Finale ratings: 'Entourage' up, 'True Blood' down

HBO’s finale-stuffed Sunday ratings are here: The last-ever episode of Entourage went out on a high note, concluding with its most-watched episode of the season, with 3.1 million viewers (2.6 million in its first airing, plus the show’s repeat).

The fourth-season closer of True Blood delivered 6.2 million viewers total for the night (5.1 million for its first airing, plus the repeat) — down slightly this year after rising last summer. Overall, though, Blood did well this season, hitting a series high with one episode and maintaining its average. Curb Your Enthusiasm benefited by being paired with True Blood this summer (an odd coupling, but the ratings didn’t mind) — and ended with a total of 2.4 million for the night. That’s Curb‘s most-watched finale since 2004.

thats good for curb that was a very good episode

This was the funniest finale for Curb in a long time. Love that Michael J. Fox went there and Larry went out in his usual, irascible style. I can imagine the French wanting to kick him out soon too!

Curb is really good this season. That kid was sublime. Haven’t liked True Blood for a while and don’t watch anymore. The ending for Entourage was way too fairy tale.

Hollywood is where fairy tales come true. I was happy with Entourage’s finale. They were are owed and everyone got paid. The all had theie share of downs in the past 3 or 4 seasons. Season 1 was my favorite but I say excellent finish to Entourage

  • KC

Not surprised about True Blood’s ratings.

    • AM

It said the ratings were up overall.

  • Rob

    Curb was hilarious!!

    • Mike

The kid was cracking me up.

I know, right? That kid stole the show. I wonder if he was acting, or if he’s really that flamboyant. Either way, he was totally adorable.

Time to turn off HBO till next year for Season 5 of TrueBlood!!!

    • Mike

Not for me. Boardwalk Empire in the Fall, Game of Thrones in the spring. Plenty of high quality TV coming to HBO.

      • Mac

        It’s not TV. It’s HBO.

        Winter is Coming

    • kate middleton

Agreed. True Blood has just gotten ridiculous. Boardwalk and especially Game of Thrones MAKE HBO for me.

  • MJ

True Blood has gotten pretty bad…I still watch out of habit, but I found myself fastforwarding through the Sookie storylines this year. Memo to the writers…lose the fairy storyline, and make Eric a “bada$$” again.

    • kate middleton

      Totally agree.

    • Jet

umm have you missed the last half of the season with eric ripping out hearts and beheading gay stormtroopers?

  • Trubble

Curb was great this season – best so far.
Entourage went out on a high note – very satisfying exit, and a memorable series. Will watch the movie.
Stopped watching Blood Michelle Forbes’ season – show no longer worthy of watching.

    • SAM

Forbes’ season is definitely the weakest but you should check out season 3 because it was probably better than or equal to the first season.

      • Jesse

Agreed. Season 1 and Season 3 were excellent, Season 4 was middle of the road, and Season 2 was almost unwatchable at times. Is Michelle Forbes currently the mother on the Killing? I hate to say this, but I can’t stand her. When she’s on, I want to turn off the tv.

  • Kevin7

I thought Entourage was terrible. Everything was forced and felt stale. I don’t understand why the final season was only 8 episodes when HBO usually does 10. The 2 extra episodes would have helped pace the ending out.

  • Matt

    Loved Curb

  • Shannon

Should I miss having HBO or not, can’t decide?

  • Cain

    Best Curb line: Something like…

“You hand Michael J. Fox a can of milk. He’ll hand you back a milkshake.”

  • dman

Curb was amazing this year. 3 brilliant eps… palestinian chicken and larry’s middle east border crossing sexcapade, mister softee and the orgasm producing car… and the finale… and the other 7 eps were really good… but those three were the standout

  • Its Um

I agree about Entourage feeling force into happy ending, though everybody else season finale was supurb.

  • Emma

The first half of the season was off to such a good start, but I doubt I’ll be watching True Blood next summer. The nauseating love triangle this season did me in.

  • vinny

Curb was awesome; Entourage disappointing; and True Blood’s finale was boring and preceded by its most boring and most uninspired season.

  • Kevin Fields

Michael J. Fox is about to be Michael J. F!@#ed up!! Leon is killing it.
