Time to meet the extended family on NBC’s Up All Night!
EW has learned exclusively that we’re about to meet the father of Reagan (Christina Applegate), a psychologist who’s expected to be distant, quiet, and always analyzing — just what Chris (Will Arnett) needs!
And the man of the hour will be…

Richard Schiff!
The actor best known for his Emmy-winning run on The West Wing will play a contemplative dad who may come in and out of Reagan and Chris’ hectic life.
Schiff’s other recent TV credits include stints on Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, White Collar, and The Cape.

This show is horrible. Worse than “Whitney.” I don’t know why Hollywood continues to give jobs to Christina Applegate.
You’re crazy if you think this show is worse than Whitney. Whitney is one of the most abysmal things I’ve ever seen.
Me too. The cast is great & I love Will Arnett, but so far I haven’t seen anything that will keep me coming back every week.
And I don’t know why this is bugging me like it is, but the past 2 episodes they get a babysitter at like midnight. What sitter could you call at midnight?
Obviously, Nick Cannon doesn’t have too much going on these days…
The babysitter at midnight thing pissed me off too!! And I don’t even have kids. I love everyone on this show but I just can’t like the show. It is just not funny. I’m sad about it.
TOBY ZIEGLER!!!
YAY!
Tobias can do no wrong. I will watch this show JUST for him.
I guess richard schiff was a promiscus teen, as he is only 16 years older than she is.
Yeah. You’re totally right. Imagine an actor using his imagination to pretend he’s a bit older than his actual age. Nitwit.
Agree. I wanted to like this show – I really like Christina and Will, and I can stand Maya. BUT, this show is really terrible. The characters are NOT likeable – they are so concerned with being cool and hip, it’s infuriating. The episode last week with the neighbors? Terrible.
I’ll give it one more episode and then it’s getting deleted from the DVR.
Excited about Richard Schiff–I think the show is really sweet and while there definitely seems to be two shows pasted together both make me laugh
I love Richard Shiff! I haven`t seen him since “The West Wing”. Actually, I watched, “Deep Impact” on TNT a month ago and saw him as Elijah Wood`s dad. I`m looking forward to seeing him in a comedy. I`ve been waiting for Christina Applegate to guest on “Modern Family” to reunite her with Ed O`Neill, but since they`re on competing networks on the same night I may have to shelve that dream.
I haven’t been crazy about this show so far – the second episode was just painful, but I for Toby Ziegler, I’ll give it another chance.
This show is a perfect example of a show creator thinking it’s enough to simply write about the things that go on in her real life, while forgetting the need to heighten and exaggerate to make the story accessible and amusing to viewers who don’t share her personal life experiences.
Just because Seinfeld worked doesn’t mean the fact that you have a baby and a career at the same time is enough to make me laugh. This show needs to hire a funny comedy writer.
I didn’t care for the pilot, but the 2nd episodes had some great moments. I do (and want to) believe once this show gets it’s grove it will get funnier and funnier.
that should read “groove”
People need to give it a chance. The Office, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, Community…none of them were great shows when they first premiered, but they all improved and became some of the best comedies on TV. Up All Night has potential just like all of those shows did. Just give it a chance to tap into it.
Who writes this crap? He was on Burn Notice, NOT White Collar
GEEZ…
Great episode! Excited about Innocent on showtime. Adam Carolla is going to have him on his podcast Mon!
