Viewers continue to take a shine to the New Girl: The Fox comedy, together with more original episodes of Glee and Raising Hope, helped Fox win its third consecutive Tuesday among adults 18-49, according to preliminary results. The Zooey Deschanel laugher (8.6 million) earned a 4.3 rating/11 share in the demo — down 4 percent from last week but still the highest rated program for the night.
Each 18-49 ratings point equals 1.3 million viewers.
Glee (8.2 million) was down 5 percent to a 3.5/10 and Raising Hope (6.5 million) posted a 2.9/7, which was even with last week.
NBC, meanwhile, got spanked from 8 to 10 p.m. thanks to The Biggest Loser, which dropped 13 percent to a 2.0/5 — its lowest-rated fall telecast ever. It averaged 5.6 million viewers. It’s a drag of a lead-in for Parenthood, which at least managed to hold on to the same rating but still lost 9 percent of those adults versus what it did last week. Dang, the Jason Katims series (4.9 million) needs a much better partner on Tuesdays.
The ever-trusty NCIS block continued to flex its muscles from 8-10 — earning a 4.1/12 and 3.4/8. (NCIS averaged 18.8 mil while NCIS: LA got 14.6 mil). Unforgettable grabbed 11.4 million viewers and a 2.4/6, down 4 percent from last week but still decent enough to keep it out of the early cancellation trash bin.
After a repeat of the performance show (1.7/5), the Dancing With the Stars results show earned a 2.8/7 — down 3 percent — and 14.8 million viewers while Body of Proof was up 17 percent to a 2.1/5 and 10.4 million.
Bottom line: Fox won the night with a 3.6/9, followed by CBS ( 3.3/9), ABC (2.2/6) and NBC (2.0/5). In viewers, CBS won with 14.9 million, followed by ABC (11.3 million), Fox (7.9 million), and NBC (5.4 million).
