'American Horror Story' ratings grow AGAIN

Don’t look now, but FX’s American Horror Story is growing into a hit.

Ryan Murphy’s latest (and last week’s Entertainment Weekly cover story) rose in the ratings for the second time in row. AHS went up 15 percent to 3 million viewers — after going up a slight 4 percent the week before. In the adult demo, the show did even better, hitting a series high 2.2 million viewers.

The fourth episode of the horror-drama admittedly had more than a fair amount of help from its lead-in, the basic cable premiere of Twilight. Still … climbing two weeks in a row for any serialized drama is a healthy sign.

It’s a fantastic show. It’s got a great cast, and they’re completely convincing.

Totally satisfying for a lifelong horror fanatic like myself.

    • Templar

Just like Quint’s c* ck grows whenever he sees a 12 year old boy, amirite?

      • Jon

        No, you’re a moron.

      • JD

      • Kvinna

        You’re an idiot, Templar.

      • Kat

spoken like a man who has experience, hairy palms & a basement stocked with Vaseline!

Can’t wait for AHS Season 2… I’ve read it returns 10/12. Season 2 revolves around an “old haunted prison” Anyone else have any other updates?
Tate & Constance are signed back on as different characters. (Including 2 others from Season 1)

      Wow. Evil much?

  • solarjet

Saw the first episode and thought it was the most promising new show in at least a decade. Keep up the good work FX.

    • tigger851

that is what i thought about Damages but then FX put it just on DirecTv which sux! hope they don’t do this with AHS

  • Mark

A little freaky, but I like freaky. At least it’s something different on TV. I’m sure the religious groups are having meetings about it. The show kind of reminds me of early Dean Koontz and King, as well as indie author Mark Stephens

2 of the best shows on television are on FX: AHS and Sons of Anarchy. Hopefully, the 2nd year curse doesn’t plague AHS like it has every other Ryan Murphy show.

    • Woot

      Also Archer…

    • A

      Justified is better than both.

      • DL

I really like Justified, but I actually like AHS better.

    • Dolphin

      I’m also loving Justified.

    • Rob

Sons of Anarchy is repetitive and a real snoozer this season.. I dropped out after three episodes, and I have been a loyal viewer in the past.

AHS on the other hand: magnificent. I’ve been telling friends about it so it might be that others are doing the same.

the show is unbelievable. By far the best thing being offered this television season. Frances conroy, Jessica lange, and zachary quinto all deserve emmys for their performances last night. As long as Murphy and falchuck can keep the unexpected coming they have a definite hit on their hands

  • Michael

It’s cleverly written, enthralling, engaging, confusing as could be but has a since of malevolance below the surface that few “horror” shows on TV ever get right. I’ve not been this addicted to a new show since Buffy.

  • Jessica

I am loving this show, I cannot wait for each episode. Everything is so surprising. Keep it coming!!!

    • Jolie

      Couldn’t agree more.

  • bananas

Love this show. I think it’s getting less scary since the pilot though. The basement scene first episode was the best.

  • Jason

Love this show. It’s not as scary each week, but I definitely see it laying the foundation for future scares. I have a feeling Constance is going to get REALLY scary after what happened last night!

  • James

Too bad Directv subscribers probably wont be able to see next weeks episode so the ratings are probably going to drop.

    • 4815162342

      Why can’t they watch it?

      • elena

DirecTV is dropping FX from their provider. If you have DirecTV and like FX, write in.

      • Me

I fully support Directv in not giving in to Fox..

eff that.. why should they? A 40% increase and you bring it up right before you’re supposed to renew? Yeah, that’s shady business practice… playing chicken and I’m glad directv is having none of it.. I stand behind them all the way!

      • tigger851

all cable networks do this right before contract renewal to show the public there could be a possibility of you losing your favorite network……it’s politics within the corporations and makes them look like they are doing their job! so stoopid!

    • Valley Girl

I was thinking the same thing: how many of the 3 million are DirecTV subscribers? I hope Fox and DirecTV can get their pissing contest resolved soon. I’d prefer not to have to switch to Dish and may have to wait that 7-12 day delay to watch new episodes online

      • Valley Girl

Or I may just start watching the logos channel instead. My partner and I only watch that and Glee and American Horror just to support Zach.

  • gato

    I really love this show!!

  • tg

Great, great show! More and more people are hearing about it which means word of mouth is strong. I think the repeats of all 4 eps on Mon. will only help.

  • Janell

This show is creepy. It’s a matter of when the family will realize they are surrounded by dead people. Love it!

  • larry fembot

When will this show stop being disjointed and mostly boring?

    • Gary Gnu

I guess when Zachary Q’s nephew stops calling him “Uncle Feely-Hands”.

      • Woot

LOL! That was wrong….but I literally did a spit-take with my Pepsi!

      • Josh

        Wow…double ignorance.

      • @Josh

Wow…double penetration. Who knew your b-hole was so stretched out?

      • Jon

        Do shut up.

  • Rob Rubinate

Excellent in it’s weirdness, this show is raising the bar for horror shows which are usually weak.
