Are you bored of 'Jersey Shore'? Season 4 finale ratings down for first time

As the Jersey Shore cast wrapped its drunken scream-filled vacation in Italy, the show’s ratings concluded lower than the previous season for the first time.

Shore delivered 6.6 million viewers for its season 4 finale, down 13 percent from season 3′s closer. That downturn is despite the season launching higher than ever, with a spectacular 8.8 million blowout that was MTV’s most-watched series premiere ever. So far Shore finales have clocked 4.8 million for season one, 6.1 million for season two, 7.6 million for season three and, now, reversing down to 6.6 million.

So the Italy adventure began more popular than ever, yet the finale dipped for the first time. Why?

Fans of the show can probably give a few reasons: READ FULL STORY »

'Dexter': Dexter and Brother Sam discuss faith, murder, and other deep stuff -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

There are few happy endings on Dexter, but last week’s episode of the Showtime drama concluded on a particularly disturbing note. (That Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse scene might have even made the Lone Ranger soil his saddle.) On this Sunday’s episode, titled “A Horse of A Different Color,” things will probably get even creepier when Dexter catches a glimpse of the next tableau dastardly realized by Professor Gellar and Travis. Before that, though, Miami Metro’s own serial slayer winds up back in the garage of the righteous-but-enigmatic Brother Sam. See what happens when these two engage in a deep conversation about religion and the killer who seems to be reenacting scenes from the Book of Revelation. As Sam tells Dexter: “Just because he believes in some crazy bulls—, that don’t mean his faith is any less real.”  READ FULL STORY »

Regis Philbin says contract squabbles pushed him out at 'Live!', eyes return to primetime

When Regis Philbin surprised fans in January with his announcement that he was leaving his daytime talk show after 28 years, the 80-year-old hinted that he was heading towards retirement, saying “There is a time that everything must come to an end for certain people on camera, especially certain old people.” But soon after, whispers emerged that his departure had more to do with his contract then a desire to retire.

Philbin seemed to confirm those rumors when he called in to Detroit’s The Mojo in the Morning radio show, saying that contractual issues actually pushed him out the door. “I’m not calling it quits, you understand,” he insisted to the morning crew, which included his Live! guest co-host Shannon Murphy. “I’m moving on. I’m not retiring. I’m not quitting. I’m moving on.” READ FULL STORY »

'Community': See Joel McHale transform into a vampire in next week's Halloween episode -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

You could argue that every week is Halloween Week on NBC’s Community, but next week is one of those weeks where you’re really right. On the evening of Oct. 27, things get a little scary when our study group meets up for a Halloween pre-party, at which everyone shares a horror story. (It’s all part of a perfectly logical plan by Britta to figure out who amongst them is a psycho.) Before you watch, let us warn you: Jeff Winger totally sucks in all the right ways. Proceed, you drained and tainted bitch-dogs. READ FULL STORY »

'Terra Nova' scoop: Producers reveal death, romance, shark-dinos to come

Categories: Terra Nova

Terra Nova is about to get wilder. After experimenting with a couple stand-alone episodes, Fox’s dino-drama is taking a more serialized path for the rest of the season — solving key mysteries, introducing new dinos, and even killing off a character. (Don’t worry, we won’t say who.)

Terra Nova executive producers René Echevarria and Brannon Braga reveal some of the threats the colonists will face in the upcoming hours, as well as answer some burning fan questions. Will we see 2149 again? Will the season finale end on a cliffhanger? What’s up with all the teen romance? And hey, will the colonists ever actually kill a dinosaur? We have a mega Q&A that answers all this and more. The interview comes on the heels of Monday’s fourth episode rising in the ratings — a promising sign if the ambitious sci-fi show is going to land a second season.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Congratulations on the ratings uptick. I hear the show is going to get more serialized from here on?
RENÉ ECHEVARRIA: It does. We’re going to roll out the whole Sixer mythology this season. You’re going to see who sent them here and why, and it all comes to a head in the season finale.
BRANNON BRAGA: Whether it’s the strange markings on the rocks, or even the new thing we introduced Monday night with the container, all these things will culminate and be explored by the end of the 13. And it’s been fun doing that. As the episodes go on, the momentum will build with the ongoing storylines. READ FULL STORY »

InsideTV Podcast: Rick Moranis to join forces with ‘The Walking Dead’? Robert Kirkman and Steven Yeun explain

There are simply too many reasons to count as to why you need to listen to this week’s installment of the InsideTV Podcast with special guests Robert Kirkman (creator of The Walking Dead comic book and exec-producer on the AMC adaptation) and Steven Yeun (who plays Glenn on the zombie drama), so I’ll just list a few of them. 1.) Yeun tells us what it’s like to have a tick attached to your genitalia. 2.) Kirkman reveals why my big scene as a zombie extra was cut out of the season premiere. 3.) Yeun explains how Rick Moranis — yes, Rick Moranis! — could play a pivotal role in the future of the show. And 4.) I make both Yeun and Kirkman play a round of GOTCHA! — a new game in which I try to make them inadvertently spill secrets about the drama through casual conversation. Add it all up and you get perhaps the most insane InsideTV Podcast yet. (Did I mention Rick Moranis is involved?) Yes, even more insane then last week’s chat with Norman Reedus (a.k.a. Daryl Dixon). 'Rules of Engagement' returns to higher ratings

Never the sexiest sitcom on the block, perpetual low-profile CBS comedy Rules of Engagement returned Thursday night up dramatically from its premiere last season.

Rules (11.5 million viewers, 3.7 adults 18-49 ratings) was up 32 percent from its previous Thursday debut and posted its best fall premiere number since 2007 — continuing the whole “comedy is king” fall TV ratings trend. Not bad for a show that CBS once scheduled for Saturday nights. That’s down aways from its Big Bang Theory (14.7 million, 4.9) lead-in, as one would expect. And Big Bang was up too — climbing 7 percent from last week.

Unfortunately, Rules didn’t boost new drama Person of Interest (12.3 million, 2.7) which was down a tenth of a point, while The Mentalist (12.5 million, 2.5) was stable.

Oh, and there was a World Series Game 2 on last night. READ FULL STORY »

‘GOSSIP GIRL’: EP TALKS MORE ON ‘SLEEP NO MORE,’
How much did you love this news? I was so excited I even circled Nov. 14 in my calendar and drew a creepy mask by the date to remind myself. But in case you need even more reasons to be excited about the impending romantic entanglements in this very special episode, executive producer Josh Safran told me that much “like masked balls in the past, there are multiple kisses — between multiple people” in the episode. “Like, quadratic couples, I’d say,” he teases. Could that have something to do with the “big kiss” everyone has been asking me about? Possibly… READ FULL STORY »

Gossip Girl is going to the theater — but not to just any show.

A very special Nov. 14 episode will find the gang attending Sleep No More, the provocative live show that contains elements of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. “It took months to get it together,” executive producer Josh Safran tells EW exclusively of the super-secret filming of the episode. “It was incredible to use their space, their actors… the whole thing. We like to do a masked ball every year, and this just dials it up so many notches. We were very much attuned to keep Sleep No More‘s secrets. At the same time, they were also really helpful in letting us utilize stuff that they maybe normally wouldn’t. We shot there for two days — several of the rooms, different floors.” READ FULL STORY »

Tonight’s episode of Supernatural will feature a fandom clash of epic proportions as Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel alums Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters hit the small screen as a husband and wife witch team in an episode titled “Shut Up, Dr. Phil.” For Carpenter, who hadn’t shared a scene with Marsters since their days on the WB, it was an on-set reunion worth waiting for.

“We go way back,” she says. “It was fun to see an old friend on set and catch up on each other’s lives and talk about our kids, music, and books and talk about what it was like when we were working on this show and that show. It was a lot of intimate conversations about the old days. It was great.”  READ FULL STORY »

Sarah Silverman plans 'N*****head' live show in Rick Perry's home state -- EXCLUSIVE

Comedian and TV actress Sarah Silverman is set to thump Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry with a provocatively titled live comedy show in his home state.

Silverman is marshaling fellow comics for a fund-raiser in Texas titled, “Live From N*****head: Stripping The Paint Off Of Good Ol’ Fashioned Racism.”

The title refers to the controversy over Perry’s West Texas hunting campground where the candidate has entertained friends and supporters. The campground’s former name, “Niggerhead,” was painted on a rock at the entrance for many years.

“This is a never-forget moment,” Silverman said. “The show’s provocative name holds a mirror up to an ugliness that seems to have become yesterday’s news without having barely even made news.” READ FULL STORY »
