'The Simpsons' promo reacts to two-season renewal -- FIRST LOOK VIDEO

Fans of The Simpsons will not be having a cow for at least two more years, given last Friday’s announcement that Fox has renewed the animated comedy for a 24th and 25th season. Clearly in a festive mood after those touch-and-go negotiations, the show’s writers have put together a Simpsons promo for you that riffs on the big announcement via clips from past episodes. As a bonus, Dan Castellaneta, who voices Homer, has even updated the lyrics from the season 13 song “They’ll Never Stop The Simpsons.” To sneak a peek, press play and celebrate the family that doesn’t know the meaning of the word “canceled.”

You do not need to be wealthy or famous, but you can meet your true love, it’s worthy a try.

  • steevoh

Yes, the show is not as great as it once was, but there’s at least one or two laugh-out-loud moments every episode. I am glad that they’ll have a chance to wrap up the show as they see fit.

    • David

I agree with you. But sometimes it takes a second watching of newer episodes some time later to really appreciate them I will often find.

      • Terry of NJ

Everyone who says the show is not as good as it used to be are oh so pathetic. I am 65 years old and the episodes from the early 1990s can’t compare with the shows that are on now. Sure you might run out of an idea but the characters are so complete now that we have come to understand what makes them tick and we love the Simpsons for that. So all you teenagers out there and inchoate twentysomethings don’t be so cynical with your postings. I’ve heard it a thousand times for eveyone or thing that hangs around for a long time. The Rolling Stones are not as good as they used to be. Spielberg films are not as good as they used to be, Madonna sucks, Springsteen sucks, Julia Roberrts is an old fart, Law and Order is pukey.. Whatever, your thoughts, it’s always negative because you are so avant garde. Christ, your 15 years old get over it. The Simpsons if they came on TV today would instantaneously be just as vital as they were 22 years ago.

      • Cris

Terry, you forgot to end your inane rantings with “and get off my lawn.”
Oh yeah, and if you think the early years “can’t compare” with recent episodes, time to check yourself into the local assisted living community.

      • ZackBauer

        @Cris: Well said, sir.

      • A BiPolar Guy

There is really no good defense against the “you’ll know better when you are older” assertion. And guess what. It’s usually right, as obnoxious as it can be to hear.

So get off my lawn, you dang kids!

      • Phillip

I stopped watching a long time ago. I watched it growing up and as I grew up, they got less funny. It wasn’t that I was outgrowing them, it wasn’t as smart as it used to be, it has tried to become as inane as Family guy. I’ll watch seasons 1-10 all day, but after that, who cares?

    • Joseph

If I were famous I would lileralty be in hibernation until I lost ALL the baby weight. so far at 8 moths pregnant I have only gained 10 pounds but STILL.. Hollywood is so critical about people’s weight. In that magazine that announced her pregnancy they had an article directly following her pregnancy announcement that was titled Who’s pregnant and who’s fat! Not a single celebrity who was pictured in the magazine actually looked fat . It made me sick.

  • Bobby’s Robot

I still look forward to it every Sunday night.

    • TROY

      Agreed

  • Dave

I have never known a world without The Simpsons…. I don’t want to.

    • Tony

I hope it goes on another 7 years, that way it will have been on for half my life (assuming I live to be 60 and we still have TVs then).

    • sebastian

      Yes! I agree!

    • C.

      Couldn’t agree more.

    • ones

  • Callie

  • DanielF23

    Woo-hoo!

  • iHeart

you know it’s weird when they have that shot of Grampa Simpson with Patty and Selma because Grampa actually DID marry Selma in season 18

    • ricardo

i hope the simpsons never stops. i enjoy ever episode

  • methisguy.

I hope I die before this show ends.

  • blackjesus

    I love the simpson

    • Lisa S

      Which one?

  • pat gonzales

glad your staying 2 more years, and for the show’s hater’s DON’T HAVE A COW MAN!”

  • Inofaith

Didn’t know it was on the verge of getting cancelled :O it’s gotta be the best, longest animated sitcom ever. As long as all the voice actors are a live and the writers can go on, they shouldn’t stop.

    • Babu

      i totallt agree

  • liz

Thank goodness..what would I watch if there was no simpsons ?

  • blackjesus

    Je suis tres content…

    • Chris

as Willie would say; “Bonjour you cheese eating surrender monkeys.

  • battlefielddoctor

I’ve always love the simpsons ( pretty much the only show that isn’t made by Seth Mcfarlane) which don’t get me wrong, I like some of his shows, but now it’s a bit overboard with all his shows on fox. I Already lost one of my favorite shows on television, king of the hill, so the simpsons is all I have!
