Last week, it was reported that Sam Poueu, a contestant from the ninth season of The Biggest Loser, was in critical condition at a San Francisco hospital after sustaining a pelvic injury, punctured lung, broken leg, and torn ligaments after a fall from a building on Sept. 3. (On Sept. 6 Biggest Loser host Ali Sweeney tweeted, “Right on!! RT @vicgrimes4life: @Ali_Sweeney Can I get a RT? For Sam Poueu (bl9) to continue to fight and for a complete recovery.”)
Since then, Poueu’s family, as well as his fiance and fellow Biggest Loser alum Stephanie Anderson, have explained to People what exactly happened to the reality star. In a statement, Poueu’s family explained that the 25-year-old, who lost 134 pounds during his time on the reality competition, got stuck on a roof at a friend’s party after a door locked behind him. He then, “attempted to climb down the fire escape ladder to drop down into the fourth floor balcony and slipped. The San Francisco Fire Department responded within minutes thanks to a neighbor’s immediate call.”
While Poueu has, in addition to undergoing three surgeries already, has “suffered many serious internal injuries and a trauma to the right side of his head,” according to his family, “Sam has made positive and encouraging strides since his accident. Since being admitted to the hospital, Sam has stayed strong through three surgeries. To date, many of his internal injuries are on the healing mend.”
Anderson has since set up a recovery Trust Fund in Poueu’s name accepting donations, while she and his family have alerted fans, “Please send well wishes, cards, etc. to: Poueu Family, PO Box 214, Cotati, CA 94931.” The family concluded by telling People, “We want to thank everyone for all of your prayers, thoughts, well wishes and support during this difficult time.”

Wasn’t that the plot of “The Hangover”?
Sorry he was injured! But, what a stupid accident! He’s been watching too many sit-coms.
cute but DUMB.
Parkour fail.
Who cares? Never heard of the moron, and sure as heck will not pay his medical bills for him. Dipwad shouldn’t be climbing down the side of a building. Sounds like he lost his brain when he lost weight. Loser
I’ve never heard of this contestant either but that doesn’t mean it isn’t news for other people who have watched the show and cheered this guy on. Don’t click on a link if you don’t care and certainly don’t be heartless because he isn’t on a show that you watch.
So could it be depression on becoming the ploy of NBC to showcase less than perfect (fat) people becoming better human beings b/c their thin. Could it be that he was trying to figure out how to get out of the relationship that was part of the drama we call reality TV. I guess we will only find out when he is able to verify. But wouldn’t a cell phone have worked much better than climbing down a building. Maybe it’s the steroids that caused it all.
I hope your family and friends(if you have any?) never need your support for anything, what a stupid self centered bastard you are.
he could have bounced had he not lost all that weight and been fine
Wow, some people have to much negativity and seriously lack any empathy for fellow humans. I guess writing stupid moronic statements on blogs fills their meaningless lives with happiness. Some of you should be ashamed of yourself. Anyone that wishes harm to someone else seriously needs to look in the mirror to see who they truly have a problem with. It usually a reflection of the negativity within their own life. Try being human and empathic towards others instead of making fun of someone elses situation. Maybe you’ll actually mature a little and grow as a human being.
The Internet has turned into a forum for people to illustrate exactly how idiotic they are. Bring on Captain Trips, I’m ready to see some of these people go.
