Sundance’s reality series Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys — which follows around straight women and the gays they love — doesn’t return to the airwaves until Nov. 18 with back-to-back episodes. But it comes with a couple twists: an entirely new cast and a new setting, in the heart of the Bible Belt.

So who’ll be starring? EW has exclusive video of the four new straight woman/gay man couples featured in the show, which you can find below.

But first, quick dossiers on each of the pairings:

Not again: DirecTV and Fox Networks locked in carriage dispute now

Categories: Television, TV Biz

UPDATED: Another carriage dispute has surfaced, this time between the Fox Networks and DirecTV. Fox’s last deal with DirecTV expired at the end of September. READ FULL STORY »

Prime time might want to brace itself for a different kind of Castle.

Fox is aiming to make a TV series featuring Marvel comic book character The Punisher. The procedural drama would center on New York City detective Frank Castle, who seeks justice on the side as a merciless vigilante named The Punisher.

The project — which has been given a pilot commitment with a penalty if it doesn’t air – is from Ed Bernero (Third Watch, Criminal Minds), who is also developing a sci-fi western titled The Eye at ABC.

The Punisher property was most recently adapted into two feature films, the first in 2004 with Thomas Jane as Castle, the second in 2008 with Ray Stevenson in the title role. Both were box office disappointments.

Noted 'General Hospital' writer moving to 'The Bold and the Beautiful'

The woman responsible for writing the highly-regarded revisitation of Luke Spencer’s rape of Laura - not to mention their high-profile marriage — is moving to The Bold and The Beautiful.

CBS announced that Michele Val Jean, who spent 18 years on the ABC soap opera, has joined the writing team of the CBS sudser. “With her vast wealth of knowledge, experience and creativity, Michele is sure to be a significant addition to The Bold and the Beautiful,” said Head Writer Bradley P. Bell in a statement.

In addition to GH, Val Jean wrote for Santa Barbara. In 1998, she received critical acclaim for the rape of Elizabeth Webber and also penned the scenes involving the 2007 rape of Jasper Jacks.

NBC's 'Fear Factor' trailer lives up to the hype -- EXCLUSIVE

Really. Based on this trailer, the new Fear Factor debuting Dec. 12 is exactly what NBC has described: Just like the old reality hit, only ramped up to another level. Contestants get blown up, yanked out of office building windows, crash cars through trains, eat live scorpions and — potentially the most horrifying stunt of all for the bawling blonde in this clip — get their head shaved.

Reality show revivals have struggled in the past (American Gladiators? The Mole?), but I can see this adrenaline-heavy reboot of Fear Factor performing strong in the ratings. See what you think, trailer below: READ FULL STORY »

'Person of Interest': Michael Emerson and creator on the drama's 'Odd Couple-like relationship'

It’s clear that Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Finch (Michael Emerson) are still figuring out their working relationship on Person of Interest — and that’s part of the fun of watching the two paranoid, highly secretive people tango around situations and cases. And tonight will present their already delicate arrangement with a further challenge, according to executive produer Jonathan Nolan.

“These two characters are still largely negotiating with each other how this is going to work, what the division of labor is going to be, what risks they’ll take, how they’ll tackle certain problems,” he told EW this weekend. “In episode 5, Finch might want to solve a problem one way but Reese has a more direct approach. I just love that slightly Odd Couple-like relationship in which they’re still learning…Although it’s sort of one-sided because Finch knows a lot about Reese and Reese knows very little about Finch. It’s a relationship that’s been a lot of fun for us. We’re carefully mapping out how close these guys get and how fast they get there.”  READ FULL STORY »

'Secret Circle' scoop: EP Andrew Miller on life after Nick, with brother Jake

Secret-Circle-Wake

On tonight’s episode of The Secret Circle, fans will meet Jake (guest star Chris Zylka), Nick’s older brother who arrives in Chance Harbor and stirs up the now broken Circle. What can we expect as the show moves past last week’s shocker? Here’s what executive producer Andrew Miller has to say.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You’ve said before that Jake will shake up all the dynamics on the show. How will he come between Adam and Cassie?
ANDREW MILLER: Everyone hates him in the Circle from knowing him two years ago. But Cassie, because she’s new to town, can only deal with what she sees on the surface, which is an incredibly sexy, very charming, troubled guy, who shares a similar pain that she does. Both his parents are gone, too. They develop a relationship that’s different from anyone else because of that. That relationship will make life very, very hard for Adam, and then ultimately very hard for Diana because as much as they all can’t stand Jake, he inserts themselves into their lives through Cassie. It just makes it difficult for all of them. READ FULL STORY »

Death Watch 2011: Fall TV Survival Status Week 5

Fall-TV-ratings

Image Credit: Mitchell Haaseth/NBC; Glenn Watson/ABC

UPDATED: So far, so predictable: All the shows that have been pink-slipped were pretty much expected. (Across the nation, scores of TV critics are crowing “we told you so!”) Now comes the really tough decisions: Some new (and old) shows are still posting ratings south of a 2.0 rating (here’s looking at you, Prime Suspect), but at what point does a network start to hit bone when it makes so many painful cuts?

Let’s look at the latest, season-to-date averages in adults 18-49, the demographic of most concern to advertisers. (Note: We’ve included the averages for the shows that have already earned full-season orders. Yeah, we’re scratching our heads at some of those CW pickups, too). READ FULL STORY »
