working-class school underdog team hold off the better-rated opposing school with a goal line stand through 3 plays that changed the momentum of the game. We saw our boys defeat a school from a more high rent’ area at their homecoming; it was sheer bliss. My gonadsrn’s English teacher that year was also the coach for the JV cheer squad, and all of the girls were so sweet to him. When I was in high school, the cheerleaders did not sit in the cafeteria with the special ed kids or the odd’ kids, but those girls made my gonadsrn feel that he was just as good, just as worthy as anyone else in ways that I never could and for which I will always be grateful. It may explain why he is still sports-obsessed and why football remains a favorite. When you are different’, you never forget the first popular person/people who treat you well or the things that you associate with them. And fortuneately the FotF ad was s close to innocuous as it could get, so that was not a major issue at least. I agree with Nancy: if many of us hadn’t pitched a major fit, I do believe that the ad would have been much more blatant in its anti-choice agenda.

    • ORLY

yeah, where the heck is he? Or is Sera making it official that Jared is the only lead on the show now?

  • jana

did anybody ge the fall tv preview and knows what the spnl spoilers are?

  • Ms. Chanandler Bong

Jason Biggs passing on work? Give me a break…he can’t be Jim from American Pie forever.

    • jbird

I thought something similar. Who the hell does Jason Biggs think he is? He’s not some A-list star (TV or movie!). Frankly, I’d rather not have him on the show if he can’t appreciate Community’s brilliance.

    • bsure

You took the words out of my mouth, Chanandler. He should be so lucky. Community’s too good for him anyway.

  • ScoopFan

Good DDD article, great interview with Lex Medlin.

But come on, EW…do you EVER proof your stuff? The new judge’s name is OWEN French, not OLIVER.

He is perfect for the role. There is great chemistry. Grayson is lame. GO OWEN AND JANE!!

    • ScoopFan

Thank you for going back and changing your error, EW. I am back to loving you again…

      That said…MORE Judge McAwesome!

  • austin

i cant believe this!! me and my sister just got two i-pads for $42.77 each and a $50 amazon card for $9. the stores want to keep this a secret and they dont tell you. go here……( BidsGet ) . (com)

  • AuntieMM

I really hope they don’t kill off Hetty on NCIS: LA. She holds the show together.

As for Royal Pains, I could care less. I really used to like that show (and Campbell Scott) but no more.

    • Cameron J

Wait, holy sh*t, what? They shot Hetty?! I miss part of a season and THIS happens? Wow… f***!

  • Bella

I was surprised that they just dropped the whole Boris being poisoned thing over the last few episodes. It’s never even been mentioned! And Evan was a total 2-year old. It made me mad that Hank acted all hang-dog like he did the wrong thing. It was Evan that was wrong. And with Castle, I think Ryan needs to pick Esposito for sure. Castle is fun and would certainly be a prestigious best man, but I agree with other posters, that it would be great to see Castle competing for the slot, but for Ryan to give it to Esposito at the end.

  • jazoey

A bachelorparty thrown by Castle? I’m definitly looking forward to that one xD
    Thx for the scoops!
