ABC’s Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 doesn’t premiere until midseason but the show has already garnered buzz for star James Van Der Beek’s comedic portrayal of himself (the series is about two girls who live in an apartment building with the Beek as their neighbor). Now, the former Dawson’s Creek actor is going to have some other ’90s stars to contend with on the sitcom: EW has exclusively learned that Kevin Sorbo (Hercules) and Dean Cain (Lois & Clark) will both appear on separate episodes of the comedy, portraying themselves. Sorbo will be tricked into being a wedding date for one of the roommates, Chloe (Krysten Ritter), while Cain will show up as Van Der Beek’s rival.

who cares?
yeah I know, what is this The Friggin Love Boat, is Screech and Charo far behind!
My best friend has just announced her wedding with a great man who is a cele+brity!
They met-via { millionaireluv_С’σм }
It is nice club for rich men or pretty girls mate.
You do not need to be wealthy or famous, but you can meet your true love, it’s worthy a try.
I thought the exact same thing, but saw the pilot and it’s actually kind of funny.
Sounds fun, heh
I hadn’t heard about this show. Sounds kind of funny.
Actors playing fictional versions of themselves… We have ENTOURUAGE to credit for that now network comedies are starting to do it for washed up “has been” once famous 90′s darlings.
Does anyone know what James van der Beek has been up to since Dawson’s Creek? I’ve seen him Guest Star in an episode of Ugly Betty a few years back but that’s it!
Sorry I spelt Entourage wrong! Bleh!
Actually, Entourage was not the first to do this. As I posted below, I remember a sitcom from the ’90s (with Evan Handler, I think) wherein Jennifer Grey played a fictional version of herself.
Was that show called “It’s Like…You Know” ??
I liked it. I would say the real credit for the trend of celebrities playing themselves goes to Extras.
Neil Patrick Harris made self staring funny in movies
The show was called “It’s like….You Know”? that was funny ! Too bad it got cancelled faster than a Fox network show.
Celebrities were playing themselves back in “The Larry Saunders Show” in 1992.
I think he was in a Ke$ha video too.
Funny cause dean Cain played johnny’s rival on entourage too
Don’t forget Van Der Beek’s classic turn on HIMYM.
Actually this is even in the realm of entourage. He got this character from a funny or die skit calles “Douchbag for Hire” Plus I think it’s good for him to not always be know as that guy with the ugly ass cry lol
He guest starred on Criminal minds and other shows too. Neil Patrick Harris in the Harold and Kumar movies and celebs on the Larry Sanders show are amongst the ones to do it before Entourage
I thought they changed the title?
Yeah, I thought it’s just ‘Apartment 23′ now
The show is worth checking out if only for Krysten Ritter. Going back to her work on Veronica Mars, she has consistently brought the goods. I liked the Starz program, Gravity, and she was great on Breaking Bad. So for her alone I will give the show a chance.
I was thinking just the opposite; I was not a fan of her turns on Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls or Gossip Girl.
This show will either be great or die fast. Beware of hype, sometimes it kills the show faster if they don’t deliver from line one.
Sounds a bit like the sitcom where Jennifer Grey played a fictionalized version of herself…
Isn’t Matt LeBlanc also on a show with a similar premise in terms of playing a fictionalized version of himself?
my sisters friend makes $50 an hour on the internet. She has been unemployed for 8 months but last month her cheque was $6200 just working on the internet for a few hours. Go here

Noooo Not Krysten Ritter. Hate her.
Woo! Love Dean Cain!
Wasn’t the title changed to just Apartment 23 like agest ago?
Oooh lets all hate on a TV that hasn’t aired yet…
Hate sees to be the primary emotion here at EW. Sad, isn’t it.
seems*
Is it possible to cancell a show before it airs because all the previews for this looks awful. And it is never a good sign to rely on celebrity cameos for cheap laughs.
Love Krysten Ritter on breaking bad. that chic rocks.
