'Glee': Behind-the-scenes with 'Glee Project' winner Damian McGinty -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

The Glee Project‘s co-winner Damian McGinty (who shared the top price with Samuel Larsen) makes his first appearance on Glee this coming Tuesday, Nov. 1. McGinty plays Irish exchange student Rory Flanagan, who not only tries out for New Directions but moves in with Brittany (Heather Morris). From the looks of it, the newbie actor fits in quite well with the cast. As Rachel (Lea Michele) puts it, “He’s magical.” Watch this exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of McGinty in action…

    • Faye Williams

I hope the keep him on after his 7 shows are over. They really short changed him giving him such a small part after the introduction.

      • Daniel O’Brien

They are keepIng him longer :) its official

  • elena

More proof that Damian really is that adorable in real life. Aaaah, I love this kid! I’m so excited for his Irish awesomeness to be in Glee.

    • ms mcginty :D

      yes! me too!

  • Chelsea

Looking forward to seeing him but I’m reeeeally waiting for Sam!

  • LOL

    America loves crap.

    • Jenny

I guess America love you too then lol.

      • Marge

        Lol, nice onw.

      • Quinn (not from glee)

lol yeah that was a nice one

    • Troy

Not first this time, LOL you are losing your touch.

    • abadstroller

There you are, LOL. I hadn’t seen you for a while. Good to know that you weren’t buried in the Dorito dust avalanche on your basement sofa. Sorry to see that the near death experience with “orange lung” hasn’t improved your view of the world….

      • @abadstroller

        Now that’s LOL.

    • ALPHA

LOL is right this time. EW loves crap. Can’t find a time when GLEE isn’t mentioned somewhere on the EW homepage. Are the ratings even good or is it just some kind of GAY backing since we all know EW is run by GAYS.

      • leNolaBoy

You’ve caught us. TV is a vast gay conspiracy. We intend to improve your diet and upgrade your wardrobe. We can see you through the TV, and your right to wear that slovenly stained couchwear ends where it meets our eyes. REPENT!

  • amanda

    Can’t wait for Brittana!! <3

  • Jenna

Ugh, already they’re shoving Rory/Damian down our throats.

    • Chelsea

How is simply introducing the character “shoving him down our throats”?

      • James

For Rachel Berry to say his voice is magical? Only if someone got her high and drunk at the same time and then managed to promise her a lead role in Funny Girl on Broadway would she say such a thing. The guy’s voice, overproduced, is just decent. Please. Ugh.

      • jayemeff

@James. Damien McGuinty has been touring worldwide with Celtic Thunder since he was 14. That means singing live. He is amazing and hardly overproduced. if you don;t know what you’re talking about, keep your claptrap shut. Moron.

      • kim

By having Rachel say he is magical. By the press conference yesterday but the cast tweets. By having a reality show winner get a part without even doing acting audition., by adding even more characters,….and so on.

      • Snarklepuss

Mmmm…mmm…luvs me some jealous peepuls nerd rage.

    • Amanda

“Shoving him down our throats” says the person who clicked on the page to find out all about Glee’s new character? Someone like to talk just to hear them self speak. I’ve seen Celtic Thunder live and he’s a very talented singing. Plus he’s got a youthful charm that alot of the characters lack! I can’t wait to watch the episode.

    • cindy

      i think damian is wonderful!!!!!

  • Jim

Please they are pushing us to like these TGP people to much. Stop. Kid is probably a nice but not needed. ON the positive note I understand him better that Heather.

    • District 12

Not needed? Half the cast is leaving at the end of the season and the Glee club has yet to win nationals, the show needs more kids and the group needs more talent to win the competitions. I would say they are needed now more than ever.

  • LG

what is the song at the end?

  • Marcella

    Brittana is on. <3

  • AnaB

Now that makes me look forward to this ep! Didn’t care much about the Glee Project, but Damian is just adorable… =)

  • kj

his hair looks awful. i wasn’t a fan of him on tgp but, we’ll see what he has to offer.

    • R

I thought Damian was good on the project, but I definitely agree with you about the hair.

      • Amanda

They are trying to make him look like a member of the rat pack since that was his vocal strength

      • gink

Yeah, his hair is bording on Marge Simpson territory. Needs to be depuffed a bit. Otherwise I adore him.

  • Laura

Typo! Top prize, not top price!

  • James

Oh here we go, shoving this kid down our throats with all their might. Too bad they forgot people tend to vomit the thing back up in that case. Hopefully this little … will be gone soon enough.

    • nina

or even better he’ll stay for another season.

  • farsider

Can someone running Glee ask Heather Morris to enunciate her lines? Her soft slurs are hard to fathom. She can convey dialogue without sacrificing character, trust me.

    • Olivia

Well they can mumble together now, I don’t understand either him or her. Yay for the new mumbling couple. Poor Naya, having to work with this …

      • Mel

        Yeah, poor St. Naya. /dramaqueen

      • david

I understand them just fine. Maybe you should pay better attention. And yeah, poor Naya and the rest of the cast for having to go through such an ordeal. *eyeroll*

      • Amanda

Its like the only way to sound confused or annoyed (Quinn) is to say it mumbled and with a gurgly throat! It makes theatre nerds everywhere squirm

    • Linny

I know this must bug the hell out of the theater trained cast like Lea and Matt. I understand the Irish kid more than her.

    • Erin

I agree! Same thing with Dianna, I always have to put the captions on or turn the volume unpleasantly high just to hear Heather and Dianna.

  • kdnfdkofnmasd

    who is this, huevon?

    • Jackie Glover

Damian McGinty is the only cast member who looks young enough to actually be a high school student. He is a great talent and a nice person. The hair and clothing are obviously part of his character’s persona…not his own idea. It’s called acting a role, so calm down and give him a chance.
