Ty Pennington has signed on to join The Revolution, an ABC daytime talk show about health and lifestyle transformations from the team behind The Biggest Loser and Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition.

Pennington is joining previously named hosts Tim Gunn of Project Runway fame and fitness guru Harley Pasternak. “Ty’s passionate and deep connection to everyone he helps makes him the perfect choice to join The Revolution,” said Brian Frons, Daytime president for the Disney/ABC Television Group, in a statement. “Our goal is to include inspiring and informative motivators as we build The Revolution team and continue to evolve our lineup with the type of lifestyle programming that daytime viewers are interested in seeing.”

The Revolution will begin airing in January 2012 as a replacement for One Life to Live.

It’s all about the money! This is all about cheaper pirductoons and pleasing shareholders. And it’s all about treating soap fans as if they were all a bunch of losers sitting at home watching soaps, eating bon bons and getting fat. If you ask me, these network people are the idiots. They have no clue how many hard-working intelligent people watch soaps. They watch soaps to escape from their daily grind, to invest themselves in fictional characters for an hour or two every day! Well, ABC Daytime can kiss me goodbye after Jan. 13th. I will be watching Y&R, B&B and Days from here on in. Never liked these windbags on reality TV anyway because they’re all about telling you how to live your life, how to dress and how to set your dinner table, as if any dummy couldn’t do this!

Am I to assume this is the show to replace One Life to Live once it goes off the air in January. I really like Tim Gunn and used to love Ty, but just can’t see myself watching this show. I really can’t stand another talk show…I used to love Dr. Oz when he was on Oprah, but everyday is even too much of a good thing for me I guess.

The most ridiculous name ever for a talk show….Talk about setting sky-high expectations…

  • Abe Froman

Never understood the appeal of this guy. Don’t get it.

  • Carol

    Still not watching.

I love Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and I think this show, The Revolution could do very well with Ty Pennington.

The Chew is the worst name for a TV show. I will watch so I don’t have to watch ” how to screw up a good show” otherwise known as The Talk. My other issue is the View has been on for years so what’s the sudden one name shows; Talk, Chew, Revolution?

All the network cares about is cheap rubbish programing. Looks like they haven’t learned their lesson with the spew.

I think taking OLTL off the air is ABC’s biggest mistake. Since they put on the CHEW I do not watch ABC during that time slot and will not watch it when they take OLTL of the air. A lot of women that work during the day watch soaps. It is a kind of relaxation to them and if they can’t watch it during the day they eatch the soap channel. I think you are making a big mistake

    • cheryl

Very sad to see OLTL being replaced by yet another talk show..same thing from ABC GMA..the chew..on and on..Who is making such choices? Very sad!!! I hope the soaps find another outlet ..other than the internet..but I will go to the internet rather than watch the same thing over and over…hope some cable. Network picks up where ABC, AND NBC is failing

    oh brother..Fire Brian Frons!

Homer Jay,You obviously don’t watch ABC soaps or know naything about them. We’re living in an age of time-shifting and TV-anywhere. CBS’ the Young & the Restless gets almost 5 million viewers daily, not including DVR and web views. ABC soaps have those viewers. Why? Frons micromanaged his soaps. He hired a hack named Chuck Pratt to write for All My Children. Viewers fled. Frons turned General Hospital into a soap about mobsters. Any primetime programmer who oversaw the severe ratings decline that occurred under Frons, would have been fired years ago. Frons was left to destroy ABC Daytime.Where most TV shows are successfully syndicated overseas, Frons didn’t bother. In contrast, CBS’ Y&R, Bold and the Beautiful, and NBC’s Days of Our Lives are sold overseas and doing very well.

Unquestionably imagine that that you stated. Your favourite justification seemed to be on the web the easiest factor to take into account of. I say to you, I certainly get irked even as other folks think about issues that they just don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the highest and defined out the whole thing with no need side effect , other people could take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thank you
