'Dexter' promo teases new characters, features new footage, and generally creeps us out -- VIDEO

There are a ton of new faces on the upcoming season of Dexter – which premieres Sunday, Oct. 2 — and if you’ve have trouble keeping track, this new extended behind the scenes promo lays them out quite nicely if you ask me.

Among the newbies? Brother Sam, played by Mos (now sans “Def”) is a victim-turned-unexpected ally of Dexter’s. Professor Gellar (Edward James Olmos) is the creepy mentor of Travis (Colin Hanks), who seemingly has succeeded in passing on Gellar’s warped ways. Jamie Batista (Aimee Garcia) is the new nanny and Angel’s (too-hot-to-be-related-in-real-life) sister. And Mike Anderson (Billy Brown), is a new detective and Chicago native who is described as being intolerant of shenanigans and apparently — based on how he treats Deb in the preview — also vaginas.

Take a look below.

Do I see sheets of plastic in your future?

      • Dexter

Don’t worry, innocent people of the world, I’m only after serial killers, and spammers.

  • Cathy

Can we get rid of the spam, please?

Looks like they’re going back to how Dexter used to be, which I enjoyed much more than the recent episodes. Should get interesting.

I also want to say that Colin Hanks looks way too much like his dad. Creepy!

  • The Kindly Man

Sounds like the Mike Anderson character is going to be a Doakes clone, but I don’t see him as being nearly as funny. Deb as the Lt.? Awesome. I know that Eddie Olmos is going to be awesome. He always is. Looking forward to the new season.

    • StewyFan

Yeah, Mike Anderson looks like an obvious belated replacement for Doakes. Interesting to see how that will play out.

  • Cara

So I guess Deb gets a promotion. She’s a lt.

  • StewyFan

I think I’m really gonna like Mos Def. And Colin Hanks is already freaking me out.

  • JoeMess

Looks like the producers are doing a mirror life for Dexter to view. Olmos/Hanks could be like Dex and his father, if the “rules” were different.

  • kelli

I enjoy this show and I’m looking forward to seeing Mos Def. I love him in “The Woodsman”.

  • Lizzie

    Mos Def???????? Frakking awesome!!

  • onthemightofprinces

Could be interesting, but after season 5 I’m going in with my expectations lowered. It’s safer that way.

  • DarkPassenger

Talented guest actors: this season’s already worlds better than the last one.

  • Katie

Did anyone catch what Jamie said as she walked into the room? Why would she be coming to give Deb a goodnight kiss?!?!?! Maybe she was there for Harrison?
