'Brides of Beverly Hills' premiere features porn star and inspiration for 'Father of the Bride' character -- EXCLUSIVE CLIP

This Friday, TLC premieres its latest bridal reality show, Brides of Beverly Hills (Oct. 28, 10 p.m. ET). The series follows Renée Strauss, owner of the Beverly Hills boutique Renée Strauss for the Bride, and Kevin Lee (pictured), the floral and event designer who was the inspiration for Martin Short’s character “Frank” in Father of the Bride. Fans of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills might recognize him as the wedding planner for Lisa Vanderpump’s daughter. On the BBH series debut, adult film star Diamond Foxxx is a client, looking for a gown that will fit her size 32G breasts for her vow renewal with her husband of 12 years. Yes, this is definitely different from Say Yes to the Dress. Watch an exclusive clip below.

Wait, Kevin Lee was the “inspiration” for a character in a movie that was released in 1991? Really? And the first mention of him in any media, in a town obsessed with being on TV and in print, is an “offhand” mention of him in a reality show in 2011? I’m going to have to throw the B.S. flag on this one. Sounds like classic PR spin to me.

I am a big fan of reality tv and watch all the wedding shows. I hope this show gets better because the premier episode did not live up to it’s name. I was surprised that women off beverly hills would even look at $5,000 dress and $200 bridesmaid dresses when high rollers on “say yes to the dress” are willing to drop $15,000. I expected more based on the title of the show.

This has got to be a joke!

I thought this show was terrible. I could only watch about half of it before I got completely bored. The prospect of watching a porn star shop for a wedding dress did not interest me. This show, so far, has none of the charm or human interest of the two Say Yes to the Dress shows (New York and Atlanta). Also, I thought the gowns Renee Strauss sold were ugly. Kleinfelds and Bridals by Lori seem to me to have much better stylists and fashion buyers. Moreover, the production quality of this program was TERRIBLE! The lighting made the interior look like the show was shot using a cell phone cam. Yuck. I won’t be watching this again.

Good point. Plus, his “faboolus” was getting old in the premiere.

I was relieved to realize that this is not another spinoff from “Say Yes…” The New York show tries to educate watchers about how to get the most out of an appointment and about some of the pitfalls. In most cases, the stylists and managers–and Randy–are sensitive and pleasant, even when viewers know a bride and/or her entourage frustrate them.

This show seemed to be about getting their own kicks about some of the patrons. I admit I did look up Diamond Foxxx, but I found the focus on that by the staff (apart from the stylist) unprofessional. And twice, Renee said that there was a “nice Jewish family” on one side of the salon, while on the other, there was !!!

are you serious?! what the hell did it matter what religion the family that came in was. Was it because the sister had a strong opinion. i did not notice the religion of the salesgirl, designer or the owner. i am highly insulted. pass.

Please let this show die a fast death, please!!!! Even the filming looked cheesy and unprofessional. It’s a tactless joke that is anything but funny. Felt more like something should be played on April 1st for the fools in it in parody of such shows as ‘say yes’. You know it is partly scripted/set-up as they have film elsewhere of some participants… the most horrendously obnoxious stereotypical ones of course at home. Some over the top rich woman wants the ‘most expensive’ wouldn’t be shopping at a place like this if $17,000 was the top for them. And why does ever bridal show have to have the obligatory man in the picture anyway? Randy is fine, and originator of the post, he really seems to know his business and he can be much more discrete but this faker doesn’t even work for them! I was simply out right offended by this piece of trash and I thought Bridezillas was the one to avoid at all costs, this one has it beat. Kill it! Kill it! TLC have more respect for yourselves and us as this woman and her staff ‘should’ have for her customers.
