Syfy has renewed its freshman drama Alphas for a second season.
The network is bringing back the superhero drama as expected, sources say. So far this summer Syfy has also renewed Warehouse 13 and canceled Eureka (apart from next year’s final season). Alphas follows a group of ordinary people whose unique neurological condition equips them with extraordinary physical abilities.

Cool. This show has definitely shown some improvement since the first episode.
Cool. What about Have?
Haven, I mean. :-/
Don’t worry about Haven, inside sources says Syfy execs lean heavily for a renewal.
I second that. This show has gotten better week to week as the characters are more fully developed.
That being said I hope that quality can be maintained into season 2.
I really want to like this show but just can’t…
Me, too. I watched a half-dozen episodes and it was just so… underhelming, and more than a little boring. OTOH, Haven has gotten better and better (and it was really good to start with). I hope Haven gets renewed pronto.
WTF is “underhelming”? Only partially steering a boat?
HA! Nice Piper.
If you idiots don’t like the show, why keep watching….furthermore, why read a story about it, then comment on it? Trolls…
Not nice at all, Piper, pretty sad to get such satisfaction out of pointing out a typo. Trolls, Troy ? Uh, no. Expressing our honest opinions, whether positive or negative, is why we all come here. Trying to like the show and not succeeding is something I can totally relate to.
I’ll leave it to those with 6th grade mentalities to nitpick typos – those that can think do, and those that can try to impress people with their mastery of elementary school. That’s further supported by the inability to suss out why comments are enabled for a notice of renewal.
The show is kind of dull. The cast isn’t very charasmatic and light on the action. :-\
After the first episode I really wasn’t sure about the show, but it has steadily improved every week.
Yeah i defintely like the show.. the stakes seem real and no writing themselves into the corner like what was done with an awesome character i like to call peter petrelli. The ep with the person who made everyone beat the hell out of eachother hooked me in.
I’m glad to hear you say that. I thought I was alone in feeling that this show, to me, is achieving what Heroes wanted to. However, seasons 1 & 3 were solid.
I do believe Alphas is true gem. I love the steady progression and genuine feeling of risk. Each episode I get worried about these people and where the story is going. When they all go into that abadoned place and argue, eventually leading to a fight. I was completely plastered to the screen; in addition, the episode with Gryphon. The invisible mercenary girl.
Glad to hear it. It’s far from being the end-all, be-all of superhero-themed shows, but it is easily much better than “No Ordinary Family” and the final seasons of “Heroes.” If the writing would improve to match the quality of the acting, this would be a real winner. But as others have said, it has slowly improved week to week, so if Syfy treats it right they could have a future hit on their hands.
Love the show. I’m particularly taken with Ryan Cartwright as Gary. I hope Warren Christie lets his hair grow out a little. Not loving that sheared sheep look.
I agree; Ryan Carwright as Gary is the best part of the show.
We may see a return of Summer Glau’s constructioner whizz, right ?!
Show needs a spin-off…The Betas…Then we could have the Alpha-Betas. Sounds like some kind of frat.
jeez..I was so hoping it would be cancelled. Its one step up from the saturday night movies. Sad coming from the station that had Firefly and BSG
Great news!
I watch it if I come across it but don’t even know what night it’s on. It’s ok.
I like it enough to keep watching but it is not nearly as entertaining as Eureka.
Eureka blows.
