If you weren’t wearing green or at least sporting a pineapple logo at yesterday’s Psych Fan Appreciation Day, you were probably the odd man out.
Psych fans from all over descended upon the Ziegfeld Theater yesterday as the cast appeared for a screening of their premiere episode and a Q&A session that rivaled Comic-Con-level madness. Much like the show, the event was a blend of quirky and fun. Among the highlights? The on-stage competitions held that pitted Psych fans against each other in challenges and the musical stylings of Dule Hill and James Roday.
The event was the first of its kind for the show, which typically premieres in the summer. But this year, as a result of a crowded summer schedule on USA, which saw the addition of two new series (Necessary Roughness and Suits), USA network co-presidents Chris McCumber and Jeff Wachtel felt like the show could hold its own in the fall against stiff competition. The schedule shift was all the more reason to hold a fan-centered event that would get the show “back into the culture space,” Wachtel said. ”We realized with all the noise happening in the fall season, we wanted to make sure that Psych was the loudest. That’s really why we did this,” McCumber added.

i was thereeee =D
