Two things could have taken Chaz Bono out of the Dancing with the Stars competition — his low scores and his aching knees and ankle. But not only did he escape elimination on Tuesday, he’s not going to let the pain get in his way going into week 3.
“We have a very simple style of dance this week,” Bono told reporters after the show. “We have the rumba, so it’s slow. It’s pretty easy, and we are going to try and work around it as much as we can.”But the man is still in sore. “I’ll be okay,” he says, explaining that it is his ankle that hurts the most. “It’s taken a pounding,” he explains. But hey, he’s lost 12 pounds!
Still, partner Lacey Schwimmer is on the case. “I’m having my physical therapist drive in from Temecula on Thursday to check him out, give him some treatment.” And mom Cher is sending help, as well. “She was stressed last night to say the least,” added Bono. “She called me up and she’s sending her doctors to help, and she’s just trying to be as supportive as possible.”
On facing his second elimination, Bono admitted he was really nervous. “I didn’t know but I thought it was a definite possibility.” Added Schwimmer, “We had the lowest scores of the night and you never know because of the controversy of him being on the show who is actually voting for him and how much they’re voting, it’s huge.”

Week 2 eliminated contestant: Judges ‘dropped the ball’

Let me get this straight-Chaz Bono is suffering knee pain. Maybe it would go away if he/she/it/whatever dropped four or five hundred pounds.
I thought the same thing. Stop blaming it on the strenuous practice dancing. Its because you are OBESE. You can’t hide fat
Barack Palin,
Let me get this straight. People who are overweight are not always that way because they eat like pigs. His testosterone and medications have alot to do with his being overweight. People like you need to live in outerspace to save the air for the rest of us. Take your parents with you because they didn’t have the parenting skills to raise you the right way.
Chaz was really fat before hormone therapy. stop being so sensitive….people who put themselves in the public eye risk scrutiny….grow up….
WHATT ? she performed CIRCUS in stars aamcedy you can’t deni it i watched it on MY tv in MY room IN MY country (france) on MY favourite TV show well if you don’t believe me search briney spears circus star aamcedy on u2b -_-’ what an ass !
I don’t care if Chaz is man, woman or whatever! He can’t dance to save his life and his feet are way too small for his enormous weight. He really should’ve been sent home! I don’t understand why all the lousy dancers get to stay week after week. Hmmm…Bristol Palin, Kirstie Alley & now Chaz! Sheesh..
Kirstie was consistently overscored but she was never Bristol Palin, Kate Gosselin or Chaz Bono bad. I guess even the poster that is ‘LOL’ gets it right every now and then, America does indeed love crap.
exactly, exactly … this is not a dancing contest it is a popularity contest; Chaz will probably win, even though all he does is stand and point, but people do not vote with their heads, just look at him, can’t dance at all
Putting you body thru so much, so suddenly when you are so overweight is not healthy. He really seems to be enjoying himself, though. Besides, what’s wrong with rooting for the underdoog?
It must have to do with perceived “stardom” ??? He’s so fat, how did he think he was going to feel? Of course he aches. and like you said I guess whatever hormones you take for the gender reassignment doesn’t help the feet grow to the proper man’s size for the unproper man’s weight.
Ayor,
If you were watching closer, he did pretty well with his feet. And he does a heck of alot better than Kate Gosselin ever could and look how long she was on the show. Get over it!
You guys look adorable!!I love the red shoes! I think my fotvriae is the one of you guys in the kitchen maybe just because that picture above the stove looks so familiar Love you guys! Can’t wait to see which ones you pick. -Paige
There must be alot of fat people who watch this and try to keep the fat stars on as long as possible no matter how bad they dance. maybe that is what is causing all the earthquakes.
Wow….you must have found a way to get electricity in your cave. Your comment is just outright rude.
Is the cave comment the reponse 2 everything. lol. don`t the fact that chaz IS fat.
I actually like to see the overweight people stay on to watch them loose weight… the healthy way.
THIS! At least he’s getting off his butt and exercising. Sure, he’s got more than 12 pounds to lose, but how does one think he’s going to lose all the weight? Gotta pass 12 sometime.
I’m glad he didn’t get eliminated. The fun thing about DWTS is watching someone get better and actually learn how to dance. I hope he stays on for weeks. He has my votes!
Yes! What you said!
Hopefully he’ll have the balls to continue.
Now that’s funny!!
That was funny!
Yeah he can’t dance only there cause he’s a trans which is whack. Now he’ll use his pain to get ahead in the competition so people will feel sorry for him. Think what you will but Kirstie could actually move and dance and improved… No need to compare the two
HE CAN DANCE~IT’S GREAT AND TALENT COMES NATURAL, I HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER AND GO FAR! YOU’VE GOT THE GROOVE.
S/he needs to man up and stop complaining like a chick.
and EW – STOP THE Kardashian popup ad when you pull up anything having to do with DWTS!!!!!!!!!!! When will this family go away???? Chaz – I have nothing against him personally, but he can NOT dance. This is not supposed to, but is, a personality contest. To B above – watch; Chaz does not dance. at all. he stands there and points. that is all he does. he is using the “knee” excuse to stay in the competition and if he gets voted out will use that as the excuse instead of the fact that he can’t dance.
Of course he’s suffering from injuries, he’s obese. All that weight is taking its toll on his body.
“Taking a pounding”. No pun intended, I’m sure…
So glad you mentioned it. gave me a smile.
It would be nice if the camera did not pan to Bruce Jenner so often. Everytime it happens, my dog starts barking and howling, and my grandson starts to cry. I wish they could just ask him to wear a bag over his head.
Was at the Neil and Amanda show myself on Halloween as well (and got to meet Vampi!) She got far beettr pictures than I did. (You know you need a new camera when the phone in front of you is taking beettr pics!) Anyway, the show was wonderful! Took a friend who had neither read Neil nor heard Amanda (I know! Can you imagine?!?) And she was pretty bowled over by the experience. Neil and Amanda are very sweet together…and one thing I’ll say, I had never seen Amanda in person (though I’ve been a fan) and she is absolutely magnetic. And Mr. Neil? I could listen to him read forever!
God, there’s so much hate towards Chaz! What has he done to deserve this? Nothing!!! How many of you would have the guts to go on a national tv show & dance, without any previous dance experience! I think he is courageous! We should support him, NOT ACT LIKE BULLIES IN AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!!!
SHE not he…
Oh! Are u God??
Cyndi – You obviously haven’t been following along. It’s HE.
@Amy I agree that we should all support Chaz’s right to compete, but that has already happened. After watching him perform for two weeks, it is clear that he is not gifted with dancing talent. I’m sure that Chaz would want to be judged by the same standards that all the other dancers are judged. If it is time for Chaz to go home, then he should accept the decision with class and grace.
Courageous?? Um…no. Courageous is the war vet who faught for our country! Courageous is NOT some obese man who is on a show deeming him a “celebrity” who gets to have free publicity, plus dance lessons. Boo hoo.
“What has he done to deserve this?” are you for real? You don’t know?
It appears that the people who dislike Chaz seem to dislike him for the following reason (in order):
He’s fat
They don’t know what he is
He can’t dance
He’s not a “star.”
Therefore, that’s what he’s “done to deserve this.” Personally, I see no need for people to be vile. I don’t think he’s a great dancer, and he sure does need to lose some weight, but he seems like a nice person, and therefore, doesn’t “deserve” some of the not so nice things that have been typed.
Unitl one has walked the same path as Chaz there is no room for criticism. I think he is a very wonderful person. Those of you that are criticizing him for being over weight know the facts about the medication he is on. I say great job Chaz and your bravery to be honest is commendable.
@ amy…Genetically she is still a she. DNA doesn’t lie. Just stating a fact.
@ Cyndi – DNA has nothing to do with it. Read a book.
So many of you must have really hateful personalities. Don’t be so cruel in your comments. I am impressed with Chaz. It takes incredible courage to go out in front of judges much less a studio and television audience. Yes he is suffering from lack of physical strength and stamina. But I give him credit for putting himself out there. Good luck to him and hope he gets to stay for a few more shows.
I think some of it has to do with people being scared. They’re afraid to support Chaz because of what people might think of them. They don’t understand transgendered people and it scares them! I guess it’s easier to make fun and bully someone than to educate yourself!
He’s still on the show, amy. Get off your soap box.
The truth upsets you??
@Amy What if someone understands transgendered people and just simply does not think that Chaz has any dancing talent and should be voted off the show. Fair is fair, he has been given two, and next week a third appearance, and still has no dancing skills. If he were to be voted off the show, it would not be a judgement of his value or worth as an individual person. Just a judgement that he has no dancing skills.
@ Soap on a Rope- I never said Chaz should stay on the show just because he is transgendered! What I was trying to say was Chaz has every right to BE ON THE SHOW! He should be JUDGED ON HIS DANCING NOT HIS CHOICE TO CHANGE HIS SEX!!!
@Amy I agree with what you said, but I just wanted you to understand that most people can separate a persons lifestyle from how they perform on a dance floor. It is even possible to agree with their lifestyle and still think that they have no dancing skills.
