Jimmy Buffett: Pilot in a tropical climate? Yeah, we’ll buy that.

EW has learned exclusively that the singer/songwriter/avid aviator will guest star in an upcoming episode of Hawaii Five-0. Buffett will play a veteran pilot who’s a pal of Lt. Commander Joe White (Terry O’Quinn), and he helps Five-0 rescue one of its own from a sticky situation.

The episode will air this November on CBS.

Starz has already ordered a second season of Kelsey Grammer’s upcoming new drama, Boss, a month before its Oct. 21 debut. “This early vote of confidence from our partners at Starz is extremely gratifying and reflects the tremendous work of all those involved with Boss on both sides of the camera,” said Kevin Beggs, president of Lionsgate Television Group, in a statement. “Kelsey’s dramatic turn in this series is a powerful and radical departure from his previous television roles and we can’t wait for viewers to be drawn into his fascinating world.”

Grammer plays Chicago mayor, Tom Kane, who’s keeping a terrible secret that could cost him his position of power. The premiere episode — one of eight shows this season — also marks the television directorial debut of Oscar-nominated filmmaker Gus Van Sant (Milk).

'Chuck' final season promo teases the final (awesome) chapter -- VIDEO

Categories: Chuck, Television

I have very conflicting feelings as we approach Oct. 21. I’m excited… but I also wish the day would never come. Because once the fifth and final season kicks off, that means it’s the beginning of the end for Chuck.

At least we can all take comfort in the fact that Chuck is going to go out with a bang from the looks of this promo, which started making rounds yesterday.

As you recall, when we left off, Morgan became the new Intersect, and Chuck and Sarah started their own spy agency after Hartley left them millions and millions of dollars as a wedding present. (Also, anyone else totally love seeing them with their wedding rings?)

Are you excited Chuck fans? And what are you hoping to see this season? READ FULL STORY »

Ellen DeGeneres explains chest-pain scare: 'Let me just say, I'm fine'

Categories: Television

Ellen DeGeneres is in good humor after being rushed to the hospital yesterday for chest pains. The comedienne made a jokey statement in her opening monologue just after the incident, declaring “First of all, I’m fine. Let me just say, I’m fine. The paramedics were strippers that I had called. That’s how the rumors got started.” See the full video, and hear the rest of DeGeneres’ explanation after the jump. READ FULL STORY »

'Two and a Half Men' takes a dive but still rules; 'The Playboy Club' falls down rabbit hole

What goes up, must go down — and we’re talking about you, Ashton Kutcher: Two and A Half Men dropped 33 percent from its colossal premiere a week ago, but its week 2 performance was still pretty awesome for such an old comedy. Men averaged a 7.2 rating/17 share in adults 18-49 and 20 million viewers — enough to give it another comfortable win in the time slot, according to early results. It was also the night’s most viewed program across all the major demos, except in adults 50 and over, who still prefer their Dancing With the Stars. More on the sequins later.

Two of CBS’ comedies also took a (not entirely unexpected) dive but heck, it’s still the lineup to beat. READ FULL STORY »

The 32nd Annual Emmy Awards for News & Documentary took place at New York City’s Frederick P. Rose Hall on Monday night, and CBS walked away the biggest victor of the evening, with 10 wins. Larry King was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his decades-spanning career in broadcasting, including 25 years of Larry King Live. King was presented with the award by NBC anchor Brian Williams, who King cited alongside Dan Rather as one of his “two favorite people.” An emotional King told the audience, “I was lucky enough to be in a business where I really didn’t have to work. It was unbelievable to go in every night and meet people and ask them questions. It was a privilege.”

Here’s a list of some of the most notable winners (check out the complete list here), including Katie Couric, Anderson Cooper, Rachel Maddow, Lara Logan and the late Restrepo director Tim Hetherington:

Chuck Lorre hints at tell-all book in 'Two and a Half Men' vanity card

The legal wrangling may be over, but Two and Half Men‘s Chuck Lorre isn’t completely recovered from his ordeal with Charlie Sheen — despite taking such glee in literally burying his show’s star character last week. After last night’s episode, Lorre’s vanity card referenced the recent legal settlement but hinted that this might not be the producer’s final word on the matter.

“Sometime last year I realized I had become the unwilling contestant in a reality show. I didn’t understand the rules, wasn’t sure if there even were any, and pretty much hated every second of it. For many months I kept hoping and praying that it would end. But it did not. Somewhere along the way, something inside me died. READ FULL STORY »

Ricki Lake on skimpy 'Dancing' dress and losing lbs

Ricki-Lake

Derek Hough definitely worked his magic Monday with Ricki Lake: The talk show host topped the leaderboard with a 23 out of a possible 30 points with their jive. And Lake did it in a skimpy confection that she promises will be the first of many itty-bitty dresses.

“He just wanted it to move!” she told reporters. “I think it did. I love it. I feel great. I’m really getting in great shape. I’ll be wearing less and less clothing. The smaller I get, the less will be covered. I certainly am feeling better in my skin. I lost 12 inches now in three weeks. I still have a little ways to go but I’m really, really happy with the progress I made.

“I’m sort of like delirious because it keeps going, this treadmill I’m on. It’s every day and now we’re onto the Rumba. It’s so much fun. This is the time of my life. It’s one of the hardest things my body has ever been through, physically. I’m really enjoying every minute of it.” — With reporting from Carrie Borzillo

'Millionaire Matchmaker' Patti Stanger apologizes for offensive comments about gays

Patti Stanger, star of Bravo’s long-running reality show Millionaire Matchmaker, has issued an apology after making a series of offensive statements about gay men and monogamy on last night’s live season premiere of the cable network’s late-night talk show Watch What Happens: Live. “I am so sorry,” Stanger said in a statement to media watch group The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). “I did not mean to offend anyone with my comments last night on Watch What Happens: Live.”

A spokesperson for Bravo followed that up with a statement from the network. “Bravo regrets the comments expressed by Patti Stanger on Watch What Happens: Live last night. Her comments are not representative of the network’s beliefs and opinions. We apologize for the offense it caused.”

In a question and answer session with fans on the Sunday, Sept. 25, episode, after a gay caller asked about being monogamous in a long distance relationship, Stanger said: “There is no curbing the gays…I have tried to curb you people.” Later in the episode, Stanger alluded to the fact that it was a “compliment” to be straight versus being gay, which visibly flustered host and Bravo executive Andy Cohen.

Stanger is set to appear on HLN’s The Joy Behar Show on Tuesday, Sept. 27, and will likely address the controversy.

Nancy Grace on 'Dancing with the Stars': Are the 'twins' behaving?

Some moments during her performance seemed to indicate otherwise, but Nancy Grace insists that one of her girls did not pop out during her jive with Tristan MacManus on Monday’s Dancing with the Stars.

“When we were doing our hop scotch portion of our dance, there was a little bit of movement but it did not rise to a wardrobe malfunction,” she told reporters after the show. “We have got every precaution known to man in this dress right here. I’m talking industrial strength precautions. So there may have been a little bit of, as Tristan said, jiggling.” READ FULL STORY »

'HIMYM' producers to create sitcom for Fox

After a fierce bidding war, Fox nabbed the next comedy from the How I Met Your Mother producers — a single camera laugher about three siblings who reconnect after their dad dies.

Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, along with Chris Harris, will exec produce a put pilot called The Goodwin Games for fall 2012 consideration. A put pilot comes with severe financial penalties if Fox doesn’t air it, which all but assures its pickup for next season.

And yes, Fox still has many shows yet to debut this season (tonight’s Terra Nova, for one!) but it, like the other broadcast nets, are already focused on next fall’s lineup.
