'Gossip Girl' ad mocks lack of Jewish characters

Tags: , News

“There aren’t many Jewish people on Gossip Girl …” begins a new ad for The CW’s veteran drama.

Tonight’s episode has the GG crew celebrating Yom Kippur in their own irrepressible style. Granted, the High Holiday was a couple weeks ago, but naturally the socialite crowd is fashionably late. Check out this EW first look teeing up tonight’s episode (the shofar joke is great):

Not a fan of the show, but that was amusing.

Always glad to see Wallace Shawn, however, even if he is blowing the…

My best friend has just announced her wedding with a great man who is a cele+brity!
      They met-via { millionaireluv.сσм }
It is nice club for rich men or pretty girls mate.
You do not need to be wealthy or famous, but you can meet your true love, it’s worthy a try.

    WHY? Who cares?

  • Rusty Shackleford

They don’t need any stinking jews.

seriously? EW, you really need to add a “report abuse” link. Do you really want people like this spewing their hate on your website?

      • Ava

This is pretty tame compared to the racism you see on the Amazing Race and Survivor message boards. I agree, a report abuse link would be great!

I suppose you have never seen the likes of nanya? it has been a while but she was vile

  • Josh

    That was cute.

  • Emily

LOL! A little late for a promo at this point, but it looks like fun!

(As usual, could use a Chuck and Blair scene, though…)

  • Sandra

    That was fun!

  • Nadia

I would rather have a Chuck and Blair scene.

  • Kally

    I love you Wallace Shawn!!!

As per usual a little dry without CB but that was cute!

  • Amanda

Sorry. The promo didn’t make me excited for GG. I am bored with Blair and Louis. There is too much Dan and too little Chuck. And where are my Chair scenes? Gossip Girl is awful this season. No wonder the ratings are awful.

    • Andy

I think this sums up all of the problems with Gossip Girl. The only people who enjoyed most of last season and this season are Dan fans. I can’t imagine they are a majority and the ratings show it.

  • Lucy

Thank god there was no CB! Cute ad.

  • Annalino

This is awkward in my opinion,we all know they are christians except Cyrus,it isn’t realistic at all to imagine the future princess of a catholic country organising a jewish party xd

  • Lindsay

    yeah,we want more CHAIRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Annalino

I want chuck and blair talking to eachother,is it to much to ask?

  • elli

I too wonder about the lack of Jews on GG. As a Jewish actor in NYC I have never been able to work that show. I can only imagine how insulting this episode will be to the Jewish community.

    • Dominic

I’m glad someone else sees the irony here.

    • Lilly

I think the producers are both Jewish though Safran and Siegel? and some of the writers are jewish. could be wrong

  • Trace

I’d only want a Blair and Chuck scene if it involved him dying.
