After numerous guest appearances on TV shows, Mandy Moore seems poised to make a more permanent move to the small-screen.
The actress has just signed on to star in the single-camera ABC sitcom, Us and Them, her publicist confirmed Wednesday.
ABC has ordered a put-pilot of the family comedy, which will be told through the lens of newlyweds Annie (Moore) and Ben, and will explore inherent conflict between the families we grown up in and the families we make.
Night at the Museum’s Shawn Levy is set to direct, while Wedding Crashers co-writer Bob Fischer is penning the project. Moore’s manager, Jon LeShay — who was the music supervisor on three of her films, including A Walk To Remember, Saved, and How To Deal — will produce. Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements will executive produce along with Fisher and Levy.
Though this is Moore’s first starring role on TV, she’s certainly no stranger to the medium. The actress/singer was a guest-star on Grey’s Anatomy, How I Met Your Mother, and Entourage (where she played herself). She’s also the voice of Mara on the animated series, TRON: Uprising.
But what’s she supposed to do after the second week when it gets canceled?

And the thing is… it doesn’t matter whether the show is good or not. If it doesn’t get huge ratings (and I can’t imagine Mandy Moore being that much of a draw), it won’t last more than a season—if it gets picked up at all. That’s the way TV works, sadly.

Mandy Moore is lovely, gorgeous, sexy and beautiful. She’s amazing. That woman is incredible. I hope she does more mainstream movies from now on and begins her ascension to the A-list.

She also guest starred on a little show called [scrubs]! Maybe you’ve heard of it? Although to hear of it NBC would’ve had to actually promote the show and not move it to 73 different time slots over the 7 seasons they aired it.
I’ll definitely give it a chance, I usually like her in the roles she’s played. Anyone seen Saved? It’s pure comedic perfection with Moore at the helm as Hilary Faye, the one who made the movie priceless.

This show sounds a lot like that other aBC show from last season with Joanna Garcia that was canceled.

I’ve always thought she was an under appreciated talent. She came on the scene with Britney and Christina but never became a wreck like them. And she’s married to Ryan Adams which gives her major street cred.
