Larry Hagman has been diagnosed with cancer, but still hopes to continue his role on TNT’s upcoming revival of Dallas.
The actor issued a statement announcing the news, which was first reported by TV Guide. The 80-year-old actor declined to say what kind of cancer he has, only that it was “very common and treatable.” Hagman is set to reprise his role as J.R. Ewing as part of an ensemble cast relaunching the iconic 1980s TV series for a new generation
“As J.R. I could get away with anything — bribery, blackmail and adultery,” Hagman said. “But I got caught by cancer. I do want everyone to know that it is a very common and treatable form of cancer. I will be receiving treatment while working on the new Dallas series. I could not think of a better place to be than working on a show I love, with people I love. Besides, as we all know, you can’t keep J.R. down!”
Warner Bros. TV and TNT issued the following statement: “Everyone at Warner Horizon Television, TNT and the entire Dallas family completely supports Larry Hagman during this time. We look forward to watching Larry once again work his magic by bringing one of television’s most interesting, complex and controversial characters back to the screen in the new Dallas series.”
Hagman expects to start production on the series Oct. 17.

Sorry to hear this. Big C’s gonna get us all sooner or later.
bet the show will be gone before him.
Sending all the best to Larry and hoping someone gets off their duff and gets an “I Dream of Jeannie” movie made sooner than later so he cameo! Say what you will about remakes but I honestly think the ‘Dallas’ revamp is a good idea because it takes some familiar elements but goes in any direction it wants with new stories. Also, they’re getting the casting right.
It stars Jesse Metcalfe, who has not been in a hit since he left ”Desp. Houswives”, he may be cursed.
Spot on. Don’t know what JJ is talking about!
Sorry to hear that, but he’s a tough old bird! He’ll be fine! My Dad’s 80, he had a tumor removed from his colon 3 yrs ago. He’s cancer free and working at Walmart everyday! He’s tough too!
I hope he is fine, but gotta realize he’s lived a long life so far.
my friend’s aunt makes $ 54 an hour on the computêr. She has been fired for 6 months but last month her check was $ 5731 just working on the computêr for a fêw hours. The sìte is CashHard.cÒm
Well this is a bummer! I’m glad to hear it’s treatable, hopefully he’s caught it early. Looking forward to the new Dallas!
Damn! I expect JR Ewing to outlive me! Best wishes to Larry. I love all his work.
I wish you the best Larry, get well soon.
Personally speaking, I’m a fan of the books and lonkiog forward to the film.Professionaly speaking, the teaser would have been more effective had they used one of the Games Makers’ voices as the narrative as opposed to Liam’s (I assume that’s who it was). It should have been more ominous sounding, as if they were using the voice of the Head Game Maker give the Welcome to the Games speech, and some indication that they’re fighting to the death. People who haven’t read the books didn’t take anything away from that teaser.I mean this purely as constructive criticism because I’d like to see this franchise succeed.
Spammer dirtbag
Not to worry . TNT will soon cancel this dud in the making and LH will be free to pursue his treatment . Good luck Tony Nelson !
Mr Hagman is the best. Always thought he should of got a oscar nomination for his charactor of the Governor in Primary Colors.
All the best to you Larry. Can’t wait to see the new Dallas.
I wish old people would just shut up and die already! For cryin out loud! The man is 80! Throw him off the cliff and make another actor already! Sheesh!
