NBC's 'Fear Factor' trailer lives up to the hype -- EXCLUSIVE

Really. Based on this trailer, the new Fear Factor debuting Dec. 12 is exactly what NBC has described: Just like the old reality hit, only ramped up to another level. Contestants get blown up, yanked out of office building windows, crash cars through trains, eat live scorpions and — potentially the most horrifying stunt of all for the bawling blonde in this clip — get their head shaved.

Reality show revivals have struggled in the past (American Gladiators? The Mole?), but I can see this adrenaline-heavy reboot of Fear Factor performing strong in the ratings. See what you think, trailer below:

    • @LOL

Which is why America loves it because America loves crap.

      • American

Really? I think you’re jealous, and you say these things to make yourself feel better. I’m going back to my American dream now. Have a nice life.

  • It’s Sabotage!

    I love watching a commercial – just so I can watch a commercial…

Would Fear Factor’s producers be required to pay royalties to the Beastie Boys for using their music, or has the music been altered enough to be considered an original work?

    • jack J.

I was totally waiting for them to start singing “it’s a sabotage!!”

  • Beauty

Waited years for this to get off the air, now it’s BACK!

  • Anonymous

I’m pumped for the rebirth of Fear Factor and glad Rogan’s back on board as host… dude’s hilarious and a great fit for this imo. No other show has ever made me cringe and laugh as much as this one and I can’t wait to see how far they take things now…. and all in HD, haha.

  • El Oh El

The commercial before the commercial was in Spanish… weird.

  • Cain

    HD kids… yup.

  • Albertkitten

Awesomeness! Joe Rogan? Where have you been all my life?!

  • Radzinsky

Why are they recycling so many of the old show’s stunts? I mean, I’m definitely gonna watch this, but do we really need to see the bee-suit again? Or all those variations on cars flipping and crashing? Not to mention the HEAD SHAVING!? Are you kidding me? That was one of the absolute dumbest, most moronic things this show has ever done, and now they’re bringing it back? Please.

  • No Name Roger

    Powerful Joe Rogan. Powerful.

    • Nate

“You can charge that to the game!”

    • Rob

      Well done.

  • dryedmangoez

Fear Factor has always been known for the eating challenges, but I always enjoyed the extreme stunt challenges more. Kinda strange that NBC wouldn’t hold on to the show to premiere after the holidays, but I guess getting a headstart is good. And in HD!

…and hear I thought there was a slight chance civilization wasn’t ending. Lame.

  • BW

Hey people who don’t like it. Here’s an idea. Don’t watch it.

I never got why some people feel the need to insult others who like stuff they don’t. I’m an intelligent person (science degree and an MBA), not trashy by any means. But I find this entertaining. Why can’t u just accept it?

I may not like Twilight and stuff, but i don’t feel the need to bash and insult those who do.

    I’m pumped for the return

    • Rob

      Hate filled world.

      • dureen kilpatrick

I am with you BW, and I am just a regular person.
If we all liked the same things this world would be boring. I love the show and Joe Rogan. You can only feel sorry for the people who feel the need to bash other people

    • Brian Wallace

Just because you have a science degree and an MBA doesn’t mean you’re an “intelligent person.” Actually, you probably either don’t have a job or hate the one you are at. The person who realizes that crap like “Fear Factor” is utterly worthless is an “intelligent” person. You’re thesis is: “I’m entertained by watching sh*t! Is that so wrong?”
Yes. It is wrong. And if I have to explain why then maybe they should come along and take your “MBA” and “science degree” back.

Hey! Let’s make up accomplishment! I’m a doctor! I’m a king! I have an MBA!

No one cares. You’re a loser.

Many would define visiting an entertainment website that reports news on such things as Twilight, Fear Factor and the Real Housewives as a waste of time.

        Why are you even here?

I used to act like an elitist. I would mock and insult people that watched movies like Transformers. At the end of the day, I realized why do I care if people watch Transformers? I may think it is stupid but, it has no impact on me if they do. At the same, I know people that work two jobs and come home exhausted. They are so drained that they simply can`t unwind to something like The Wire. They need some mindless entertainment in order to relax themselves after a stressful day.

Also, there is a difference between discussing why you believe Fear Factor is not a good show opposed to insulting those who watch it. If you were truly intelligent you would be able to articulate an opinion to why Fear Factor is not a good show without having to personally insult people.

I am sure there are things in your life that hordes of people would insult you about, but, you enjoy for personal reasons. It could be as simple as eating any form of junk food (which has no value other than to taste something good ), smoking or drinking. Fear Factor is the junk food/beer/cigarette of the television world. It is a guilty pleasure people partake in to escape the world for an hour.

So again, in my humble opinion. It is ok to criticise Fear Factor but to insult people that watch it as beneath you speak volumes about the type of human being you are. If it is funny how instead of debating, people feel the need to throw out personal insults or belittle the person they are talking to.

        Grow up.

      • Damon

Sorry to break it to you Brian but its clear by your comment, that you are the troll and a loser. Sometimes even the most intelligent of us need to park our brains and take a break. What you do when you take that break does not reflect on your intellect. The fact that you read the article and then left a troll message shows what kind of time wasting loser you are.

      • Quirky

Hey Brian, I’m pretty sure truly “intelligent” people wouldn’t be caught dead on EW.com in the first place. We all come to this site for one reason: we all like a little bit of trash in our entertainment. Some people like Twilight, some people like American Idol and some people like me love shows with crazy stunt work like Fear Factor, Mythbusters and Amazing Race.

      • BW

Actually I’m gainfully employed and do enjoy my job. Once again, that doesn’t make me a loser because I like the show. it just means we have different tastes. but thanks for proving my point.

      • Troy

Brian, I’m laughing at you…because you’re arguing like a little kid who loves the sound of his own voice, on a thread, about a show that you hate.

    • Marco

Spare us your “don’t watch it”. That’s what the comment thread is for – stating one’s opinion on the topics of the articles presented.

Be as “pumped” as you like for the return of this “stuff” – that’s fine. But don’t act like you are so refined that you don’t make similar comments on other things.

Personally, I’m “shocked” that Joe Rogan is back, as I’ve heard him on various podcasts state that he wasn’t necessarily the biggest fan. But I guess a check is a great motivator.

      • Rob

Yeah he pretty much said on his Podcast that money was a huge motivating factor for returning. But even when he insulted the show in the past, he always stated he would go back again because he enjoyed aspects of it.

      • Damon

Actually Marco, I would never log on to a page of a show that I didn’t like and post a troll comment. I don’t like to crap on people’s happy parade, I have better things to do.

      • BW

Ok, if you paid attention, while I did say don’t watch it, the big part of my post was just about why people feel the need to bash others who do watch it.

      • Mike

My question is, would it be more interesting if some one with a science degree and MBA were on it? I heard that might be the case this year.

      • Beatrice

That’s the best answer by far! Thanks for contribuitng.

  • Chris

    Yes?

  • Boof

They canceled this show years ago because it sucked. Just sayin’….

  • Ron Sharp

    awesome!!!
