That’s right, a tattoo competition. Oxygen has ordered a reality series where a bunch of tattoo artists face off in challenges.
In Best Ink, tattoo experts will compete for a $100,000 prize while inking volunteers (who wants to be the poor wretch that judges say ended up with the worst tattoo?). Enthuses the release: “Each artist produces bona fide masterpieces on skin—a permanence rarely seen in the reality competition world.”
Former American Idol contestant Kimberly Caldwell will host the show, with tattoo artist Joe Capobianco and model and tattoo shop owner Sabina Kelley serving as judges. Best Ink is planned for this winter. And if it’s a hit, how about a laser-tattoo removal competition?

She just released a pop album this spring. She’s still out there performing. I think she’s doing this show as a side project before her concert tour starts next year or so.

Are tattoos (or storage units or nail salons or pawn shops) really all that interesting that they need multiple shows about them?
Don’t forget all the shows about cakes & cupcakes. America really knows how to run something into the ground.
When is television going to have reality show about something people care about. A show about farting, with celebrity judges and contestants. The winner to get his own show.
They tend to do the same kinds of talent shows, with nothing really new. They’re all copying American Idol way too much right down to the judges and audition and performance/elimination format!

I think I read that Booger is actually going to be hosting a reality show about geeks/nerds already. It’s in casting now.
Oxygen just needs to keep focusing on Snapped and reruns of Top Model.
A tattoo show on Oxygen? What a horrendous idea. Hey television producers, since you’ve obviously completely run out of material, I’ll give you a suggestion. How about a funny, smart scripted show that can rise above potty humor? Go!

I am intrigued! I wonder if it’s only temporary tatoos? If that is the case, that’s a bummer. Takes some of the train-wreckiness out of it.

…so their going to permantently ink some poor fols who want 15 minutes (if that much) of fame and may be chosen as a loser and have to carry the tat for life. And then explain they did it as part of a contest on which they had nothing to gain except a tattoo they didn’t chose and didn’t know how it would come out. I would be interested (EXECS LISTEN UP) if it were an Ami James vs Kat Von D caliber match-up. Hell, I’d almost PPV that one.
