The Lonely Island to perform at the Emmys -- EXCLUSIVE

Get that seven-second delay ready: EW has learned exclusively that the guys from The Lonely Island will perform at the Primetime Emmy Award telecast on Sunday. The trio — Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer — will do a medley of their gut-busting Saturday Night Live tracks featuring, we’re told by a source close to the guys, “some friends.” (Please, please let one of them be Michael Bolton!)

Members of The Lonely Island were nominated for three Original Song Emmys this year — for “Jack Sparrow,” “I Just Had Sex,” and “3-Way (The Golden Rule)” — but lost to Justin Timberlake’s musical SNL monologue (the award was handed out at last week’s Creative Arts Emmys). But it looks like Samberg and Co. might just have the last laugh.

The Emmy telecast airs Sunday, Sept. 18 at 8pm Eastern/5pm Pacific on Fox.

UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Maya Rudolph and Ed Helms will be performing with Sandberg. I can now add John Stamos to that list as well.

I bet since Justin won the Emmy for guest starring on SNL this year . He going to come and do a song with them.

I bet you $500, Michael Bolton is going to join The Lonely Island in a Jack Sparrow costume.

It looks like the Emmys will be some sort of a variety show ths year from all these news I’m hearing. This doesn’t even mention the Emmington’s a capella group (with Zac Levi, Joel McHale, and others) that are already confirmed to present in song.

  • Lonely Island SUCKS!

What a waste of time featuring these talentless creeps.

    • Eli

  • Susan

    Like a BOSS.

  • Manny

I wish Gaga would come and sing 3-way with them!

  • Emily

I know this would never happen but I want Natalie Portman to come and do the Natalie rap. But this won’t happen because a) She not even in Los Angeles and b) there too many swear words in that rap

  • Jessica

They should sing Lazy Sunday. It is the song that really put them on the map

    • Jz inmapantz

THey REALLY needed to perform “J in my pants” as it would’ve brought the house down…. but probably not in a good way since this is Fox… lol

  • Sara

    Man, that was lame.
