An Other is coming to the Hamptons.

EW has learned exclusively that Hiroyuki Sanada — best known for playing Dogen, a member of the Others on Lost — will recur on ABC’s Revenge this season.

Sanada will play Kioshi Takeda, a Japanese business man with mysterious ties to Emily Thorne (Emily Van Camp). He’ll show up in episode 9.

On Lost, Sanada’s character preferred to communicate in Japanese so he required a translator. He was the only one who could keep the Man in Black out of the Temple, but then Sayid drowned him to death, so Titus Welliver’s alter-ego came in as a pillar of smoke and massacred the Others and … but, hey, look at us digressing!

Last week, ABC ordered nine more episodes of Revenge, which brought its total order to 22 for this first season. The show averaged 7.9 million viewers and a 2.7 rating in the adult demographic on Wednesday, just barely edging out CSI to win the 10 p.m. hour.

    *SIGH* I miss LOST!!!

    • lisa g.

Let me guess… Things will not end well for him on Revenge!

      • Jenny

Is this show Revenge really so awful that the only thing semi-interesting is that a guy with a bit role on Lost is joining it?

      • lisa g.

@Jenny…It’s actually really good if ur into the 80/90s glossy nite time soap thing! But i get ur point….but EW is just really supportive of all things LOST…..the best show ever!

    • Arcticrose

      Me too!

      • MOn

Me three, LOST was my fav.

      • iris

        Me four! Lost…..sigh…

    • Penny Widmo’

      Me five. Nothing compares. :sigh:

    • Gregg

      Me Six.

      • Melissa

        Me Seven…*sigh*

  • Felix

LOVE HIM. He injected so much class into Lost and Sunshine!

  • lexi

Meh I never got into Lost, but I love Revenge!

    • Melissa in CA

You missed out on the best show on TV. EVER.

      • Jay

OK Lost was a good show, but I think the best show ever goes to Breaking Bad.

      • Noway

Not Hardly! I’m glad I passed on it.

      • Renee

    • Ava

You saved yourself a lot of disappointment. The first three seasons were excellent but the back half was lackluster at best with terrible pay off.

  • Ruby

Loved the guy and Lost, but never quite understood WHY he was able to keep the Man in Black out…

    • Mike

Probably another one of Jacob’s RULES.

  • Dave

Dogen and Lennon were one of the weak spots of the sixth season of Lost. I was so happy when Sayid killed them both. There’s nothing more gratifying than when a character you hate gets killed (Note to Revenge writers: kill Declan).

    • beth g

      yes! please kill off declan!

    • lisa g.

@Dave…..ita. I did not like this guys role on Lost.

  • outside agitator

    thanks for two things:

    1) news about Revenge and…

    2) reminding me why I stopped watching Lost after season 2. what a load of mumbo jumbo BS.

    • e4ia

I guess I can understand. After season 2, Lost became much more layered, complex and dove deeper into the island’s mythology. It became less about some people stranded on a deserted island and more about THE people and why they were on that island. Not everyone’s cup of tea, I’m sure…

      • Cris

To be fair, though, season 2 really was tough to muddle through. Some of those episodes were just awful. I’m glad I stuck around, but I don’t blame anyone who left.

    • Q

Too bad, you missed some of the best episodes of Lost by quitting after season 2, and simply some of the best episodes of television ever produced, period. (No, I’m not exaggerating).

      • Dgently

Yeah. Who can forget the Jack’s tattoo epsidode?

      • Melissa

        Season five was AMAZING!

    Hey Dogen!

  • ShotgunShogun

I did like him in Lost, but he was fantastic in Twilight Samurai.

  • TH

He was all so great in Ringu – the original Japanese Ring

  • Justin

Not to be a total dork, but technically he wasn’t really an other.

    • Penny Widmo’

I was thinking the same thing.

      • quangtran

I’m pretty sure he counts as an Other. He was part of the barefoot Others who kidnapped Zach, Emma back in season 2. All the temple Others were barefoot.

  • Bill A.

He’s not an alum. He audited one class.

  • Jim

I miss Lost too. I keep hoping to find that ONE show that will serve as a worthy substitute for Lost. I even have the entire series Blu-Ray box set on my coffee table. Hint, there is a disk hidden in the lid of the box. But I am really enjoying Revenge. It is based on The Count of Monte Cristo. Which is one of my favorite books. Re-reading it now. All 3200 pages. BTW, did you notice the book on the book shelf of the Psychiatrist’s book shelf? The Count of Monte Cristo.

    • adam

I miss Lost too. While there may be other shows on TV right now that are technically better than Lost (shows that I very much enjoy and look forward to on a weekly basis), nothing has captured my heart the way Lost did. There’s no other show that has made me feel as connected to its characters as much as Lost did. No other show has filled me with the kind of excitement and emotion that Lost did. I’m beginning to think nothing ever will.

      • Penny Widmo’

I get what you mean. To me Lost was an event, not just a TV show. I really like Parenthood and look forward to it each week but I don’t wake up in the morning with that same anticipation and excitement I did for Lost. Nor do I feel compelled to go online and discuss it or seek out spoilers. I think Revenge is alright.

        Lost was something special.

  • Deanna

    God how I miss Lost!!!!

  • Siked

I love him on LOST and I’m glad he’ll guest star on Revenge one of my fav new shows. GOSH I miss LOST

  • ltdies

    joining the chorus..I miss Lost.

but ….against my better judgement…I’m enjoying Revenge.
