Can Walking Dead fans get too much of Norman Reedus? That’s like asking if his zombie-slaying redneck character Daryl Dixon can, well, slay too many zombies. Here at Inside TV, we say “No!” to both questions. Which is why, after Dalton Ross was done yakking with the Boondock Saints star on this week’s podcast, I grilled him further about the second season of the Walking Dead — which premieres on AMC tonight at 9 P.M. ET — working with Lady Gaga, and why Michael Rooker thinks he is a “Poopy pants.”

'Walking Dead': Sarah Wayne Callies reveals 5 things she learned while filming season 2 -- VIDEO

Sarah-Wayne-Callies

On Sunday night at 9 p.m., the undead will rise again: The second season of AMC’s The Walking Dead begins with our overburdened underdogs making their way toward Fort Benning in hopes of a better life, one in which they don’t wind up as zombie snacks. One of the show’s (un)lucky survivors, Lori — or rather, the actress who plays her, Sarah Wayne Callies — was kind enough to take a detour to visit the EW offices and share five things that she learned while filming season 2. Without spoiling too much, let’s just say that one of them involves a canned ham.  Check it out below. READ FULL STORY »

InsideTV Podcast: Norman Reedus talks about the ‘disgusting’ season 2 of ‘The Walking Dead’

Are you ready for the most disgusting scene in the history of The Walking Dead? Norman Reedus was! The actor, who plays Daryl Dixon on the AMC drama, has the pleasure of giving us a guided tour through the inside of a zombie on Sunday night’s season 2 premiere, and he stopped by the InsideTV Podcast to tell us all about the gory glory. Other topics up for discussion: the weapon Reedus is dying to use to kill off the undead (even more than his crossbow!), a possible Dixon family reunion with the missing Merle (played by Michael Rooker), and his take on the whole Frank Darabont situation. Reedus also explains the difference between Walking Dead fans and devotees of his other cult hit, The Boondock Saints. “They’ll run across the street and just tackle you to the ground,” he says of the latter. Also learn why the actor is practically impossible to beat at paintball! READ FULL STORY »

'Fringe': Anna Torv on Peter, Olivia's relationship with Lincoln -- VIDEO

Fringe star Anna Torv was largely coy when talking about Peter’s return to the show after having turned the Fringe-verse upside down by being absent for most the season so far. (Save small appearances in shiny surfaces.) But she had much more to say when talking about Lincoln Lee’s addition to the team and his budding friendship (and possibly more!) with Olivia.

“The Olivia we meet and know has known about Fringe Division and had all this time to get used to it and work out that this is her life,” she says. This is a far cry from when Olivia met Peter following the death of her fiance, John. As a result, says Torv, “when Lincoln comes in, she’s a little more open to him [than she was with Peter] and working with someone again.”

But will this ease lead to something more — as some fans have speculated? “I don’t know if that’s going to end up being romantic or not at the moment,” she says.

For more on EW’s chat with Torv, watch the video below! READ FULL STORY »

TNT cancels Jason Lee starrer 'Memphis Beat'

Categories: Cable

TNT has opted against ordering a third season of Memphis Beat, the drama that stars Jason Lee as a quirky police detective named Dwight Hendricks.

“The network thanks everyone involved in the production of Memphis Beat for their work on the series, including the great cast and crew,” according to a TNT statement.

The cable network is doing a little housecleaning in preparation for the arrival of its Dallas reboot next year. Last month, it yanked the three-year-old HawthoRNe, the hospital drama that starred Jada Pinkett Smith. And earlier this year, the network dropped Men of a Certain Age

TNT is not hurting in the drama department, however: Rizzoli and Isles and Falling Skies are hits, and the network just ordered another season of Franklin & Bash. Another batch of episodes from The Closer, in the meantime, return Nov. 28.

Goodbye girls! ABC cancels 'Charlie's Angels'

Some classics — even the cheesiest ones — are better left in the past, and Charlie’s Angels, it seems, is no exception: ABC has shut down production on the reboot from Smallville scribes Al Gough and Miles Millar.

A network representative says the show will continue to air on Thursdays, filling the 8 p.m. slot with an unknown number of episodes (four of the show’s eight shot episodes have aired). Last night’s hour showed some ratings growth for the first time, climbing a tenth of a point to 6 million viewers and a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating. But it wasn’t enough to reverse the show’s fate.

Why did the reboot fail? READ FULL STORY »

'X Factor,' 'Prime Suspect' ratings dip, 'Charlie's Angels'... rises?

Categories: TV Ratings

Last night’s ratings are full of interesting moves as Thursday shows signaled some intriguing shifts. Here’s what happened:

– Fox’s X Factor dipped (10.8 million viewers, 3.6 adults 18-49 rating). The judges’ homes episode that was pushed from Wednesday due to championship baseball overrun fell a little from last week. Were viewers confused about whether the show was on tonight? Did the break in momentum hurt the show? X Factor always improves from its preliminary morning rating, but it will still fall a tad shy of last week.

– CBS’ Person of Interest (11.9 million, 2.7) improved for the first time. Just a 10th of a point, but still, always good to see a new show apparently find its bottom and bounce up.

Charlie’s Angels (6 million, 1.3) went up. Yes, you read that right. For the first time, massively under-performing Angels went up — yet only by a 10th of a point and its number is still really small. (Did guest star Erica Durance help?) The word on the street was that Angels would get the axe today. But networks hate to kill a show right after its number goes up, it leaves executives tossing and turning wondering if the show was about to stage some unlikely epic turnaround. Too little too late?
