Yes, he’s back: Chord Overstreet has inked a deal with Fox to return to Glee.
The actor has signed up for a multi-episode/recurring arc on the show, and is back on the air sooner than you might think. Sam Evans is set to reunite with the glee club in December. The move might help boost the show’s ratings — Glee has seen its numbers slip since returning this fall.
Sam’s departure was explained in the season 3 premiere by his father getting a job in another town. But as Tim Stack pointed out last week, the big question is what this will mean for Amber Riley’s Mercedes, who began dating Sam in the season 2 finale but now has a new boyfriend. Here’s some pre-packaged quotes:
“We love Chord and have always said that we wanted him back,” said co-creator Ryan Murphy. “So here’s an early Christmas present for all the Gleeks — Sam is coming back to McKinley, and just in time for sectionals!”
“I had the best time on Glee and couldn’t be more excited to be returning,” Overstreet said.

I agree! I watched for the past two seasons and then lost interest. Too many guest stars, story lines weren’t that good and there was less singing. Went back to watching NCIS. I always say I am going to watch Glee on the computer but never do. I think the buzz is gone…

Agreed. Ugh. Glee just keeps adding more and more characters and not getting in depth with much on that show.
SaraS is right, there are way too many characters and little is going on with some of them.
The thing about these comments is: I’m pretty sure this was not a case of the actor walking away from his cushy TV job and getting his comeuppance. I think the producers cut him loose for their won reasons then changed their minds. Pretty sure that if Chord Overstreet had his druthers he never would have left in the first place.

Nope. It was reported that producers offered him a job at the beginning of the season and he said no. Cee Lo White is probably bang on the money.
Yep his deal was up and during negotiations he wanted a full series regular deal. The producers said no & Chord/His Agent stuck to their demands and the producers let him go. Guessing the money started to dry up and he couldn’t find work elsewhere so he called them up begging for the deal he was originally offered.
Chord’s pride got in the way. He probably felt he was a sure-thing to become a regular and when he wasn’t, it clearly hurt him. I think because of that he felt like he couldn’t stay on the show anymore and decided to focus on his music. After being away from his friends and the show for a while, he probably missed the show and realized that the person he hurt most of all in this situation was himself.
Except Chord himself said that they let him go and then later tried to get him back with no real commitment on using him at all.
He never said that. They offered him 10 episodes with the option to become a regular when those episodes were done (a great deal in terms of television). He declined.
@Captain He did say it, he said that his contract wasn’t picked up, he moved on, and then was asked back for a few episodes with no guarantee. The only one who ever said 10 episodes was Brad at Comic Con.

I would agree with you but I think the show has improved. The problem is that the first 13 were so tight that anything less is an Asian F. The back 9 of season 1 were completely uneven not to mention the travesty that is referred to as season2 . Season 3 is getting better, the question is can it get better before the production values make the show to expensive to continue on? Also, I hate to say it but I don’t want Chord back. Regardless of the backstage drama, there are too many characters on the front burner and you can see the spin off writing a coming. They will need to do it just from the amount of characters alone.

I totally forgot he was even on the show! That says a lot. Still, it should be interesting to see how they handle his return and his scenes with Mercedes.

He was my favorite character last season and I thought the episode about his family losing their house was the best one story wise. Glad they are bringing him back. I loved the idea of him & Mercedes Her new BF is kind of jerk.
Yay! Love Chord’s Sam Evans. Can’t wait for him to return. I hope he gets back or at least tries to get back with Mercedes. That could be an interesting storyline. I wonder which Glee club he’ll join, assuming he joins at all.
He isnt unemployed. He has a recurring role on The Middle as a teacher. Perhaps he will do both.
The role isn’t recurring – it was a one-off appearance. Boy is out of work, and hasn’t been able to get a record deal either.
