NBC extends run of 'Parenthood' this season

Tags: , News

The Parenthood season just got a little longer: NBC ordered two additional episodes of the family serial from Jason Katims that stars Peter Krause, Monica PotterĀ and Lauren Graham. That brings the total episode count to 18.

On Tuesday, the drama earned a 2.2 rating/6 share among 18-49 — a 5 percent improvement over debut week. It averaged 5.5 million.

Terrific! I love the cast, and am a loyal fan, but I’d like to see better writing and storylines. More Craig Nelson and Bonnie Bedelia…..with Peter Krause and Lauren Graham….and all the rest.

Were there only 18 episodes last season because I remember the season ended early and I thought it was rather short. I didn’t realize they were giving the show such short seasons. I assumed it was picked up for a full 22-episode season like most shows.

It was a full season of 22, but they premiered a week early and aired all of the episodes almost consecutively, which is why it ended in April instead of May.

    Excellent!

  • Ace

Extend it more ! We want 24 !

  • The Truth

Isn’t 16 or 18 too short? It makes for better quality but it also is NBC’s # 1 drama. You’d think they’d order more but… whatevs…

Let’s take bets on the next ratings bottomfeeder NBC will sign for a full season. I say “Prime Suspect.” Leave
    it to NBC.
