CBS gives full-season orders to 'Person of Interest' and 'Unforgettable'

There are questionable full-season pickups and then, there are the no-brainers. This one is the latter: CBS has picked up the back nine episodes of Person of Interest, the network’s latest procedural that stars Michael Emerson and Jim Caviezel.

The drama about a former CIA agent and mysterious billionaire who attempt to prevent violent crimes has averaged a 3.0 rating/10 share in adults 18-49 and 14 million viewers.

CBS also ordered the remaining nine episodes of Unforgettable, the Poppy Montgomery starrer about a former police detective with a rare ability to remember everything. The drama has averaged a 3.3/8 in the key demo and 13.9 million viewers.

The network has already given a full-season commitment to 2 Broke Girls and canceled How to Be a Gentleman. The jury is still out, however, on A Gifted Man starring Patrick Wilson.

Give “A Gifted Man” a full season!

    • sandd95

      I second that!!

      • likda

My best friend has just announced her wedding with a great man who is a cele+brity!
        They met-via { himillionaires.сσм }
It is nice club for rich men or pretty girls mate.
You do not need to be wealthy or famous, but you can meet your true love, it’s worthy a try.

    • Kim from Texas

I agree. It is way better than the other two shows combined.

    • Roger

I love “A Gifted Man” and “Person of Interest” reminds me of one of my all time favorite shows, “The Equalizer”.

      • 3reddogs

        Totally agree.

  • Miranda

Great news, Person of Interest is a great show!

    • harry

      hear hear!!!

    • Marie,San Diego

      Thank you CBS!

  • P

Why did 2 Broke Girls get a full season commitment ? It wasn’t that great….
Also what about “Whitney”, it makes one say “What the Frak ?”…..one would think it would be in the “cancelled in the first month…no..first week” category.

    • rlb237

      Whitney is not on CBS.

  • Kate

“Two Broke Girls” has good ratings, so it was picked up. Quality does not mean much to the networks. They look at the ratings. The ratings for “Whitney” are not good, but poor NBC doesn’t have much else to put on.

  • Michelle

I’m happy to see that Person of Interest got a full season order. It’s a great show!

  • JimmyH

“Unforgettable” is excellent and Poppy looks fantastic with that red hair.

    • Kurt Russell

      And tight tank tops

    • joanb

Poppy’s hair drives me nuts. It’s dyed TOO red and it looks like it s too messy. She’s supposed to be NYPD with spaghetti strap t shirts?. Give me a break.Tom Selleck would send her home to change clothes.
Please CBS put The Good Wife back on Tues. @l0pm, give Sunday @9pm to Unforgettable.

  • Kate

For my mom, renew A Gifted Man, was the only new show that my mother could remember the name for when I asked her the other day what new shows she was watching. Now, I don’t watch it because I have far too many commitments on Friday night (I am pretty sure it is opposite Chuck and Nikita), but let my mom have show with a guy that is so her type.

  • David Forsmark

How is a show about a billionaire who secretly funds a CIA agent preventing crimes by use of a fictional predicting machine a “procedural”?

    • rlb237

Because it’s still a case of the week, and they wrap up an arc within every episode.

  • CiCi217

Next year should be interesting. I bet 2-3 of the CSI shows are all done with. CBS will need even more procedurals

  • jj

Persons of Interest is a great show, but i hope there will be a season arc with a big mysterie, and drop the every episode different case story line (not for every episode)

    • frank

There is an arc — The detective is chasing him.

    • ST

I agree JJ-I really like Person of Interest and though the detective chasing him is a good story line, he needs to be searching for something. Avenging someone’s death or searching for a missing loved one. Love Jim Caviezel though. Kind of reminds me of a young Clint Eastwood in this part (smoky voice, doesn’t care about the risks to his own life but tries to help those who really need it).

      • Marie,San Diego

Agree. Jim Caviezel not only possessed a smoky voice but his eyes expression says it all. I also love the character when engaging with intricate martial art fighting.
        THANK YOU CBS!

    • Brad

I figure sooner or later either Emerson or Caviezel’s SSN will come up and that will set up an arc

    • BLT

Don’t forget Finch and Reese’s backstories…that can play for seasons. Also, Carter chasing Reese will provide ample material, especially since she doesn’t seem to be the brightest bulb in the pack, if ya know what I mean. I’m psyched the show was picked up for a full season. Also, Caviezel is super hot, so that is an added bonus.

  • Angie

I’m glad to hear Person of Interest has been picked up for a full season. It’s a very good show and I have greatly enjoyed every episode.

  • LOL

    America loves crap.

    • jj

The Shows are not crap, there awesome and very good.

      • Justin

Well said, jj. I couldn’t agree more.

    • Maka

Pretty much. How American Idol survives. DWTS survives. Hawaii 5-0, NCIS:LA, CSI Miami, CSI NY, and now Person of Interest and Unforgettable. Unforgettable is pretty much only succeeding off the NCIS block lead in. It’s like the CBS’s Whitney, it’s that bad.

Okay, not that bad. It’s awful, but not offensive. Still comes close though.

    • Sharlie Cheen

And there it is. LOL never fails to add this pithy comment to any show or movie news.

  • Lisa

I really like person of interest too. It’s my only Thursday show. I think the mothership is doing the best of the CSI franchises so perhaps CSI Miami and NY will be gone. Somewhat surprised they both got full seasons but CBS does need to get new rookie series going since the ones that are good are all going into 10+ seasons except NCIS LA and Hawaii 50

  • jackie

Love person of interest, new best show. Also, love the Gifted man. The comedy shows are foolish, boring, they all have one liners about female and male parts. All the Cop shows are the same. Except BLue Blood great family story line. So far My Husband and enjoy these shows the best. Along with Ncis on Tuesdays.

  • Maka

Two lousy, lousy bog standard CBS procedurals. God knows why they happen to be so popular. I’m never going to understand how Unforgettable manages to hold an audience, because it’s just so boring.

    • t3hdow

Yeah, I tried to watch Person of Interest, because I loved Michael Emerson on Lost, but god, it’s dull. Jim Caviezel’s character is way too extreme a take on the brooding anti-hero archtype. Even the Criminal Minds cast aren’t half as sullen as this guy.
