'Boss' trailer: Kelsey Grammer rules the Chicago way

In Starz’ upcoming drama, Boss, Kelsey Grammer plays the embattled mayor of Chicago. The new trailer is full of political bromides that reinforce the grit beneath his Tom Kane’s polished facade. “Spectators stand on the sidelines lacking the balls to do this job!” “If in the course of doing what I believe is best for this city there is collateral damage, so be it!” “One necessary evil leads to another until one day you can’t differentiate between what’s necessary and what’s merely expedient.” It’s almost like The West Wing, if Aaron Sorkin had been replaced by David Mamet. Take a look.

Grammer’s mayor looks colorful and complex, but I’m even more intrigued by Connie Nielsen’s (not-so-good?) wife, who delivers lines that would make Gladiator‘s Commodus himself smile. The show looks tantalizing enough. Will it get your vote when it premieres on Oct. 21?

Starz should have bought season 2 of KINGS. They’re creating some good TV lately

I loved Kelsey Grammar as Frasier, but find him impossible to watch in any other role.

can you get someone less Chicago than Kelsey Grammar. I’m not saying he’s not a god awful actor. But really – could have done something more authentic with your casting choice.

  • James

Hopefully they expose Chicago as the pathetic political cesspool that it is. I would imagine that was Grammer’s hope too when taking the role.

Just what we need another JR Ewing type. I just wish that Kelsey’s new “Boss” on Fox network not everyone has STARZ on their cable I like Kelsey he is a good actor.. Oh well I will wait until DVD come out or on TNT.

The ironic thing is that as bad as Grammer’s character is, he’d be a wimp next to Daley.

As a Chicagoan, I’ll give it a look see but if it isn’t accurate I’ll be done after episode 1.

    I can’t wait.

i’m excited about kelsey playing this role! He’s a well seasoned actor and mature enough to carry this character. I am looking forward to something new…tired of all the cop shows, csi’s…a show about a politician…great! Remember…a rich man and his money are soon elected…lol!
