Official: Charlie Sheen settles suit with Warner Bros.

charlie-sheen_320.jpg

It’s finally and officially over: Charlie Sheen and Warner Bros. TV have settled their differences.

The studio that produces Two and a Half Men just released this statement: “Warner Bros. TV, Chuck Lorre and Charlie Sheen have resolved their dispute to the parties’ mutual satisfaction. The pending lawsuit and arbitration will be dismissed as to all parties. The parties have agreed to maintain confidentiality over the terms of the settlement.”

The payout to Sheen wasn’t disclosed, though some publications have speculated it to be as high as $25 million.

Warner Bros. TV pink-slipped the actor last winter after he publicly derided Men creator Chuck Lorre. Sheen fought back in March by filing a $100 million suit demanding payment for unproduced episodes and compensation for the crew while claiming the studio “wrongfully attributed the suspension of the series and termination of Mr. Sheen’s contract on Mr. Sheen’s alleged statements, conduct, and condition, despite the fact that Mr. Sheen is in compliance with his contract.”

At the 63rd Annual Emmys earlier this month, Sheen seemed to indicate that a settlement was on the horizon after making an unexpected appearance to say ”I want to take a moment to get something off my chest and say a few words to everybody at Two and a Half Men. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you nothing but the best for this upcoming season. We spent eight wonderful years together and I know you will continue to make great television.”

Sheen is focused on developing a new sitcom called Anger Management with Lionsgate TV and veteran TV scribe Bruce Helford (The Drew Carey Show).

'Supernatural' promo: Sam's losing his mind, Dean's (probably not) 'fine,' and the Leviathan takes to the water -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

I’ve already raved about how Friday’s episode of Supernatural was truly one of the scariest ever, and this exclusive promo takes aim at yet other portion of my fear-laden psyche.

In the video, which you can watch below, we learn that the Leviathan have started using the water supply as means of getting around, causing strange mutations to take place. (I get squirmy just thinking about drinking anything unfiltered.) We also get another glimpse at Sam’s post-hell struggle with hallucinations. The only benefit of his issues? The fact that we apparently get to see a lot of Mark Pellegrino this season!  READ FULL STORY »

'The Middle': Guest star Chord Overstreet learns the 'Brick whisper' -- VIDEO

Categories: Television, The Middle

If you’re a fan of ABC’s darling sitcom The Middle, you know exactly what the “Brick whisper” is. It’s almost too hard to explain unless you watch, but basically, it’s a weird tick from eccentric character Brick (Atticus Shaffer), who puts his head down and repeats the last words he’s said in a creepy whisper. It sounds weird, but it’s truly funny on screen.

In this Wednesday’s episode “Hecking Order,” Glee star Chord Overstreet begins a guest stint on the show — as Brick’s new fourth grade teacher, Mr. Wilkerson — and EW has got an exclusive, behind-the-scenes video of Shaffer teaching Overstreet how to do the “Brick whisper.” “It’s a requirement for every guest star,” Shaffer tells Overstreet, of having to learn how to do his patented “whisper.” “Ray Romano, Betty White, everyone who’s on has to learn the ‘whisper.’”

Learn the “Brick whisper” by watching the cute video here:

Actor DJ Qualls (Memphis Beat, The New Guy) was in Vancouver last Friday filming a guest spot on Supernatural when he had an allegedly violent encounter with local police. Qualls tweeted that he was “beaten by a Vancouver Police Officer for no reason.” According to Qualls’ feed, he was leaving a local cafe when he saw a man punch a woman. Qualls claimed he told an officer what he saw and was met with hostility. He tweeted, “He said if I didnt get out of there, he’s arrest me, I asked why and he tackled me, busted my face and handcuffed me.” He continued, “Was not arrested b/c was innocent. I was handcuffed and bleeding while the cop kept saying to me, ‘you think youre f—ing better than me? … Repeatedly asked 4 his badge number and he said if I didnt shut up, Id be taken in. Finally got a card as I was taken to hospital.”

Qualls was admitted to the ER, where doctors stitched up his chin. He sent out another tweet: “I cannot understand it. I’m sitting here, with a busted face in total shock. I literally did nothing wrong.” Vancouver police tell EW that they are investigating the incident.

'Luck' be a teaser trailer: Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte hit the races in dark horse drama

Categories: Television, Trailers

“It’s a beautiful day at the track.” That’s the first line uttered in the teaser trailer for HBO’s latest crime saga, the racetrack drama Luck, which debuted during last night’s second season premiere of Boardwalk Empire. Of course, despite some beautifully shot scenes of horses on a racetrack (the show, is, after all, at the hands of Heat‘s Michael Mann and Deadwood‘s David Milch), it appears what’s going on outside the arena is anything but. Dustin Hoffman stars as a crime boss who has recently been released from prison after three years and is not happy about his lost time. (Not sure if we’ve ever seen Hoffman flip over a table before this!) The teaser clip doesn’t give too much else away about the plot or the rest of the impressive cast (including Nick Nolte and Dennis Farina), but the show looks like it has the same winning pedigree as some of HBO’s other classics. (See: snippets of sex, greed, and violence.) Watch the full clip below. And they’re off… READ FULL STORY »

'Desperate Housewives' way down; 'Pam Am' still manages to take flight

Even without Peyton Manning, the Colts game was a huge draw for NBC, which took the first Sunday of the 2011-12 TV season in adults 18-49 (5.9 rating/15 share) and viewers (14.8 million), according to preliminary results. The game itself (7.2/17) was still down 22% in the demo versus the last one on Sept. 18 — but this time, it had to face originals on the other networks. READ FULL STORY »

'Playboy Club' star Sean Maher opens up about his sexuality: 'This is my coming out ball'

Sean-Maher

Firefly alum and Playboy Club actor Sean Maher has worked steadily in Hollywood for 14 years, and during that time, he made the choice to be closeted about his personal life as a gay man — until now.

For the first time, Maher opens up about his sexuality in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly. “I was nervous coming here today because I’ve just never talked about it,” Maher says, while sitting down to chat at Little Dom’s Italian bistro in Los Angeles’ trendy Los Feliz neighborhood, the area where the actor lives with Paul, his partner of nearly nine years, and their two children, Sophia Rose, 4, and Liam Xavier, 14 months. “But, it’s so liberating. It was interesting to be coming to have a conversation that I was always afraid to have.” Despite his trepidation, he adds with a big smile: “This is my coming out ball. I’ve been dying to do this.”

'Desperate Housewives': Eva Longoria dances on a stripper pole in next episode -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

You’ve got to hand it to the folks over at ABC’s soon-to-end nighttime soap Desperate Housewives: They never stop trying to drum up watercooler moments, as evidenced by EW’s exclusive clip below. The clip — from the show’s second episode, airing this Sunday, Oct. 2 — features Eva Longoria’s character Gaby Solis taking lessons on how to use a stripper pole. “So my husband’s having a little problem in the bedroom,” Gaby admits to her stripper instructor, who then asks: “With his wiener?” A resigned Gaby retorts: “Yes, with his wiener.” Then her too-cute (and too-young!) trainer explains: “Well, you can relax because I’m like a doctor, and I see this problem all the time with older women.” Burn! But Gaby takes it in stride, of course. Then, she shimmies up the pole and gives it a whirl — with hilarious results, of course. The whole interaction is worth a laugh or two.

Dean Cain on his prolific TV movie career, including tonight's 'A Mile in His Shoes'

Dean-Cain

You know, Dean Cain really doesn’t get enough credit. Not only is he one of the hardest working men in showbiz, with no fewer than a half-dozen TV movies every year, but his Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (1993-1997) anticipated pop culture’s current superhero obsession. Tonight, he plays a different kind of hero on GMC’s A Mile in His Shoes, an intimate drama about a minor league baseball manager who recruits and mentors a young man named Mickey Tussler (Luke Schroder), who has Asperger’s Syndrome—and a killer fastball. It’s the kind of heartfelt role that most appeals to Cain. After all, he still considers his most important job to be that of father to his eleven-year-old son. We caught up with the 45-year-old actor and discussed his incredibly prolific TV movie career, why he hasn’t taken a part as a series regular in years, and what he thinks of Hollywood’s caped-crusader craze. Check out our interview with Superman and a clip from tonight’s A Mile in His Shoes after the break. READ FULL STORY »
